So the US just doesnt count? How do you figure? Thats not fair to say... Lance Trappe, Jeff Lenosky, Aaron Chase, Ryan Leech, Dylan Korba, etc..and so on have all progressed this sport. Furthermore, think about all the incredible DJ/Street riders....Not to mention the HUGE bmx scene in the US where most of the style and creativity of trials here in the UK is stolen.... granted, there is a tiny population of riders in the US. This is true. In Albuquerque there might be twenty people that have trials bikes, ten more with hardtails that do some trials "moves" on them, and then maybe ten more that have bikes and never use em. Three years ago there were five of us...altogether.... To say that the US only started liking cycling after Lance won the Tour is a bit rude. We have tons of excellent riders, in all genres. Please do your research before you make an ass of yourself. People in the US tend to ride a lot more BMX/Park and general mountain biking. Trials hasnt taken off just yet, but it is slowly making its debut. Since moving from Albs, i have realized how large the trials population is here. Also what might be noteworthy is that there is a large distinction between trials and street. Back home most of the riders have bikes setup with proper saddles and suspension forks, and gears. Much like Ryan Leech rocks his bike. No one here in the UK does that. All are pure trials frames and parts. Which is interesting. We ride our bikes everywhere, we ride anything, and we do it all on one bike. I have just recently gotten a mod bike and look forward to riding pure trials for a while. Im not sure if i hope it grows, or if it slowly gains recognition. The way it is now, it allows for riders to join soley for enjoying the sport. I think if it grows too fast, we'll see too many riders in it for free bike parts/promotional reasons. Time will tell. Do give it credit for the BMX influence and the riders that do help contribute to the broader aspect of cycling. Its not all about Lance in the States. Come to Albuquerque and then you can compare the two

I snapped the old style lever where the lever blade is attached to the lever body and Magura wouldnt warranty it. It was all of three weeks old, and clearly a manufacturers defect:( good luck though...

I thought i was alone on this. I have owned four Norco frames, starting with the red one in 2003?, then the white one, then the blue one, and now onto the battleship gray one. Next is the Manifesto white one. Granted, they do crack kind of easily. With the start of the red one, i broke each frame since then, ending with the gray one with a huge crack on the inner right chainstay (much like the Orange Zero). I have owned that frame, the Orange Zero, PAshley 26mhz, DBR Thybialt Mariux frame, PLanet X Zebdi MK IV, Zoo Python, Brisa B26d, Megamo Equip Pro 26 (?), and an Addict cycles frame. I have to say that the Norco has been the best to me. It rides lovely. Its light, the feel is great (STEEL!), and i love the fact i can up the seatpost and actually get somewhere. It is kind of a pain when it does crack, and you have to get it warrantied, but they do keep warrantying them. Its nice to get a new frame every year. And not have to pay for it. Id say that the Zero comes in Second for me, but frankly, the tire clearance and the fact that every* Zero cracks in the same spot is kind of a downfall. Plus i love the feel of steel. Personal preference. Here's a question....and i might be the only one. Is anyone riding front suspension forks still?

Im a firm believer in JB Weld. Just a tab will do the trick!

What exectly are you in need of? Our shops deal exclusively with BTI and GBP as parts suppliers. If they can not get it, they can probably special order it:) What part of the States you headed to? Just be forewarned, trials is really really small in the States.

Calling All Riders In And Around Swansea....
maxwellduryea replied to maxwellduryea's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Good news to me.... A little bit about me... Im Maxwell Duryea. Im 21 years of age. I was born in Tijeras, NM. I got into trials when i was seventeen, did it for a year, got discouraged, came back at age 20, and been into it since. Lately i have been also doing a lot of fixed gear riding/trick riding as a cross trainer, and seems to be helping my trials. I have done every type of riding, had over 20 trials frames until i landed a Norco Moment. I got interested in photoG late 19years old, and been doing it aggressively since. I have a been a bike mechanic for the past three years, wrenching on all kinds of two-wheeled machines. Boring story, right? Ha. Here in New Mexico the trials scene (well the U.S. in general) is dying. I know one "pure" trials rider, two other urban riders, and myself in NM. Its itty-bitty. This is another factor that makes it hard to practice trials here; there is no one to ride with, to push you, to get feedback. I hope this changes in Swansea. Im looking to ride everyday or at the very least every other day while im there. Ill be arriving September 19th..finding a place to crash, move in the 22nd to the Student Village....ride the 23rd hopefully! If you guys are on myspace, check out my photography page and add me as a friend! I think there are a few of me riding (dated). myspace.com/maxdphotography Ill be shooting a ton during my stay, and look forward to riding/shooting with all of you. So how do i become a member? It would be really beneficial to be able to PM you guys, but seems ill have to wait! Ill be doing nothing but building my bike on the 20-22nd------if you guys get bored, hit me up. mduryea1@unm.edu. I would love to check out the town and get a tour of riding spots and such. -
I never said i count grams, but i have *heard* of people doing that. Just sharing information, that's all. Oh, and yes, i do take a dump before i ride:) I dont know about you, but id rather not ride all plugged up. Furthermore, how about you just practice your style, get smoother, and you will eliminate pinch flats. I have ridden Maxxis Holly Rollers (yes, for trials) for the last year. They have a super thin sidewall, and i run a regular buttyl tube. Getting better technique and being smoother is better than buying bombproof components.

Can Someone Explain Something To Me
maxwellduryea replied to MetalheadA7X's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
The single best think for any braking system is the setup. If you have a good platform to build upon, then everything after is positive. Over here me and my buddies actually do hash marks all the way accross the rim. Much like the image below, but all the way around the rim. ///////// I have grinded, used tar, used pine tar, use simple green, used vinegar, and all that stuff. I like having a perfect setup, Plazmatic CRM pads, and small hash marks on my rim. This combo makes for a quieter* setup and very efficient. Pads last longer, and when you go riding its a little bit more discrete.
