Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread
Pashley26 replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Chit Chat
f**king stupid is what it sounds to me. Bearing in mind, she's a 26 year old with two degrees, been a school teacher for 6 years, lived on her own for 6 years and most importantly has multimillionaire parents I'm not WORRIED about her at all. I'm just a bit shocked that all the time we lived together, for the last 10 odd years I've known her, for the months we were together 6 odd years ago (before I turned into a dick) she has always been incredibly logical and excellent and planning things. We'd go out for the weekend and before I've even woken up she's made us lunch, packed the car, programmed the satnav, walked to the shop to get cash out, prepared the dinner for when we get home. f**king mental daily living skills and preparation. I appreciate she's probably really enjoying NOT having that level of in-charge-ness, but maybe just a little bit of it might be wise when travelling the world? I'm not making it difficult for her to go though, I paid for her plane tickets FFS. I don't care that she hasn't gone with me any more, I'm having much more fun being a super pro race car driver. I think she's got the wrong end of the stick slightly, but then that was later rectified. She seemed to think that because she said she didn't want to go with me, I resented the idea. But actually I thought it was a ridiculous idea from day one, but me suggesting I would go too was just a way of making it happen when her friends dropped out because I knew she couldn't go alone. -

My missus has gone travelling for 4 months with a friend of hers, month in Malaysia, travelling up to Thailand and then two months in Australia. She flew last week, got there and found out that the "international" sim she had bought meant she couldn't actually call out, only into international countries. Well obviously... She got a bus 6 hours south to the hotel they had booked for their first three nights, got there and they said they had cancelled their booking and that they were fully booked and literally closed the door on them. Two girls, 10 at night, backpacks on, not a clue where they were and no phones. f**king great. Called her friend in Thailand who has lived there for a year, found out where they were then an international rescue mission took place her friend got them a space in her very very distant friends boyfriends parents floor for two night.s. Then they got a bus, walked and tram to Kuala Lumpur and they stayed at a friends house for another night. Now they've got to their hostel and they've been told that the showers are broken and the Wifi has broken. They're meant to be staying there for two weeks until they travel up to Thailand. Positives are they haven't been killed and raped yet. But otherwise, how the f**k is this a holiday rather than an international ruckus tour of the world/incredibly unrewarding hard time? Surely she is just going to come back with a falsely inflated value of her own purpose (just like graduates) because "yah when I went travelling' and no real actual experience in the real world. Unless eating tinned spam and rice crackers then showering in your own boiled piss and a bottle of Carex is classed as world experience? I guess I've just got a rant on because I miss her a bit. And I know this constant string of dramas and piss poor preparation wouldn't have happened if she had of been less stubborn and let me go too. She was supposed to be going with a friend that I f**kig hate (because she's a filthy slag with loads of money and posh parents, we all know the self righteous fanny) but she dropped out for a fairly standard posh girl excuse (Bohemia tie die festival in Cornwall that she just "had" to attend or some shit) so I said "I'll go with you, f**k it let's go see the world." "No, it won't be the same. I won't get to see people and meet people, and if I go with another girl we will be more approachable and if I went with you we would always be the couple." "So you want to go and f**k people is what you're basically saying?" "No, not at all." "Well it sounds like that." Well it doesn't, because I'm not interested in f**king other people. And this is why I'm not taking you." "Because I'll get in the way of you taking it up the shitter from a some stranger on a beach in Australia?" "Yes that's exactly why. Twat." Is how the conversation went in short. Rar. Hang on. I'm ranting because she just Facetimed me for the first time since she left and told me all of the top section of this rant. -
There's plenty of them out there converted, and it can all be done with 100% genuine BMW parts. There's quite a few E36's and I've seen a good handful of E46's.

Do you mean the price difference between the Golf's, Leon Cupra and A3's compared to the R32, Cupra R's and S3's? Or do you mean in general because they're cheap? They're not just "a model down" though are they. When you're in the used car market the top of the range is always the car that you aspire to own. Nobody looking at a Cupra wouldn't want an R if they could afford one, and anybody looking at a GTI wouldn't want an Edition or R32 if they couldn't afford one. The only objection might be the S3 where you could argue that you don't want the AWD. But still, I'm sure 99.99% of people would aspire to own the higher priced model. Leon Cupra R's were £18,055 with metallic paint when they were new in 2004. Now they're realistically selling for £3000. Cheaper to buy, a newer car built on very old technology. An S3 was £27,149.78 as a basic price, with VAT, delivery, metallic paint and tax. Now they're realistically selling for £3000. However, they're 6 years old than the Leon. The oldest car, and the most expensive which has had an extra 6 years to depreciate. So realistically I think this has depreciated in the same way as the LCR has. An R32 was £23,228 on the road with metallic paint. Now they're selling for £4500. So if anything is suprising, it's that the R32 is worth so much considering they're not as fast as the LCR, lesser equipped than the S3. And have a dirty f**king door handle as a boot handle. But that's entirely because of Edition 38 and stupid hipster muppets who wear heelies and shit.

