I am pleased with this.

Ds2500's are not soft... Use Dragons Breath by ValetPro. Insane stuff, spray it on, wipe it with a cloth, wash it off. Perfect wheels.
-
Faster mean piston speed than an F1 car, it can take an over rev. Relax.

What's wrong with that?! - I probably removed 20bhp's worth or wiring today. I hate wiring, I hate it I hate it I hate it! What I hate more is removing over complicated shot wiring, that's all the same colour because whoever wired it in was either colour blind or full special. This beautiful two wire pressure switch... Is replacing this contraption of pure evil...cut from the car it was infecting with it's leeching wiring. Methanol, boost, low EGT's and IAT's, and FLAMES.

I'll have a look at those, thanks for the heads up.

Prawns got my old 312's. I'm sure £50 will buy them from him.
-
Yup 323's. I've got vented EBC discs. Thinking of going up to 3000's or finding some non road use race pads. Once you've had brakes like that, you'll never go back.
-
M1177's, outstanding bad boy pads. Love those things so much, they just worked no matter what you did. Face hurting stopping power.
-
Bedded in perfectly, multiple stops from 100 to walking pace until there was smoke pouring off them then drove for fifteen minutes without touching the brakes at all. Maybe I am asking too much of them, or expecting too much. I want to change the pads, before the upcoming sprint day. I'm just not happy with them, either it's my insistent use of crazy wheel cleaners constantly or that I've done something wrong. But either way I don't like them so they've got to go.

DS 2500's, probably the least confidence inspiring brakes imaginable. Brake once. Flat, no bite, no power. Brake the second time. Reasonable bite, good stopping power. Brake the third time. Nothing. They would be better if they were always poor, or always alright. But because you never know what's going to happen when you press the pedal it's really unnerving. Fluid is fresh, and properly bled. Discs were only 1000 miles old when the pads went in; and had been replaced with new standard pads at that time. After the Mintex race pads I used to run these just don't cut it. I'm not overly inspired that GT Junior calipers (I don't have LCR brakes, not that there is any performance difference) are up to the job of repeatedly stopping a 1450kg 290bhp car.

Bye bye cam drive...

No, Ctrl V first to remove the recommendations and thanks from another forum, then Ctrl C to take the edited post and bang it on the next forum. But I get your drift, and like your video none the less. X

Ctrl:V Ctrl:C Went for a bit of a drive yesterday, pulled over to take some pictures of my car and some dodgy looking race car build was in the background. Went for a nice drive with the guy who owned it, he was a nice enough chap. On the way home I discovered one of the best reasons to keep the Recaros for now. Decided I want meth again, fed up with it not working. Its a right mess... Boo. The engine bay is also a bit slack, all the boost hoses were finger tight. Managed to get 3 or 4 turns out of every boost hose clip, two clips were broken...it's a lot nicer to drive now, smoother, more torque, more power. Which means... 500 miles on the clutch, time for a launch. Steering boss is here, Nardi wheel is on the way. Just want to get paid at the end of this month to buy some 595's and get rid of these poop brakes.

