Last night Rainbiz bank transferred me the money for the Mk2 incase I needed to take it there and then. Totally unprompted, just sent me a Whatsapp offering. I didn't need the money in the end, but what an absolutely legendary thing to do. It's Rainbird through and through, good lad.

If only everyone was that quick at sending money haha!

Stopped in at The Phirm on the way home, they've got a set of 16'' Borbet T's with Yokohama Parada Spec 2's. They're brand new, and they want £450 for them. From an abandoned project. Whilst the tires are shit, I'm pretty tempted.

Muchos Gracias. The gass sunroof if an aftermarket Webasto one, it drops down and slides under the roof electrically. It's f**king gash. Carbon reskin is the most probably answer, have you ever reskinned a Mk2 roof? Fuel filler is mint, checked that. The rear wiper blank looked ok, it was dark. I quite like Atlas, but I'm almost certain there are parts of this car that are Pearl Grey too haha.

So. Cunting traffic! I hate the North Circular, and I swear if I wasn't going to look at a car I've wanted to own since I was 15 I'd probably have just crashed my Panda in the hope of knocking myself out so I was at least unconscious though the ordeal. Got to the guys house half an hour before he got home, it was dark, I was parked in a shifty place the neighbours thought I was a bit dodgy hanging around the garages and it was all a bit weird. Had a look around the car, hell it's straight and solid! There's a little dig in the drivers rear 1/4 on the swage line, there's a little bit of lacquer peel on the rear 1/4 passenger side by the roof, and two scuffs right on the corners where they meet the rear boot panel above the bumper. No biggie, the most important thing is that apart from a tiny bit of rust by the drivers wiper grommet it's not rotten anywhere. £500's worth of bodywork at trade, max. The owner turned up, has a chat with him, he's a spot on guy and knows what he's doing. There wasn't anything on the car that made me think 'thats f**king stupid.' Quite rare. Started up, straight away I knew I was buying it. He took me a mile down the road, it just confirmed my thoughts. We swapped over, I took it for a thrash. Yep, I'm buying it! There's a few mapping issues, it soft cut rev limits at 6K, there's a momentary dead spot if you floor it from 2/3000RPM, the engine mounts are a bit slack, but yeah it pulls good and strong in every gear. I told the guy I was buying it, job done. Pulled over to take a picture. I couldn't take it home tonight in the end, he's got an AFR gauge plumbed into it, the steering wheel on it was a present from his wife, and he wants to take the tow bar off. Fair enough. So I'm getting a train to him tomorrow and I'll take it home tomorrow. One last picture.

Right. This morning a 1.8t Mk2 came up on Club GTI. 6 people have said they WILL buy it, the guys told them I get first refusal because I was the first to get dibs on it and make an enquiry. Bad bits. Missing passenger door trim. This was the advert - It's £1500!!!! I need to buy it. ​Problem is, I've just balance transferred £2500 which I won't get until tomorrow. And don't have the £1500 until tomorrow. But I need to pay for it tonight and take it or the guys got a line of people prepared to buy it. So I'm going to go to London, look at it...And wing it.

Ironic postin this after Jason's last few posts... But what the f**k has happened to insurance?! Trying to insure this Mk2 is potentially one of the most impossible things I've done for ages. Brentacre want almost double to insure a Mk2 Golf with a VR6 in it that i'll do no more than 4000 miles a year in social circumstances only, will be kept in a garage during the day than they did for my S3 with all mods declared. It's not like I haven't had my license 7 years, have 7 years no claims, and a company car with personal use AND another car with 5 years no claims on it. £900?! AND they will only insure me if I have a cat 2 alarm fitted. Then when I said "thats insane!" They said "well you are young Mr Mardell, and the Golf GTI is a fast car." f**king wank holes.

We all know when I get a VR6 it will be the fastest and most savage car in the world ever. Until I sell it. *apparently* this one has cams in it and is mapped to 230bhp we'll see... - I'm usually fairly good at Google stalking, if my stalking is correct I think this is a picture of it in its hayday.

This one is a 2.8 OBD2 engine so I assume it's a 24v? I've only ever driven one Vr6 car, and that was a Passat syncro And it was slow as f**k. I can only hope it's a bit quicker with 400kg's shaved off haha. I was going to start the offer at £2500 if the car is alright, and didn't plan on paying any more than £2700. If I cant get it for that I will just buy the next one that comes up. I think I have found the original advert from when he bought it 5 years ago. There can't be that many two door Capri green VR6's about? I did see that one on eBay, it reminded me of Mr Beans car. It looks a hoot, but not my cup of tea.