I don't very often lose at things

As a slight side note, the tread pattern on that front Pirelli is almost identical to what you could buy on a P Zero Corsa, which is now discontinued but still available on eBay in odd sizes and is fully road legal. I find it really interesting that a road tire that Pirelli pulled from production in 2005 through 2006 has an almost identical tread pattern as a current F1 wet. The Corsa was a stupidly great tire, so it just strikes me as quite cool.
-
Not really. The ONLY comparable cars are TT225's and S3's which are exactly the same price.

Rain in the pit lane How has button done 22 laps on his tires, then they're just going to use them again later. The guys a legend.

Those lap 18/19 overtakes by Redbull were most entertaining! I've only ever seen one person overtake on the outside of the curves, Keiichi Tsuchiya in the All Japan GT. He kind of runs wide into the first corner and boxes the S off. Do we think they'll get off Inters before the end of the race?

This is potentially the slowest race I've seen for a long time so far. (Lap8)

Because I'm a winner. And Schumacher and Vettel have exactly the same attitude as me. f**k everyone else so that I win. But Senna was the same. I cannot wait to see Kimmi and Seb together, I think they will work really well. And seriously, maybe not next season but 2016 if Sergio does what he says he is going to do to the F1 division of Ferrari I think they will be a strong force. I'm just happy that I will be able to support one team not two.

They do seem to have plummeted in price lately, you can buy an R for what you could buy a good LC for this time last year. Such great cars for the money. I've always wondered why you don't have an E46 M3, or a converted S52 E36 touring. Especially given how much your dad digs them.

I cannot stand football. Just because I like Ferrari and Seb it doesn't mean I'm some sort of simpleton. What you're attempting to do right now says far more about you. Pretty much one if the earliest memories of mine was the 1994 F1 season, and going down the pub for a carvery with my dad and watching the racing. My dad was always a Senna fan and I was always a Schumacher fan, obviously Senna then died in San Marino and I continued to follow Schumacher through the 90's as I grew up. So I was always a Schumacher fan, then as I got old enough for Motorsport to actually mean something to me Schumacher signed for Ferrari in 96 and I had to have Ferrari EVERYTHING and everything had to be red. So in short if I like Ferrari and that upsets you, then sod off and stop being a stiff Jason. Sebastian Vettel is a modern day Schumacher, and he looks just like me. So I've got to think he's great, because were basically twins.

The mileage game is a fun one to play, because 9 times out of 10 I'll win. My grandpa used to own a Volvo 740, bought it new from Allen Edgar Volvo in 1987. In 2009 the speedo packed up, but the trip counter still worked and he knew what certain revs in certain gears equated to what speeds. He carried on using it for about two years for dump runs and things. I needed a car just for a couple of weeks whilst I waited between selling my A3 and buying my Clio 172. So Gramps gave me the Volvo because he couldn't bear to scrap it himself. Went and picked it up, 506,000 miles on it. So I made a bit of a joke with my grandpa about it, "it's had three heads and 7 handles but it's still the same old broom eh." My gramps wasn't having any of that. The thing had only ever had one clutch, and a new wiper for the drivers front headlight because somebody snapped it off. Everything else was just Volvo service schedule. Hugely irrelevant story, but quite a cool one. I've had loads of high mileage cars, I really like high mileage cars. I also like imagining old cars, but when they were new. And somebody ordering it, and picking it up from the dealership. Like, just imagine the guy who ordered my S3, picking it up. Brand spankers back in the day. Rolling around in what was almost the top of the range Audi of the time. It's cool.

Are Japanese cars exempt from failure then?
-
Are you implying that I (me, actual Jardo) am a "F1 fan by numbers" kind of F1 fan?
-
That's really not far away, maybe we should meet up and have a bum some day?

Sergio Marchionne is how. Vettel has already proven that given the right tools he can do the job. Sergio Marchionne is now president of Ferrari. And he has singled out the poor performance of the engine as being the largest problem for Ferrari in recent years. Sergio Marchionne will do ANYTHING to make Ferrari a superpower in F1 again.
-
So Seb's going to Ferrari. Wahoo! I can think of nothing better, hopefully my favourite driver (of recent years) can put my favourite team (of all time) back where they should be. Ferrari have good history with German drivers, and now that Sergio is playing a central role BIG things are happening at Ferrari.

I didn't realise you were local as such, where are you from?

It's ALL about Facebook these days. I know tuning companies that could fill up their diaries 24/7 just from Facebook. Try joining the local "Facebay" or "Forsale" page for your nearest town with a business page and slag yourself out to everyone. Good luck TB.
