  1. I would've thought it's because rubber itself wears away, so anything painted onto it will do the same.

I'll watch out for that dude! It's funny about Karate really, some people have this view about it that it's a very long range punching and kicking art, but if you look at other styles, or even the teachings of Funakoshi, the guy who formed Shotokan, there's grappling in it. The real shame is that some of the people who are teaching it have the view that it's all long range stuff.
  3. Find someone with some sheet steel and tin snips.

I do Karate. I find that if you take an objectional view to it all, that's best. It's funny in a way, if you look at some old Karate books, by the old Okinawan masters, they essentially mention that martial arts should absorb the best parts of other martial arts. In fact if you look at Karate, if you take into account all of the styles of karate, and even within single styles, there's potential for huge variety, including real hard punching and kicking, elbow attacks, some jujutsu style locks and throws, and even some of the more fancy looking kung fu moves. MMA is good for the future of martial arts. Perhaps not so much for the purposes of self defence, but the idea of mixing it up is definitely a healthy approach.
  5. That's how it would react if it saw the Mirror newspaper too.
  6. I looked at mine yesterday and it was good but it seems to have changed now. Last time it was Fitness, Games, Rock Music, Music, and Hip Hop. So 3 out of 5 isn't bad. Now it's saying Reggaeton, Comics, Humour, Massive Multiplayer and Online Games. I don't think I've ever heard anything Reggaeton, let alone like it, and I pretty much never play video games. Try again, google.

Yeah, from what I'm seeing and reading, certain martial arts take to sport better than others. Some stuff like Wing Chun or JKD specialise in vital point strikes. Even traditional style Karate is like that, which is illegal in MMA fights. I definitely agree about needing to branch out. Even from a real life point of view, you need to have your back covered if someone wants to get their hands on you. I can definitely say this from some experience sparring with a mate - you might know how to make a rock solid stance but if some dude can pick you up off the floor, it doesn't mean shit. Just watched that first video, so that's where that legendary kick is from!

I have internet again so I'm going to start watching these fights. Do you get people who specialise in some martial art more, or is everyone pretty much a kickboxer-BJJ fighter?
  9. I side with Ali, beginner bikes are best being neutral. That way you can explore to figure out how you want to ride, rather than be streamlined into one type of riding.
  10. Robocop looks cool. I like that there's that dumb thing that can't walk down stairs in it still.
  11. These puns are just not right (angle). They're so obtuse.

Cheers, I enjoy a good boxing match so I think I'll enjoy MMA even better. I'll check it out on youtube. Keep posting some good fights up!

where do you guys watch your MMA stuff?
  15. I, erm, didn't go for the MOT. I did a very bad thing, related to my exhaust leaking at the manifold. So yeah, I need to get the other half of the stud out.
  16. It only came with one peg so I used a bmx stunt peg for the other one haha.
  17. Congratulations! Round two of my MOT tomorrow. It failed on a rear suspension bush having too much play, some cocksmoker had taken the m10 bolt out and put an m7 one in. No wonder it failed... There was a couple of other dicks things like I covered the rear reflector with my L plate, and it needed rear foot pegs for all those passengers I'm going to carry illegally.
  18. I, er, want one of those quite a lot. I think it will make a nice degree completion reward
  19. It's one of them there changes of opinion that people are allowed to do.
  20. I like the name. Is there a release date? Is it still being tested?
  21. The most useful tools are 4, 5 and 6mm allen keys. You can do most of the maintenance with those, so you should be all set already! Some other tools that come in handy swapping bits over are a chain tool, crank extractor, bottom bracket tool, and perhaps a headset rocket. That's roughly the order of most useful, too.
  22. He said on his website that he's going to design some parts and test some cool ideas for bike frames, maybe like some kind of brake mount. Then, like everyone's favourite Austrian robot, he'll be back.
  23. I think that something like this, that instills a decent sense of discipline and that would encourage a good level of fitness in people, is good. I'm not as sure about actually having to go to Iraq and kill people and get blown up. It does kind of make sense that all the men in the country have a role in protecting it, seeing as it's kind of all of ours, although this idea doesn't fit well with the current theme of going to war to make money. I wouldn't be interested in doing that.
