So this is how you think it happened?
  2. Aaah, roughen the metal more, leave it to dry longer, lacquer it to shit. All things I should've done to my ghetto bike that I didn't, which is now shedding the paint like a leper.
  3. Yeah, skipping two teeth is fine. Just make sure to buy a derallieur with the right size cage, if the gear ratios get too far apart on the same cassette, you need more chain to make it all work. Probably a small sora mech will work though.
  4. That's pretty cool, done all that yourself?
  5. Yeah. Maybe even three spacers in between each. It takes a bit of experimenting. I've done it though! How come you want both 17 and 19?
  6. Cut apart the cassette, extract all the plastic spacers and the two sprockets you need, and put them on. You might need part of a singlespeed kit to get it to fit properly. You need to put the sprockets so they're two shifts apart, if you see what I mean, maybe more, cause the chain is quite thick and it won't fit if you keep them as close as they come on the cassette. Then you hook up your derallieur, wind up the locking screws so it can't go off either edge, and it will work.
  7. Best thing I think is to get rid of all the gears you don't need. I did it on a fourplay, 22t and then 17t and 12t. Means you can use a 3/32" chain like a z610.
  8. Aaaaah, so it's tint... Like this shit? I presume it works just like paint, give it a few coats and then lacquer over the top or...?
  9. What was the kind of paint you used for that? It's a really nice finish!
  10. I don't like the red hoses. Hoses are better not to be seen in my opinion.
  11. You're in the right place, but you're doing it wrong.
  12. W H smiths, there's probably a massive one in London if she goes there. If they don't sell it, most Other places won't, seeing as they're the distributors too.
  13. Marzocchi mz comp, lowered to 80mm.
  14. Shit pun? On topic, its nice, I like the colour.
  15. How much, where from, what size, is it really as grippy as a try-all, what's it like against pinches?
  16. The thing is, trialtech forks have an alloy steerer, which means it's thicker, which means you need a smaller star nut for it. This means you need a smaller headlock too, so that thingy you posted, will definitely not fit. They are a dick to get in. Put a bolt in there and hit the bolt, and try not to get it in at an angle.
  17. You do have to hit them quite hard to get them to go in. Pics of said star nut with said steerer tube, lets see if it's the right one.
  18. Sloped top cap, you say? That probably won't work. Are you sure you've got the right star nut for the forks?
  19. I would probably describe it as comp style with added flair, myself. TGS doesn't have lines in it.
  20. Find a local bike shop that deals in old crusty bikes, buy one and do it up. My mate bought an old raleigh for £30. The bike I'm doing up I got for free, out of a skip!
  21. Sneaky peek right there. I don't have any pics of it being stripped. I really should've waited til later to build it because the paint's really flimsy at the moment. There's a nice long raw bit on the seatstay I've covered with a tartybikes sticker Proper pics and a proper update will come later, maybe saturday.
  22. If you can get to Leicester there's dudes there to ride with every saturday. Or if you can get to Nottingham, there's... just me. Haha.
