What Xmas Present Have You Bought Yourself This Year?
ben_travis replied to isitafox's topic in Chit Chat
Booked a trip to Cape Town for three weeks next November. :-D -
Since I've ridden street bikes, any disc I've run (front or rear) has been a 180mm. I've read a number of people who have had similar issues to what Mark has described above, but can't say I've ever had the same problems. When I ran M800 saints, I had the standard sintered pads (also used the uberbike sintered pads) on these bad boys in 180mm and they worked amazing. More hold then I'd ever been used to with any other brake before that. Now running Magura MT7's (after a pair of MT5's) and 180mm rotors have worked perfectly for me. I think the standard Magura rotors are a little on the skinny side, and I did bend one landing a sideways gap recently. I'm now trying a set of these beasts with some Trialtech MT5 / MT7 pads and so far they feel awesome. Back to the original question, my issue with 203's is that there is more chance of catching them / landing on them and they are much easier to bend from my previous experience. The weight doesn't really bother me, but it is a detraction for some people. I would go with 160mm rotors but don't think they offer quite enough POWERRRRRRR and my frame has a +20mm disc mount which makes 180mm rotors perfect. I think Ali has fettled with 160mm rotors on the back, but not sure of his conclusions on that... /warandpeace

I love JB. Such a dialled rider. Can't wait for new bits to come so I can ride

Bike suits you better than any other you've ridden. Nice wee video G. Looking forward to seeing you progress on it.

The music isn't up my street, but who cares when the riding is as good as that! I do love how individual you are James! Not sure which was my favourite bit, must go re-watch immediately.

The up-to-front on the spiked rail was a highlight for me

So good that I went and made an order at TB! Flipps in to front line at the roundabout was sweet. Everyones riding was good though

Won a pair of MT7's on ebay for an absolute steal. Anyone want to buy a set of MT5s?

Thanks for the compliments gents. Ross - didn't want to just do them for the sake of it. Need to find some decent lines to throw them in / get better at them.

I've been riding a little bit more recently, and managed to get some clips filmed while I was at it. Big thanks to Inspired Bicycles for the Console and to Phoenix Riders Co. for the threads. Recommend to go to Vimeo to see the HD version.

God dammit James. Y U SO BMX'Y? Y U NO A TRIALS DRONE? Sorry, lifes-a-trial, but its a dated argument. James is an exceptional trials rider if you look up his much older videos, but he has been influenced greatly by other disciplines. I know you have said you love his videos, but the second part of the statement ruins it. EDIT: haven't watch the video yet as I can't at work.

I didn't realise how much that was annoying me until you took it away. Now we just need to be rid of 'status' updates on TF and I will be a happy bunny.

Finding a song for a small video is doing my napper in.

I don't know why, but on the front page, the number of topics per forum being so large, and even being there to be honest, is bugging me. Everything else looks good though :)

And we've never ridden that whiteinch cross spot before because...???

Great wee video James. Really enjoyed that.

I can't see it, but assume its the above below documentary? Enjoyed it when I bought the DVD, but its a little 'Ryan Leech' for me. I loosly agree with most of what they are saying, but I don't think it needs to be as deep as they go
