  1. Bank. - Hahahahaha, I failed a recorded mystery shop on Friday. Been out for a test drive, loves the car, happy with the figures...Just wants to go home and check with his wife before he signs an order form. Then I say... "Well, if your wife is the decision maker then what are you doing in my showroom test driving cars?" We all had a good laugh watching that one in the morning meeting today.
  2. Sounds like a bearing to me. - I've had to push back the cage a little bit, I made a phone call to ask about additional bracing and harness provision and the conversation was suggesting that due to work load it won't be built for about 6 week. Not the biggest issue. It will be worth it And I've just phoned Jabba to confirm mapping on Thursday 30th of April.
  3. When did we agree again? It can be my goal date for completing the car
  4. That looks so fun, I really want a go!
  5. There REALLY is, I know of loads of trails, clubs and groups of friends that are always out and about. But not having a bike myself at the moment I've not really been looking at it too keenly, been spending too much time on four wheels. When you get yourself up here we'll hit the trails
  6. I'm a huge fan of the Specialized Vice helmet. http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/vice-helmet-ec069881 You don't HAVE to get it in a lairy colour, but why not? From back in the day when I was top notch bike salesman I never found anything which offered the protection and the fit to such a wide range of customers as the Vice helmet. I used a Vice for a year or two, until I took a particularly large hit with it and upgraded to the carbon s-works MT helmet. Which even today is still far better than almost any XC helmet.
  7. So I bought a roll cage.
  8. Do I? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=110442667254
  9. The suspension is pretty shit. You don't even have to be driving like a bellend, you're still entirely juggling death even at what would be deemed a sensible speed.
  10. So. This morning I went out for a bit of a drive in the Mk2, traction was limited as always. Seemed to be going alright though. Arrived at the pub, had lunch with my dad then off to the workshop Up onto the ramp to have a poke around. I love V Band Old shifter out. Sat the shifter in to get the location. Dad holding the shifter in place so I could take a picture of the cable routing, trying to compare it with things on the internet. All done and carpets back in Took it for a quick spin, happy with that Then when I got home I cut a few inches out of the centre console, glued and screwed it together and refitted it all back in to keep it looking nice. Happy indeed, feels lovely.
  11. Out cruising around in the Golf to meet my dad for lunch prior to internally mounting the gear shifter. I really do like this thing, even if it is terrifying. Now that there is no weight in the back it moves about a fair bit, and I'm used to driving the S3 down back roads flat out knowing that it won't ever get out of shape. Driving a turbo Mk2 Golf is so different, nowhere near as fast but easily more dangerous. You have to scan the road ahead for any change in surface, undulation or potential hazard and decide if the car will make it through with any speed. It's funny. I probably should have started with something like this to learn how to drive properly. Good fun though.
  12. Going to dads workshop tomorrow to relocate the gear change inside the car. Whoop.
  13. Cage cage cage, rolley rolley cagey cage.
  14. Oh wow. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=916982121656154&set=vb.157849807569393&type=2&theater
  15. It wasn't meant to be offensive, I just don't want three point gaylord harnesses. To put it into context. Three point harnesses. Other type of harness.
  16. I can see why you don't want them. Thanks for the offer though.
  17. Yeah, they're pretty good. Been around a long time.
  18. Not Niki, Kevin at Jabbasport. One of two things are going to happen; adapter availability depending I'll either change the ECU for one of these - http://rrrshop.co.uk/ecumaster-emu-1-p.asp Or I'll keep the ME3.8 and it'll drive like all DBW 1.8t's do, on or off haha. On the 10th (Pay after delivery) I'll buy the seat frame for the Clubsports and a set of harnesses so I can get those fitted. I've got to fit new engine mounts, fit the rear camber shims, polybush the front arms and bleed the brakes again and fit a 7'' servo between now and the 30th. Lots to do
  19. Oh the subject of mothers. The Mk2's booked in for mapping.
  20. Absolutely! Got a temptation to buy a Mk1 MX5 just to have something to track-attack while I finish the Mk2. I'm hoping to have it track worthy by the end of July, so I'll book some bits up then Have you got anything planned for later in the year that I can put in my diary?
  21. It does all of those things, sometimes. I raised the suspension up a bit more, and tracked it better with bricks and string. Then added a bit more camber. Seems to go round corners well enough for now. It starts and stops, sometimes. Always starts from cold first time with no issues, sometimes it stalls when you come to a stop and eventually starts again. It's not left me stranded at the side of the road yet, so I assume that means it's reliable? - On the subject of handling, I found out today I've got polybushed rear top mounts and the rear beam bushes have already been replaced. The wandering I was feeling was actually a loose wheel bearing. I can't wait to get it all back together and on the road again, when I get paid in April things are going to be changing pretty quickly I've spent most of the afternoon looking at cages and internal gear linkages/towers.
  22. All ready for buckets, harnesses and a cage.
  23. Carpets shampood. Interior scrubbed. Dried and sprayed down with WD40. Drying out. I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way, but it seems to have achieved the result I wanted.