That's f**king BS Robin. What a shame. With regards insurance or compensation, I doubt there is anything in place to protect the financial investment of the car? - Well lads. Almost a month after the clutch first slipped and I took it off the road, after multiple breakdowns and little issues that I had overlooked it is all good now. So the clutch bleeding block related drama is all sorted, anybody who has seen one of these bleeding blocks will know that the clips are rather specific. Unfortunately the CM bleeding block I purchased wasn't right, it's just too thick to go between the gearbox casing and the starter motor. Very poor design. I ground it down and filed it as much as I could to try and fit it but in the end I just threw it in the box and gave up wth it. The anodising was so thick it didn't push over the slave, it really was terribly designed. So I spent all night working that on. But ultimately couldn't get it to work. Because the clips weren't quite tight enough or to the right design when I pushed the clutch pedal the bleeder block just slid off the end of the slave cylinder. Ordered a complete new block with clips in the end. Dad came all the way to Hastings to help me find a way to secure the bleeding block and pressure bleed the system then give everything a spanner check before heading home. Lots of zip ties later, the block was secure enough to drive home with no clip. Limped it to work for two days whilst I waited for the new block to arrive. Replaced the clips, and it's perfect now. Gave the car a clean, after three weeks outside a dusty workshop and a drive to Hastings late at night it was FILTHY. Did Bethan's Beetle whilst I was at it. Then went on a mini shopping spree to celebrate everything being back together. Ordered a steering wheel boss and a 320mm steering wheel, a load of interior trim bits a Halfords Pro 100 odd piece tool kit, loads of track day related bits and pieces. My Club GTI membership came through so I can go to the Sprint Day. All is good! The clutch feels great, I would recommend t to everyone. I've got 400 miles on it now and t feels very strong, I haven't launched it yet but I will do over the next few weeks. There is a little bit of judder in reverse by otherwise it feels like standard. It's very light and the engagement is very quick. All in all I am very pleased to have it back on the road. Next month it is getting new tires, and potentially some tasteful buckets and the back stripping out. I've had the back seats out of it this week because I am moving house, and I haven't missed them at all. Rods are the next thing on the list, I may buy them next month and take the car off the road for two weeks in October and have a bit of a rebuild. I can't see me selling this any time soon now, it's cost me too much already. I am trying to talk Prawn into helping me fit this boost switch for the meth so that I can get that up and running.

Yeah, didn't work.

Wellll multiple break downs later I did in fact get to Hastings. When we took it all apart, the clips on the bleeding block snapped. It would have been £4+ £15 in fuel to go to TPS to get new ones. Or for £20 I could buy an aluminium bleed block with no restriction in it. And new clips. The block turned up, with its new clips and seals. Dad went to fit it but the anodising was so thick on it that it didn't fit. So he out it back in the box, used the O-rings and seals and then the clips and put it all back together. All worked fine for an hour and a half, had 100 miles on the clutch and decided to press on a little bit. Pegged it down a gear quite firmly to over take and pulled it through 4th at 3/4 throttle. Went to change to 5th...No clutch! Pedal was on the floor. So looking like a total lemon I put the hazards on, pulled onto the verge and popped the bonnet. The clips for the larger aluminium bleed block don't fit the old one. To put it simply. They hold the block on, with a fair force. But not enough to really clip in and stop it being pushed off from a quick clutch press. Luckily this time I hadn't popped it right off, and the bleed block had just slid half the way off the slave with the clutch press but with no pressure it wasn't going back. So I pushed it on, pumped the clutch and it came back. Gently got it into 4th and stayed there ten minutes. Then it kept popping off until eventually I lost all clutch and fluid at 11pm on the A21 with no battery on my phone on my way to see all my drunk friends. Limped it there with no clutch, raided the tool box and polished down the anodising on the bleed block. Luckily dad left the old slave and new bleed block in the car. Going to refit and cross fingers once it's a social hour to be working in the middle of the road.

Aaand it's broken again.
-
And I'm driving to Hastings to celebrate. Good times.
-
My dad claims that it will be back on the road today. I hope so, because if it is I'm driving it to Hastings tonight straight after it being in a million pieces. Car faith ***.
-
Instagram was cool when I was posting pics of it, just because you've knocked puberty on the head and discovered the contrast button doesn't mean it's still on fashion... Lulz.
-
Yes. - Clutch is in, gearbox and transfer box are in bolted up, subframe is hand tightened in place and the engine it back on its mounts. Dad's having a pissy fit about it all, so the front end rebuild isn't happening. It's all got to come apart again for that. And I'm booked in for the club GTI sprint day in September.

I've seen It there, just haven't had time to open it and give any reply to a meaningful response. Tonight I will.

FINALLY got my refund from Technicunts, let the spannering begin. Can't wait to get stuck into it again. Get this clutch saga out the way, get it bed in properly then a four wheel alignment and booooooost back on my life. I've been driving my pop and a mix of Fiat 500's for the past two weeks. So bored.
