  1. If you think about what happens to the frame and forks when u hook it might help, the headtubes being pulled apart, and the wheels not being locked can only allow the wheelbase to be flexed even more! Putting more stress through the headtube. When the wheels are locked the tyres are acting as anchor points stopping the amount of flex, with rim brakes the wheels won't move, with disc brakes the wheels will move a bit because of the flex from spokes etc.. It's probably just as easy to try and hook a double disc 26 then a magy if any local riders have them to see for yourself
  2. the difference is 20mm on disc rotor size, the koxx has a plus 20 mount which means its in the right place for a bigger rotor so if u had a koxx with plus 20mm you would run a number 5 with 160mm rotor but if you put the nunber 5 on an iso you would need a 140mm rotor you can also buy plus 20 adaptors etc from hope and some other company but in ur case you need a number 3 for the rear if you want 160mm
  3. Well considering Vincent was testing them and had them before any other koxx riders I'm sure he would have tested them for while in training before he would turn up to a public event, and I think I could crack a pair of sl forks in a week !
  4. Sounds like it's a heat treatment issue then, which doesn't have to affect the zhi frames Sounds like it's a heat treatment issue then, which doesn't have to affect the zhi frames
  5. I love how he gets criticised so much, he's obviously just jumped on that for a quick play, looks like it's right outside his home! pretty decent size side hope, and nice style. Pretty awsome really being able to jump on and do that
  6. I still think without the insert they are much stronger than sl's took Vincent a while to snap them
  7. You can always make ur own insert like most others
  8. Llike I said i could be wrong! I guessed that it was double disc, but wrong colour, and regarding double disc 26 the spokes and wheels flex loads, compared with magura which makes them harder to hook! I think hooking brakeless is going to put much more stress through the frame and forks, yea it may look smooth! I still stand by what I said as to the crack I don't think that's caused by hooking When it comes to hooking I think they are one of the more tricky moves to learn so the majority of riders don't do them so for the 4 frames they had back surely the odds that's all the 4 owners did loads of hooks with them is pretty slim, so it suggests that the crack was caused by stress from something else
  9. should i have added an aluminium frame? i doubt thats caused by to many hooks, looks like a sky double disc, hooking a double disc 26 isnt that easy. i wouldnt be surprised if the owner had ever done and hooks on it, but then again i could be totally wrong lol
  10. hes got just as much right to self promote him self just like any one else
  11. why not try rollings bars forwards a bit, otherwise you just need to practice
  12. Nice rolling gap to manual in Sa1 swans looks small
  13. Can I come ride ur garden
  14. Any frame will snap at the headtube if you do enough hooks
  15. Ha ha that's an amazing vid, used to watch that when I first started trials. Must have been well ahead of it's time
  16. What headset was used to test the forks? Pretty sure most people used an echo headset theses days that has a split race, although you could say the manufracture of the headset has a design issue, simpl fix would be a larger chamfer to clear the radious on the crown race
  17. I didn't find the burpees to help that much, I was doing it as part of circuit training for a year but never did get to try a weighted vest, I basically looked at Gilles when at ucis and noted where he seems to have muscle and not, For some one of his build he's got small biceps but rather big triceps, especially his inner tris He's got big legs an a massive arse Also traps and delts are very toned For me the biggest gain was triceps and standing vertical jumps onto a 36 inch platform Chris I'm really open minded to try out some of ur ideas, as I think my technique is pretty good, not as good as it could but getting there! Really want to increase my explosive power!
  18. you say that you hang out with all these pros and so on, only problem i can see is that the trining that these guy are doing isnt really some thing that you can simply switch over to trials, i think trials is so under developed that its hard to say what works best, who really knows what the top guys do, and what maybe works weel for them etc.. perhaps its just luck that damon and tra are crazy strong and also crazy good at trials? i have often wonderd how much of trials skill is natural talent or training, or even the company of riders they train with. i am personaly really interested in the different trainning types, and have been training on and off in the gym for about 3 years, personaly upon my first year of gym work i built up a fair amount of extra mass, around 8-10 kgs, yes i was pretty strong for my build already due to trials even after i got much stronger i didnt really notice a big difference to my static moves, basicaly canceling the extra strength-weight. now i ride more and less gym and with improved technique my riding has improved. but as i was saying, maybe different training helps different people. the gym trainers were fairly shocked when i did a vertical jump test and found that im only just above average. so i think my next goal will be to try and improve that, so im interested to see what kid of excersises will help that and my riding.
  19. larsens sm to be grippy, but fold way to much and puncture pretty easy, would have to agree with Bessel
