Well, it doesn't matter a f**k to me because I'll be dead haha. But a human life is a powerful thing, IE one man can kill or bring life to millions of people if he so wishes. Humans are the most powerful force on the planet, even the elements required to live can be reproduced by man. Anything the world we know throws at us can be overcome with time, And if a leaf from a plant can be replanted and grown into a new life a human must be able to re grow into a new life. I'm a philosophical person, I follow science and my own beliefs. But I understand that science can be overcome with research and technology, IE humans can zap cancerous cells out of there eyes for our own benefit etc etc...

I personally don't think theres anything wrong with "faith", I do not believe there is nothing after life. I believe your reborn, but you'll never know it. There can't be "nothing" after life, but then again I do believe you won't rot for a million years in hell giving satan a manicure and lugging smoldering rocks to form devil shrines, Or that you go "up" to heaven and sit on sandy beaches drinking cider being fanned by girls in sombreros. Christianity has proven a destructive, controlling and unfair power through the ages. And going by the bibles teachings thats not what god intended at all, so he can't have that much influence any more ?

Jesus theres some crazy long posts in this thread... I tried bible bashing, but then I learnt that fact dispels faith.

No, we don't do elbow grease at work Glen phoned me up within 20 seconds saying "Oh hi there, I was in your shop the other day asking about blue annodized bars for my unicycle. I just wondered if they were in yet ?" Mongaloid.

Thanks Jon All sorted now, I didn't realize he was in Abingdon. Cheers to the 5/6 people who phone up asking for Unicycle handlebars and stabilizers for tricycles.

Hot Wheels aren't another bike shop. They import Mongoose and GT and all the "trendy" bikes, but they NEVER have any stock. Have a chat with some friends who work and KNOW about bike shops then just use that information to show your in the know about whats happening with bikes at the moment. You've added me on MSN now so I'll explain what I mean on there

Pretty much I just turned up and had a chat with the boss, told him all about me and who I was. Told him I was used to working in high end shops and I was well routined and understood what it takes to work in a bike shop. Slagging off Hot Wheels' appalling service and lack of stock always goes down well because it shows you have a clue I filled my CV with posh shit like "using analytical skills to up-sell product ranges" and stuff like that and bobs your uncle fanny's your aunt I had another job

Your right, thats how I found out. I got declined membership to Guildford College because of it and thats why I moved back down to go to Basingstoke college because they would have me. They simply googled my name and it was one of the first things that came up. I still use it as leverage when I want something now-a-days !

I've had 4 "bike shop" jobs, and you'll never "just be a mechanic". Naturally being a mechanic your working on live jobs, so you won't be a full time mechanic straight from the off because the risk is too high. The oldest and best workers normally get that title, so just do what I do and go round bike shops asking for work then once you've got a job you'll pick up what you want to do. Bike shops are a great place to work because there so friendly, and you can do lots of different roles. If I'm bored one day I'll clean down the bikes and shuffle about the clothes, or if I'm feeling cheery and fancy talking to people I'll go sell a few bikes. Make yourself smart, write up a CV and stuff and then go round with your bike (if it's good enough) and show them what you can do and what you can offer to the team.

I know, I was thinking more of the top tube and seat stays approach as per specialized transition road bikes etc....

This threads digressed into complete shit, if you think a fixed is a fast as a geared road bike over varied terrain or out on the open roads then you need shooting.

I still say block shifting is silly, if you want to drive a car properly you need to go through the gears. Also, it's not possible to block shift in a lot of older cars. I couldn't block shift in my Golf, I couldn't do it in my Discovery either. Going through the gears gives you complete control all the time because your constantly in an appropriate forwards gear, if your block shifting then your putting excess strain on the engine (IE low RPM's and using the brakes as apposed to engine braking). What would you do if you were "block changing" and were in 5th at 30mph and the car in front had a problem or you had to make an emergency maneuver, you have to think about what gear you need then change gear then make your move. If your already in the right gear it could make the difference between a crash and getting away to safety. And again, going down through the gears is much better from a performance aspect. Proper drivers always go through the box'.

Some bikes have the cables running through the frame. I'd drill them out a bit then run the hoses through there if thats what you wanted to do ?
