I think in gibsons/epiphones, the standard ones are better than the special ones. Seeing as you're in notts, check out the Music Inn on alfreton road, its got loads of guitars and loads of amps. They have some very nice guitars there For your price, epiphone are the range you want. I assure you, though, as you progress you'll definately want a better amp and guitar. For your amp, to stick to around £200 total, you might want to look at a Marshall MG10CD. It's only 10w, and the overdrive function is mediocre, and I guarantee it will go wrong at least once when you've had it for a year. However, its a good starter amp. You could also have a look at Roland cube amps. When you have more money to spend on the amp, from what I understand of your guitar choice, I'd recommend a Vox AD30VT, but that's for later... Anyway, play the amps and play the guitars, its your choice so make it a good one not a quick one.
