You have indeed, but you spelt 'breaking' wrong I use the pedal up for most things, because it allows you to gather momentum. However, a rider friend of mine hinted to me that a lot of the height can be gained by preloading properly. This means, if you preload right, a static can be higher. This is quite true as well because if you think about it, some people can sidehop 9 pallets, which is a static technique, but to do something similar to a pedal up at the same height, they have to tap it.
