Ok.
So I was all set to buy Pierre, the French Bulldog. 16 weeks old this weekend, so he went off for his Kennel Club checks, vaccinations and health assessments.
Unfortunately he has health implications, and has collapsed/restricted airways. Which would mean I couldn't get pet insurance for him, and his chances of having a heart attack from trying to regulate his temperature are high. The lady I was buying him from was very upset, because it will mean he will have a greatly reduced lifespan. She isn't happy to give him to me and she wants to keep him for herself because she's so conscious of his potentially short life span and the implications his ongoing health problems.
This made me unhappy.
When I was considering getting a French Bulldog, I wasn't even considering getting a French Bulldog. I was considering getting a Sphinx cat, but then Pierre came up and I had to have him.
Aaaaaanyway, what with Pierre now being un-homable I still felt like I need a pet. I've had a cat at my house forever, and they're considerably less upkeep than a dog.
So I spent two hours with what can only be described as the ultimate cat lady, and now have a deposit on Spartacus the Sphinx kitten. Who I believe to be second up from the bottom in the below picture.
Yep, I've bought a hairless cat called Spartacus.
