  1. A successful morning's tripodding -
  2. I wouldn't have said they were budget/low to mid range at all Simon, the D2 Track coils I have got retail at £800. As Robin says the high speed damping is fixed with low speed adjustment. Hopefully it will be more than a road car, I plan on running it in Hill Climbs next year. Having a little bit of adjustability to run different spring rates, compression and ride height at different events will be a massive bonus. Don't be so grumpy Si, I am looking to learn a lot woth these coils. The reason I got these is because I CAN be bothered to change springs and really play with the setup. Not many people understand suspension setup and geometry. I want to be one of the ones who do
  3. Only the front springs are changable (sp?),the rear are available to order but at extra cost. 4 springs per car, two standard front springs, and two standard rear springs, two stiffer front springs and two softer front springs = 8 springs included total. 4 standard springs and 4 different springs for the front.
  4. You spaz Adam, one set of standard springs and 4 singular springs = 3 sets of springs
  5. Haha you are such a hero. Adjustable foot coverings. Ok, I'll re-phrase...I'll have a couple of set of springs with different rates. I just CBA to write out All South West Hill Climb, from the events I've been too it seems pretty good and most of the races are within an hour from Plymouth which helps a lot. My biggest concern is that I will only be able to race on Sundays because of work, most events are on both days with 3 runs per car though which will be alright I think.

    Bears

No. If it is a black bear, climb a tree, if it is a brown bear play dead. Bear survival 101.
  8. They come with three sets of springs according to the guy I bought them off, so yes they do have adjustable spring rates I haven't got a clue what weight the springs are mind you, but apparently there are 4 additional springs included. Thanks for the name Robin, I will give them a shout. DEFO keeping the car at least until September, I am looking to race in the ASWHC next year so this year will be my build up session. Prawn has pointed out to me that all the best cars are owned by people who have owned them for years. And besides, I like the Clio. I want to save up for a 911 when I am 25, a nice 996 is the goal. Now I've got a tidy base to start with and a modest disposable income I should be more tempted to stay in one car.
  9. D2 Track* coilovers, with adjustable spring rates, 36 damper settings and solid pillow ball top mounts with top camber plates and lower camber bolts. http://www.d2racing.com/content/products/track On their way over from Poland as we speak
  10. Robin, I want a full suspension and corner weight setup at Bridgewater Motorsport, is it still £50? Who do I have to see?
  11. Racing standard cars is what winners do, apart from a remap mine is totally out the box and with 110K. His is on 47K and has had the best part of £1200 spent on it haha! I'm organising a South West RR day at Alan Jefferys in Plymouth if anybody from the area would like to come? £25 per car, will be on either the 24th of June or the 8th of July.
  12. I setup a meet for Clio Sport out on the Moors today. Had 5 or 6 people turn up, was a giggle. I don't really know much about Clio's past my own, I've only ever driven one other 172 which doesn't count because I never opened it up so I don't really know what it went like. HOWEVER, today I had a good session with a stripped 182 which has been mapped, has matched inlets a decat and Simota carbon intake replacement. My car which has a full half leather interior in it, a full tank of fuel, me and is other than a remap totally standard properly walked it, the owner was really gutted and spent all day with his head hung and being all pissy about it. We did a lot of driving together today, and after a couple of pulls alongside each other on the A38 my car was a good car length ahead of his by the speed limit from a second gear rolling 20mph start. On the road my car had far more torque and the extra 800rpm really helped. Two or three people drove my car and they all said it was the fastest 172 with just a remap they'd seen and were really impressed. They were also very impressed at how quiet my engine is, having listened to every other car which turned up today they all sound f**ked in comparison to mine. So yeah, a nice result for me! - I am doing a little bit of testing for K-TR next week too, and SHOULD be recieving one of their new induction kits with silicone intake pipes to try out.
  13. Not at all Spunky. The one we took in was on 59K, was an 08 on a 57 plate, 150SRI in black and wasn't a bad car other than having had a dog in the back of it and being an Astra. SIV of the car was £4100 because we didn't want to take money off the top line of our car, but I still told the guy "I can give you £3400 for your car." We sold it on to a local dealer for £4100 I think. It's a 4 year old, pre-facelift diesel disAstra. Fair enough it's an SRI, but just REALLY. Everybody I know has had endless troubles with them, not to mention I hate the interiors. If you go by CAP then that car will be worth less than your remaining finance after about 18 months, negative equity is not cool. I did some quick calculations and I presume they are working on about 12%APR and you're putting in a grand or so? Look at this, from my local Vauxhall main dealer - http://www.evanshals...ar-vn57cuo.html MUCH higher spec, a more desirable two door, built 6 months earlier and on roughly the same miles. And that's £1200 cheaper from a main dealer. I have found better cars out there, but nothing EXACTLY the same. But please trust me, the car you are looking at is not a good deal and 5 years financing is also never a good thing.
  14. HOW MUCH?! I took the same car back in PX the other day for £3400. You must be mental. You could get a brand new car for £159 a month, or get a personal loan and but a car which is actually nice. 5 years?! Mental I tell thee.
  15. I was talking about Vtec and that Honda are mental to have persued it for so long. Any new car (post 2001) which is performance orientated and doesn't have a turbo is IMO mental. You will notice all hot hatches are small displacement turbo engine now. Before the 2001 tax break NA cars are fine because tax is capped at £230. But if you look at something like an S2000 or a new CTR the tax is mental expensive when put next to the performance.
  16. If you enjoy a good drive then swap back to NA, otherwise turbo ***. I cannot wait for tomorrow, organised a big meet out on the Moors for a load of guys off Clio Sport. Should be 10/15 cars, a bbq and football. Whoop.
  17. I do yes, but I enjoy the balance and chassis more. In the real world driving daily I miss it, but when I want to thrash is or knock it down a gear and nail it through a bend I don't. I've had a couple of embarrassing races where I've forgotten I've got a slow car haha.
  18. Eurgh, worst day ever. On the plus side, looking to get a set of D2 Coilovers. I've emailed the seller on ebay and they are going to sort them out for me at cost price because they've had them for years lol! Also, my RS2 inlet is in production. SHOULD have it fitted by end of August. Aiiiiet.
  19. ^Still better than Brown Bear though, who rides every day. Never did, never was, why am I even on here? I used to ride a lot of street on my Pashley, now I race XC.
  20. That will never happen IMO. And if it did they would have to kill me to part with my Pop, so it wouldn't bother me anyway haha! I think it will show a large rise in chassis swapping and ringing too, which probably isn't a bad thing.
  21. I think it is an excellent idea, however you will find a lot of classic cars having the registration numbers removed and sold unless they regulate that a bit better. It is the same policy they have in America, the cars still need to be roadworthy and comply to UK road laws.
  22. Dude, you have NO IDEA how difficult my day was trying to explain that to my director and manager who have no idea why something like that would be funny because they are both mature adults. I lol'd like f**k when I opened my emails, but then when I got called up to HR I was shitting myself.
