  1. I'll leave this here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0gvqLZIQss Cracking piece of marketing.
  2. Yeah man! Awesome shizznit. In all seriousness though, the sound quality is immense.
  3. Saw Phil today He was busy, so I double clamped my exhaust and fitted a new dogbone. Exhaust is now mounted in such a stupidly over kill way that it will never rattle or sag ever again. Two U clamps per join at opposites to give 360* of tension, a support rubber made up from a TFSI centre section and new rear hangers with zip ties pulling the Y pieces tighter. Not having race grade lower mounts ha made my car so much nicer to drive normally. Dash shakes like a raped smack addict when you light the wheels up though. A pair of R Tech tuned beasties in tip top shape. Over and out.
  4. In terms of twat laps I am a fairly nervous passenger. However with Prawn I never feel scared. Unless he is driving my own car. Usually sideways with one hand on the handbrake and one at opposite lock.
  5. Looks good Alex. I've been looking at this -http://www.southampton-cars.co.uk/used-cars/volkswagen-golf-2-0t-gti-3dr-southampton-201324518257108 And if it's still there when I go home, I may buy it. Driving around in Joe's all week has left me totally in love with them.
  6. I just got a HTC One. Hoooooly sheeeet; I've had a LOT of phones. But this is in a different league. Stupid shit, like Total Wipeout being annoying in the background whilst installing all my apps etc so I just opened the TV app, and changed the TV to Top Gear.
  7. ctrl-v/ Audi got a new DV today. Because she's been a good girl. I'm eeking it out until I get home and have funds available to fix all the little things that annoy me, **** me this thing refuses to give up though. It's been lapping it up in the hot weather we've been having, I've taken it out for a couple of midnight hoons across the moors etc and all has been good. I might post some pictures tomorrow. I am fairly certain I have a boost leak as power and boost are both fluctuating on full throttle, but it is totally random and some times it is perfect. So I may have to chat up Phil Mil and have a smoke test done on Sunday if he is about. But I'm not too bothered. She has been spending a lot of time round at her younger brothers house this week too, and as such is feeling neglected because George the Golf is always immaculate, and poor old Audi is used and abused these days. Love that thing though. (Audi will still show it a clean pair of heels any day though ) *oh, the fannying airbag light has decided it light up because I left it at work over night.
  8. Ponton shape Mercs are brilliant, I love them. Job looks fun, wish I was still doing it
  9. Did the D2's f**k up? I seem to remember suggesting that they would when you got them. AST are the nuts, I drove a Clio on AST units and it was immense.
  10. My 1.9td had a bit of a wobbly crank pulley; but most of them do. Then eventually they fall off and kill everything. The downpipe flexi was split too. That said, I did 5000 miles in it over 4 months.
  11. I had a 1.9td Passat B3 which had done 330k. Was spot on.
  12. Cheers, yeah it will be decked either way. That said my dad is very anti-modifying, and likes to do period modifications. My dad wants me to get all Aquaplane tuning kit for it, so a high compression head, upgraded valves, free flow individual manifold (inlet and exhaust are built into one) and a low drag water pump then run it on two Amal GP bike carbs. Which will double it's HP...To 22... Personally as it's a toy and my baby, I would enjoy doing the period tuning route. And it will be worth a lot more in the long run. I'd like to do something like this - I'll get some pictures of my dads project when I go home, it's his style though and through. Early ZA MG Magnette, running a supercharged B series engine with a high lift cam, big valves and dry sump, MGA front discs, MGA back axle and Fiat gearbox. He's fully seam welded the shell and anti tramped the entire suspension setup.
  13. Tuning up old Ford V6's is so shocking, performance to £ it is just unoly. Pinto's tune up better, but don't sound anywhere near as rewarding. Have you thought about using Mk3 2.8 Injection Bilstein suspension? Yep, feeling a bit guilty about chopping up the Pop. It might stay the same and I might just slam it on the deck, not sure. Also not sure if I can do it justice myself, hence dads help. I would love to turn it into a track toy/hill climb/navigation point to point competitor. But I lack the skills and motivation to do so.
