Clean the carpets up, wet vac them and then refit with buckets. I've taken everything out to remove the sound deadening, dry the floor, refit all the plastics so they don't rattle and things. And because it's free and takes up my time.

They aren't bolts. They're undrilled brake pipe fittings.

Proper good modification this one, there's loads of clearance for the cam belt. Once you've shredded it off the pulley.

She did own it once, yes. Probably why it was such an arse to sell and nobody wanted it.

Look what Prawn was following today...

I'd sort your sticking sliders out for you, no worries. CBA with any of that DIY lark though haha. Nope, talent failings aside these will be a thing of the past. I will however be grinding out the front hubs to give myself more camber at the front, in the aim to get a few more of these in.

Tonight I did a job I've been putting off for a while. I bought a 22mm Ibiza Cupra master cylinder for my Mk2, my old master cylinder was knackered and I wanted to run a 7'' servo for a firmer brake pedal but still wanted good brake force. And I was hugely conscious about the lack of clearance between the cam belt and the master cylinder... The Ibiza cylinders have 4 ports, so I needed to find some and way of blocking them off. I didn't want to just use bolts, and I didn't want to use bleed nipples and bearings, I wanted a more proper solution. Luckily my dad's a legend and came up with these from work - Basically underilled brake pipe fittings. Get in! First up, removed the old master cylinder reservoir. Then I had the mother f**ker of a challenge which was getting the new cylinder to fit. They have to be quite heavily modified to fit, which is a pain. Also they're a lot wider than a Mk2 master cylinder, and sit way past the cam belt and pulley when trying to fit them onto the servo studs. I ended up having to undo the engine mount, put an extension bar between the inlet manifold runners and force the engine to the nearside to get it past the cam pulley. Arse. Finally got it fitted! Spot the problem... The standard brake pipes are M8, and meet the master cylinder from the offside. The M8 ports on the Ibiza cylinder are on the nearside, the offside are M10... So I had to 'adapt' the brake pipes haha, I used a set of pliers and a socket to redo the bends on the original pipes so they met the master cylinder smoothly. I damaged the plastic coating a little bit manipulating them, but there aren't any cuts or nicks in them. Bled the brakes up, PERFECT. Pedal is rock solid, less travel and all good in the hood. Happy with that

Buy a Porsche. 964, put it in a garage, forget about it for 10 years. You'll double if not triple your money, and then you'll have a house. Investment is investment and cars are a solid way to buy something affordable and make reaonable money without the huge outlay and expense of a house. And if you ever need to sell it, you'll get your money back and some within a week.

^^^that's me.

Ahem. If you spent as much money on a house depost as you've spent on the race car and pasta n' sauce you'd have had 50k to put down too. I know I'm in the same boat for different reasons...

He let me have a go in it the other day, it feels like a Caterham to steer, but revs and drives kind of like a Type R. You'd never think it was almost 30 years old if you drove it, it rides better and handles better than a new M3.

Very much so. It's a Sport Evolution - http://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph-features-heroes/ph-heroes-bmw-e30-m3-sport-evolution/19345 Very rare, and very different to a normal M3.

Yesterday I was bragging that my Mazda 6 tourer was the best car in the work car park. (Yes I've got another new car from work) This morning my car park attendant upstaged me...

How the f**k is a thermal jacket hundreds of £'s, but a piece of cardboard can keep a McDonalds apple pie hotter than the surface of the sun for hours? Obviously I've just burnt the roof of my mouth on the thing. Still kept eating it though.

I thought so, always loved riding there. Something for everyone, three laps of the full run and that's your morning's riding done that will wipe you out for the rest of the day This run was always my fav' Horrible isn't it. I replaced them with XT's, much nicer cable routing. I never snagged the avids mind you.

Bikes = freedom for me. Day off, headphones in, crushing around the countryside going wherever you want on your bike, getting caked in mud and getting all the fresh air. I miss it. When I lived in Plymouth I used to go to Holden all the time, I want to go back there again. Last night I was looking at Niners (used to have a lovely one) and Giant Anthem X's, I don't think I want anything more than 120mm travel. Let's get hurting

I miss having a proper bike This was my last real bike - I really miss it a lot. I might try and buy another one next month.
