  1. what is your job role ? hope use the same stamdard of cnc lathes to machine the bodys of the hubs as king, you should know your self that most decent compaines use the same machines. and as for the materials both compaines use high grade materials so id say that the prodution and workman ship which goes in to both are pretty high, but its just the the king design and drive system is so far ahead of hope thats where they part and king bearings are secound to none. the drive rings are matched using a microscope as well dont think hope do that and as for saying hope are better because riders like stan shaw use hope that doenst make it better, as im sure stan could use both no problems same as pretty much most top riders infact i know a fair few riders who say they could never go back to a hope im not saying hope are crap cus iv rode the new trials hubs and from what i sawt they felt nice and i could use one given time to get used to it, but imo id still keep my king by the way im a toolmaker for ina bearings, if you look you will find some in hope hubs
  2. it will dig in a lil just like any other cog but not much, you wont have a problem running it in there speaking from experence by the way, just before people say im full of shit
  3. Dave sorted me out with a very late entry for the comp on monday, sound bloke
  4. they both have the same bearings
  5. bmx shell and mtb/road shell are all the same but the shell on the single speed is different the drive shell and axle is different apart from the road and mtb have same axle but a differnt axle end meaning ones 135mm and the other is 130mm
  6. do you even own a king hub mat? have you eben worked on one? do you even know how they work are you quailfied to make coment on all of the above i expect its a no for all well done i have a few king hubs are they never skip when maintained correctly, and when they are due for a service the they some times skip but its so small you dont notice just a get a noise from the hub
  7. ok guys you can listen to me if you wish but if you dont i, not really bothered just trying to save you lot time money and effort joe you marta is most probly leaking if its lacking power iv had that a few times try some water on it and if it makes a shit nosie then im right magura will replace the calliper for you no charge
  8. its just a bike thread, the pitch is 1mm i think, but you check that any way, and most bike shopes have the tap so no need to worry or just buy a tensile incert and tap the cranl to take it simple as pie
  9. whats the point in this topic, chris king products are far better than hope its as simple as that, hope bearings tent to last about 4 years on xc bikes king bearing last aroud 20 years, well never actually saw any worn out king bearings, not counting ones that have been f**ked due to miss use and not adjusted hub correctly. if a king hub is maintaned properly it will never slip thats a fact, its possible for the hope to slip if the pawls land on the edage but there not much chance of this, with a king it cant happen pain and simple king is best, just cus people f**k them by not looking after them that doesnt make them crap
  10. your far better off getting an incert make like the same idea on tensile craks, 9/16'' right or left thread in the inside about 14.30 so you would need the incert to be 13mm or so to tap it and about 16mm od drill the hole in the crank 14.5mm and tap it turn a thread on the outside of the the incert and screw it in with some sort of thread lock and then you can tap the inside of the incert if you got to ur local engineer the should be able to make you one, should take to long
  11. get some one decent to build the wheel for you, it makes a massive dfference
  12. lol joe its cus your bigger than stan and me and only 14

  14. please dont use the sintered pads
  15. thats cus they were covered in fluid/oil you should try some on your chain
  16. ali please dont use sintered pads in the marts as they will get to hot and melt the plastic piston, only use organic pads for this reason the best pads fo the marta are the koolstops can be found on ebay for about £15 there is a reason magura use organic pads so listen to me on this one and save your brake/life
  17. arnt all frames replica's of the ones they sell to the public? and you can see the blue paint under the black

  20. or just locate the spring retainer as the pretty much the only thing that will make if do that, apart from damaged parts which would be more aparent
  21. front and rear alex rims
  22. if the hub is new you should be able to back pedal with out the chain going slack. during the first 60 hours of use above average amonts of drag my be noticed not enough to warrant a new mech, increase the cage tension on the mech
