  1. In general most trialtech parts are strong and light enough, apart from the cranks. The material is just to soft. I'm a little disappointed that people arnt greatful that companies are trying to develop better trials components, it's a big factor that's pushed the limits of riding to today's standards. People starting off trials these days have it so easy. Regarding the technology of bikes compared with ten years ago. These days you can learn a back hop in ten mins with bikes that are light and sit on the rear wheel with ease. Of course the limited testing that companies such as echo are doing which is very limited is a draw back but trials parts take a very different level oh abuse from different riding styles it's impossible to test conclusively. That's where you as the rider really needs to consider every thing fully before buying a 300gram pair of cranks to do 12ft drop gaps over and over At the end of the days it's comon sense and I would rather see the limits being explored rather than just stagnating So there will be failures! That's just part of it.
  2. If you would compare both you will find the anodised is slightly stronger. Not alot but in a comparison. Mavic also claimed that the ceramic coating they added to their rims years ago made them stronger.
  3. Yea I agree better off with new pads. But blow torch never really gets them hot enough, I was putting them in the oven at 200 degrees c
  4. Depending in the surface depth, in most cases it's about 10 microns that's 0.01mm unless it's a hard coat process for improved moving resistance ie less friction for moving parts such as pistons etc This process can result in a lower fatigue but the surface depth can vary from 25 microns to 50 microns, generally the coatings used to colour the surface improve the surface hardness and improve resistance a fair bit. You can try to scratch your anodised part with some thing sharpe and to compare try to do the same to some plain alloy. From my experience in maching anodised alloys compared to it in its natural state it's it's tougher
  5. Dont think drei has plain silver ones. I think you would be surprised how much stronger anodised aluminium is
  6. Put the pads in the oven for half hour,it will get most of the oil out but won't be as good as new pads
  7. Pretty good in its own right but it needed more riding IMO
  8. Avoid the bicep curl movements. And I'm pretty sure you won't get the arm pump. Which I would guess isn't arm pump maybe tendinitis
  9. I live in this town and I don't know of any riders that I can remember having a bike like this.
  10. Steve ripping it up in his samba's yes...
  11. Tryall hole I own or have owned all of these
  12. http://www.eengoedidee.nl/parsefiles/?type=bike-trials&filename=trialsride.com_vid.avi Slightly off topic but that's still a great video by today's standards
  13. I'm just making you aware that kenny's broken wrist was nothing to do with the sections being dangerous.
  14. Kenny broke his wrist out of his own stupidity ? He attempted to drop off the van with a flat rear tyre, not the same is it
  15. Chain reaction cycles. I might have a crown race spare from a sky headset if you need me to have a look
  16. This topic needs to be closed. Turning out that who ever thinks Gilles is a fanny is just having a moan. The very people who know the least about what goes on at comps, dare I say it bmxers (not to offend btw) The main point and only point that neededs to be made is the organisation of the trial and no foresight about what the weather could do. It was obvious from the Friday that it was going to turn into a mudd bath. All they needed to do was to set it out on the flat hard standing areas there. The warm up area was just as good as normal. But became muddy around it. If it was dry sections would have been fine.
  17. I'm sure if Gilles wanted to ride in mudd up to his spokes he would have gone to the bius
  18. It's 42 degrees the hope one will work fine
  19. Trials is a dangerous sport any one could fall and break an arm on a 4ft rock The condition was the same all day. Gilles and his brother both said they were not going to ride out of protest, but they then rocked up at the start.
  20. Gilles knew Vincent had won so he quit, he did try and get all riders not to ride in protest because he knew he would get beaten in the muddy conditions. If he was protesting he should have refused to start.
  21. Do you ever ride rocks ?
