  1. I'm up for some new faces, I'll make any date as long as it's in the evening or a Wednesday/Sunday.
  2. Yeah ! It's amazing how polite and courteous people are when your in something like that, not to long ago I took my old Disco down to get some Diesel in it and Taxi's/Busses/everything was getting way out of my way !
  3. Win ! Modular Steels.... :$
  4. Well, I find that if your listening to a good tune by cranking it up loud you feel more of the music. Also, if its really loud it drowns out the other atmospherical noises and my bad singing.... I'd never spend money on a stereo, it's not my scene. However, if I had a pair of f**ked 6x9's in the parcel shelf I would replace them with some good quality ones.
  5. Agreed, however it is nice on a long trip to listen to a good bit of music ? Obviously I'd NEVER listen to music through my car speakers when I wasn't actually driving it anyway, that would be f**king stupid ! I haven't had a car with a stereo in it for a while, so having the Coupe with all it's electric gizmos is really nice. I enjoy slowly driving down the back roads listening to Pink Floyd as loud as my stereo can go without ruining the quality at night.
  6. Man, your dad sounds cool ! I guess an invitation laning with me and the boys would be pointless, seeing as it's your dads though ?
  7. I remember the last one, I was sick as assholes because I wrote off my car the day before......
  8. I'd be up for a Pompey mini meet, somewhere like Spice Island or Portsdown Hill ? And yeah Simon, I always take the long way
  9. Try out something newer and VAG, my 20VT Passat Sport had probably the best sound system I've ever had in a car ! No, it didn't shake windows when the bass like was in but for sound quality and true "listening" characteristics it was pretty much spot on. At an ICE off at one of my local cruises (No Rice) there must have been between 7 and 10 "modded" Mk2's, a couple of lupos and a couple of Mk1 golfs all with upgraded speakers. A guy in a standard set up Audi A3 won it (and got a free Burger King!), by playing Voodoo Chile (Jimi Hendrix) on full chat with the windows down.
  10. Oh f**k, JVM 80 on an Audi 80 would have been the tits ! Why didn't I think ahead.....
  11. Maybe read my post, then this thread. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3277830&page=1 Just seen your addition to your post, as I'm sure you can see this is a real build thread !
  12. Probably one of the best build threads ever. This is the guy - I don't think he's very old haha He makes everything himself, his welding is simply amazing... He made all his own fiberglass molds for the body... He made his own cage and spaceframe'd it... Custom mounts all round... His daily driver... I can't wait for that project to be finished
  13. You can go very wrong with something like that...
  14. Thats far more like it, you know me I like stuff like that ! When I see a car like that I think Classy, original and timeless. When I see a new Porsche I just see something which in 36 years time will mean nothing to me....
  15. I think an E30 M3 is a very special car, and I see far more Porsche 911's than M3's. I personally wouldn't think of any stereotype if I saw somebody turn up in a porsche other than they had a bit of money, you don't have to have to be anybody special to own one you just need money. There a pretty "boring" choice for the market there in though, I'd much rather have something a bit less blatant, slightly more exclusive and something people didn't mutter wanker under their breath every time they saw.... If I had the money to buy that sort of car I'd feel safe in saying I would not buy a Porsche newer than the 944.
  16. Thats the important bit....were both on the same "refined" wave length I personally don't associate people with cars anymore, too many times have I made assumptions of people because of the cars they drive. We had a guy come to buy a bike from us the other week, he bought just a basic scott £300 MTB and asked if I could give him a hand to put it in his car. Went out to his car and he had a little Rover 214 hatch back, with a cracked rear bumper and a big dent in the side of it. Bike didn't fit so I offered to drop it off on my way home, I turned up at his house and it was f**king huge! I went to his "garage" to show him how the quick release wheels worked and how best to store it and it turns out he was a multi millionaire ex BTCC driver. He had a new Aston, a couple of old Jags and a genuine E30 M3. Turns out he was driving the Rover because he'd just come off a 3 year drink driving ban and it was all his insurance company would cover him on.... It works both ways though, if you saw me pull up in my Audi you would never think I was 18, worked in a bike shop on less than minimum wage, lived with my mum and was registered disabled would you ?
  17. It's not all about how quick they are, it's the Q factor ! If you were there in your 911 Carrera S that you'd spent god knows how much on and some kid in a red topped corsa worth £1500 went flying past you wouldn't you have the hump a bit ? I've driven a GT3RS, and it was no where near as much fun as Andy P's F7P'd 340 ! Anyway, in answer to the question.... I've just youtube'd Redtop VS and it would appear they are probably as fast, yes... 18. Have to bring it to a down south pub run some time then I guess, with something like a Saxo it's so hard to be original everything will look "stereotypical." Your clearly not a stereotypical Saxo owner though, because you've got a Matt Black Monster too which = double win ! The thing that annoyed me about driving a "Modified" car and made me get rid was the attention it got from other people, I couldn't stop at a set of lights without some spotty gink in an astra trying to give it the beans off the lights. And when you've got a "modified" car you normally rise to the bait of boy racers trying it on. Also, I felt unsafe parking it out the back of work. A few people have been to my work and know its far from nice, so when I see all the kids hanging around in the car park and stuff it really used to annoy me. Thats why I like the older Saabs like 900 Turbos and stuff, you guys think there ugly and old mans cars. But at +/-225BHP out the factory, great suspension, brakes and aerodynamics there everything a true boy racer would want but without all the unnecessary attention But oh well, long live the only "modded" car I'll own for a while !
  19. Not long ago I would have blindly said "Yes" but now I don't think I would. I'm starting to prefer things a bit more classy and refined, I sold my Mk2 GTI because I got fed up with having to drive like a fanny everywhere because of how it looked or what it was. Yeah, it was quick as f**k through the back roads, and sounded mean and looked smart but thats not going to help when your sticking out of a hedge in a ditch. Now I'd rather sit back, listen to Radio 3 and cruise along minding my own business. Don't want an argument here, but I thought I'd quote this for irony. Because you've got the most stereotypical Saxo in the world.
  20. Didn't have the brains to google "Holden Maloo" then, Volver' ?
