  1. well i have used continental, maxxis high roller and panaracer xc, i still feel the continental is the best tyre i have run for the front, however i run a 2.1 so weight is right down, i just run a fairly high pressure so no problems with punctures. im unsure of its capabilities on wet rocks, may have to take a widr tyre with me to fort william to cope with the stuff there......... high roller has good grip panaracer aint as good imo, just a bit on the weak side for punctures. each to their own me
  2. i dont think aust hangs around with ben savage, so he probably only knows his and his mates off by heart, although congrats to all the british riders this year who are competing at world level, good on you. keep it up lads, we need to rival the jolly foreigners in this competition malarky. look equally as comfortable on both bikes ben, keep it up. good video, i didnt realise you grunted so much when riding lol (man that sounds pretty dirty. lol nevermind) cheers ben
  3. hmmmm........weather at this comp seems to have taken a turn for the worst, from a link i was given earlier, how ever they quoted today as shit and thunder where i am and its bright sunshine. so hopefully they oh so wrong. anyway laters ben
  4. in case you boys didnt see on that site someone showed earlier in this thread. weather has taken a significant turn for the worst...... ah well. bring it on ben
  5. no questions just yet mike :P thats what he asked :D lol
  6. As a uci rider i feel it looks decent, although like most other :P, however i can see good points from it and bad points..... GOOD -smaller riders who dont wish to ride mod but want uci not street could ride it... -it will probably be strong like the trex is... -low standover, decent wheel base for those uci type riders who mix street as well (basically big bunnyhops as well as bigger gaps) BAD -most who want 24" wheels will desire the standard double diamond... -24" will be harder to ride uci stuff on and rocks... -front end may be a tad low, but obviously a higher rise stem could sort this... im not a fan of 24" wheels for compy/uci/biu stuff, its just not right, although im 6ft1 so thats probably why...... i wouldnt like it, but younger smaller riders may well do...... interesting...
  7. sorry mike, i meant did freshproducts copy this rennen tensioner, any copyright infringement?? Todge, if you see this, im not having a go, just was wondering :- both look to work well, it reinforces the dropout which is certainly a good thing, as many of todays dropouts are uber shite. cheers ben
  8. looks very similar to the tensioner from freshproducts (james porter rides for them). EXCEPT THAT fresh products has holes within it to reduce weight i imagine.... so is this a copy in design, maybe an additive to the discussion..... (Y)" :-
  9. hey will. a campsite in fort william called glen nevis said they would have loads of spaces. however i think ill end up in some random field, i have been told thats what loadsa people do so thats all good lol so i think random field as its free (Y)
  10. exactly, frames are not space differently at each side. your wheel is either not sitting correctly, not dished properly, or has come out of sync somehow. check your spokes aint loose at one sidde. meh ben
  11. well problem is, is the backing isnt steves design, so if they snap its not really his fault. maybe the backing coming away. but myabe just a single pad. steve isnt mass production, each is glued by hand. so maybe just a good job it was a test rider :) ben
  12. sweet pics dave, damon u monster, god i hate u, wish i were only half as good as u. gaps pretty massivio. well done lad, making a name for yourself like i told you when you were back on that shitty red frame, god. make me wanna just give up. four years your elder and cant do shit anywhere as good as you. when we next riding anyway. you should come up here sometime. more than welcome to stay at mine (Y)

cool, well im not going to concern myself with what videos are references, thats cool i believe you, you guys are more likely to know as you all ride with them. i have just watched porters new video and it seems it might work. ill have to have a try. im quite skinny for a rider, and i consider myself more than capable, 48" is a decent standard, but i might train myself into this new technique, i learnt to go bigger by hooking front and up, but even damon is trying this new up to both thing. and i notice porter squats in middle of frame rather than near the back. ill have to have a look at my own technique and see. ill have a look at the videos. im not crazily into sidehops but do like the odd one or two. i want to be an all round rider, but sidehops are one of my weaker moves. well cheers for the convo guys, im gunna see if going to both makes a difference. ill let u know ;) EDIT : SORRY FOR GOING OFF TOPIC. WELL ITS KINDA ON TOPIC, BUT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. MEH............BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION :P cheers ben

i think im in the same position as u, im not amazing at sidehops and i use what works. i feel that going to both is better but suppose we all use what works. i also hate using this proper technique saying as people say you should hop to the opposite side of strong foot, however tunni goes to the same side as his strong foot, and that boy can sidehop. We need the big hitters to tell us. i would like to be able to go as high to both wheels, but it takes a shit load of power application (you dont need to be a muscle man to go big - CLS is a good example, he aint a big lad, but he can go f**king huge on his bike.) meh. lets get the guys who are good at sidehops to tell us. i like discussions like this, cheers jix, i f**king hate arguments. all opinions ;) good lad ben

i still dont think ur correct. its a technique that works for each of them. i go to front and can get 48" (pb) but still go to front, i would say 48 is high. and im sure waynio goes to front he can go 50", damon watson (tartybikes rider) used up to front to get 53" so it does work. its application and how the rider goes about it. and im quite sure in many sidehops hermance goes to front wheel first on 50" eg. andrewt's colorado video, when he barely grips the wall. he goes to front first. so each to their own, although i like to be able to get up to both, but wouldnt say it allows me to go higher. its much harder ;) ben
  17. yer, you could show us nancy boys how to ride dave, although im not scottish, ill stick up for the contingent, as fat watsons a proper nancy, with his man boobs and all. :P looking forward to it. should be a good un ill be there fri sat sun, so get some decent rides on. im stayin at glen nevis me thinks, but if not, ill camp in a random area that people camp in for nought. lol ben

i agree with JIX, i prefer one wheel. i cant get the power from two wheels. and i always land further back from when i started. which i dont feel is a good thing. I prefer to land on front wheel as an anchor then bring back up my 2p
  19. yer, so i heard. u keeping me looking shit ;) u spaz. dear god. two wheeled u cock muncher. lol is this 53 to both wheels now? whats the record with ur "new technique" god. im quitting. lol :D
  20. yer its off a video i put together. ill try put it up online tommorow morning, so u lot can see again. good sidehops from damon. 53" to both wheels. ur too f**king good. u dickhead (Y) love you :P