  14. Go to as high as 3.4 on a standard block, if you want. Older Ford V6's (especially the Essex engine, but Cologne too) have low compression ratios for a number of reasons (low octane fuel, easy starting, less internal stresses), changing to a 3.0 and upping the compression with appropriate pistons (even as high as 11:1, but probably 10:1) will give a pretty sizeable increase in over all performance. 3.0's still rev quite nicely, 3.1's and above become quite lazy and torquey cars to drive because you generally speaking stroke the engine to get that displacement. As far as I can remember anyway, haven't been into OSF's for a few years now I did have a 3.2 Scimitar GTE back in the day, with a huge downdraft weber, electronic ignition and ported heads. Was a pretty rad bit of kit.
  15. I think that is a much nicer idea; start a legacy of your own. X pack makes a HUGE width difference, which also makes them hugely impractical. I'd personally be fitting webers, over boring it to 3L, and trying to find a set of Swaymar 6 port heads. Properly period modifications which will see it around 170/180bhp. - Kylie is getting some love over winter when I get back, she's swapped onto my insurance now so I will be using it at the weekends. Dad's got a Pinto, I need to buy the bulkhead and tunnel panels, I need to get a Sierra steering rack, a set of Capri struts, a Type 9 box and a 105e rear axle. Then give it all to my dad and wait a month haha.
  16. Personally... I've always thought X-Pack cars look shite, as do many others. So the resale value of an X-Pack replica will be lower for sure and the market will be narrower. But I appreciate how much the car it is based on means to you, and after all it's all yours and it's your project to do with as you please. It would be much smarter to go down the resto route, it also might be a cool twist on it to build your own Capri rather than a replica? I dunno, I'm pumped for the opportunity you've been given and lets face it whatever you do it's going to be an epic Capri
  17. Well, my chance to help somebody has been ruined by Robin haha. As Robin said, perfect advice. If he has upgraded the intake pipe, make sure he uses the original MAF until it is mapped too.
  18. Not the quickest things in the world, but they do drive very nice. I had a total minter, loved it. First thing to check when you get it is the rubber carb mount for splits, yet to see an original one which isn't split Good work.
  19. Yeah I am about tonight Rainbird, more than happy to dock into your port.
  20. The dullest of dull updates. I did 600 miles in this in the last two days, spent over 12 hours in the car. Currently running very well, and looking great. I just got home from a drive back from Basingstoke on the 303 at night...need I say any more? For the first time in about a month intake temps were sub 15* tonight, with ambient outside temp at 20*, so the IC was doing it job bloody well! As such it was really loving it and gulping in as much air as possible, which has put my G/s logs back above 190 for the first time in months. Very happy that it's still got it in it. Took a variety of pictures in Basingstoke over the weekend - Home at last Substantial lows with a full tank of fuel! Spotted this beautiful Velvet M3 in Basingstoke multi storey. Peeekabooo! How many Turks to clean an A3? Every time I go there they say "sick car bro! We have dude who bring racing Audi car here!" (which means Prawn) Interior - Creeping up on the diesel French coupe. In the car park - I love having a shiny bumper again!
  21. My old 900 Turbo is up for parts on eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-900-CLASSIC-TURBO-16S-FULL-BODY-KIT-3-DOOR-HATCH-BREAKING-CAR-/251268680425?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a80c7cae9 They want more for the body kit than I sold the car for 4 years+ ago It had over 170K on it when I told it, so it must have done at least 200K by now. Good innings I say; she was a good old girl.
  22. I am going to be doing some radical shit with this thing over the winter -
  23. [copy and paste from ASN] A great afternoon/evening indeed, Phil Miller to the rescue again! A steering rack change with inner track rods swapped, from drive in with the wheels on to drive out with the system bled in under an hour...Un-human mechanical legendary! I can't thank you enough bro. I fitted an LCR rack a couple of months ago, and it had more holes than a holey thing. Leaked like a sieve. I've put 7L of CHF in it in the last month...At £11 a bottle! So I picked up an S3 rack on ebay for £50 posted (I think) and touch wood after a 25 mile drive this one doesn't leak Also, everybody knows my front bumper is f**ked and I have to turn the saturation and contrast up in my pictures to hide it. If you didn't know, that's what I've been doing for the last year... Well I wasn't having that! I bought a bumper off eBay, paid an extortionate amount for it because I was told it was non metallic black and immaculate. Straight bolt on part...It turned up in Volcano grey haha! So I spent a month, in my shed, like a man, with rattle cans and wet and dry. And I must say I'm rather pleased with the results And a cheeky engine shot, so you can see where the magic happens.
