  1. It was a very expensive roof, but has a chip in the corner of it from transit. But it's more than nice enough for me. I haven't a clue how to get it home though. It's probably too fragile to courier. And too much hassle to rent a van for the day...So I have a plan!!! My plan is to drive the Golf to Mansfield where the roof is. Place it on the roof of my Mk2, tape the shit out of it with masking tape. And drive home. With a roof...taped to my roof. Ridiculous or genius?
  2. Direction change with the sunroof idea. It turns out that PAB off CGTI has a "spare" carbon roof which he is willing to sell me. When he fitted his to his multiple best in show winning Mk2 he literally just dropped it on top of the original roof skin. http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?196688-The-difficult-third-project&p=1915728&viewfull=1#post1915728 Awesome! Cut out the sunroof shit from inside, remove the finishing trim from the roof and prime the hole to stop any rusting, flat the roof and clean the living day lights out of it, remove the gutter trim, apply a thin layer of tiger seal, drop the carbon roof on and tape it down. Job done. A much neater solution, if 10x as expensive as the Lexan.
  3. As I understand it most bi-xenon lights work on a motorised flap which covers half of the beam? Is that right? My car has a hi-low xenon kit in it so it does main and dipped beam. I don't realy know how I am going to make main and dipped beam work, potentially by using a second set of projectors in the smaller driving lights and angling them up?
  4. Well with hindsight I've probably done the wrong thing. Mk2's just use a standard 7" sealed beam type unit. I could have just bought something like this - http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=331453660981 Screwed and tiger sealed it into the frame that holds the headlight and had a much neater finish?
  5. I just don't really like it, because I'm a miserable b*****d. Have you looked at a RAM MOTORSPORT mount? They're about the only suction mount you can use on track days now.
  6. That is dangerous as f**k and absolutely stupid. Sorry Dan, I'm not a fan at all. It's just incredibly dangerous, and I would be amazed if they even let you in the car park, let alone on a track with that. Sod having a half inch metal bar at shoulder/neck/head height affixed to the head rests. Those U bolts are going to absolutely ruin your spine, then when you fall out of your seat and are smashing your body up on the bar itself, that's all before the camera comes off and smashes through the windscreen or bounces around in the cabin at a high velocity.
  7. Didn't feel the same, she lied to me, split up with her. - Oddly I just opened the Happy Thread to share something hilarious. So this girl from the weekend, I met her through work when she bought a car off somebody else. The party I took her to at the weekend was a Fiat thing, she loves Fiat's and thinks they're amazing. My sales controller came to the same party as me, and he knows what's going on. But nobody at work can really know about it. About three weeks ago I offered a job to a mate of mine because we needed a trainee at work. He turned it down, but we are still looking. Who can see where this is going? My sales controller thinks that Hollie is f**king amazing, so this morning he told the sales manager to offer her the trainee job so I can teach her how to sell cars. f**k sake. She would be absolutely perfect for the job, literally perfect for it. But I'll have to knock this whole having sex with her thing on the head haha. f**k my life.
  8. I've just ordered some of those little projector units like George fitted to his Leon. I have a plan to fit some seriously bright f**kers to my Mk2, LED projector bulbs in the front fogs and white bi-xenons in the main lights.
  9. Best f**king top gear ever. This Peugeot shit is hilarious.
  10. I think as long as I don't f**k her more than twice a week I'll stay commitment free. Also she's still hugely in love with her ex boyfriend who has a kid with his ex girlfriend and split up with her because his ex stopped him being his kids because of her (yeah, f**ked up huh?), so it's a pretty mutual company/sex agreement until something better comes along. She knows it and so do I. It was pretty f**king awesome to go out to a party with a girl on my arm, have company all night and somebody to go back with but to still be able to neck all the other girls there and to be able to bin her off if something came along and vice versa. No pressure, no jealousy, no drama. First time I've taken somebody that I have this sort of relationship out with to anything, it was good. Shit like this only works if you're both on the same hymn sheet, and as long as one person doesn't cross the line into having any form of feelings for the other person you can't lose out with a f**k buddy. I've got two or three girls that I know well, who will give me a go if they're not in a relationship. But it's always a vicious cycle for me with them, because I get on REALLY well with a couple of girls, but where I was so narrow minded about the whole Bethan thing I stopped talking to them and distanced myself from them because I didn't want her to ever think they might come between us or that I was keeping them along just incase or something. So now it's all a bit awkward because I've ignored them a fair few times over the last 4 months and now I want them they've all gone off and got boyfriends for the winter. And actually, I should have just done them anyway. They wouldn't shit on me.
  11. Fiiiiiine, I'll get it painted. Haha.
  12. But if you dug deep you could fix that. This is actually a different colour haha. I'll just wrap it again, boom there's a waste of £30. Cheers Danny...
  13. Yeah, so that's f**ked. It's a different colour, it's faded and generally I shouldn't have touched the wrap.
  14. Bad idea, wish I hadn't done that. Pics in a second. f**k.
  15. Thing with the bonnet is that the paint is super faded underneath I think. f**k it, I'm going out to peel it off now
  16. I'm so knackered, got some work done on the Golf though. The DP gasket is off, I'll have to go and get a new gasket for it tomorrow. I refinished some horrible bits in plastidip. Grille is fitted properly now with the badge. The tints are gone off the lights. I removed the sun strip. Needs wheels SO badly now.
  17. The only picture I got of her last night was this one. Here's her last Facebook profile picture.
  18. Went to a ridiculous party last night all expenses paid and invite only, stayed in a mental swanky hotel called the W hotel in Leicester Square, got a Rickshaw to a private club at 1 in the morning and stayed there until 3:30, banged an 8/10 that I've been working on for a while and now she's well up for f**k buddy status, had a shit hot breakfast this morning and now I'm on the train on the way home and I'm going to spend the afternoon working on the Golf. Sunday's don't get much better than this.
  19. I found some pictures of my first Mk2. I also found some hilariously roadworthy pictures of Prawns car.
  20. I have both wheels, and tires. I've finally got the right grille. Get the wheels on, jack it up and it'll be good. *And fit a new front badge, because the current one isn't right and doesn't fit so it's just pushed on... Car drove perfectly on the way home, solid 1bar of boost everywhere, no issues changing gear woo. It's not the fastest car in the world ever, but it's a good place to start making one.
  21. No PCV system. It'll be fine. Wheels are here, woo. Need to get the tires fitted ASAP and the suspension up.
  22. Of cause it's fitted right haha. No VAC leaks. Put the old DV on that doesn't recirculate, back to how it was.
  23. So I have left the Golf for a couple of days whilst I have been in Italy. Last night I changed the DV because the old one was absolutely shot. Tried to swap to my twin light grille, all the mounting points and lugs off the slam panel are bent or missing so it's going to have to be zip tied I think. Now the working DV is fitted the car is smoother and faster driving it and accelerating (no matter how much), but as soon as you lift off and it recirculates the ECU shits itself and it stalls. Mapping required, badly.
