  1. lol, whatevs Spunky. Yours is a right parts shop Friday car, ripe for some 19mm wrist pin rumors. They've gotten every other bit of spec wrong, I insist you strip it immediatly. I feel an agree to disagree on two unprovable "factz" and a topic change. - Anybody seen the new Focus ST?
  2. Because it makes sense to me. There are literally 100's of posts saying that late BAM's had 19mm pins; the ETKA block and rod set for a BAM being 20mm pins means nothing to VAG as you know. That just means if you re-ordered factory you would get 20mm. Prawn says it isn't true so fair enough, but there is so much talk of it on various forums and build threads that as I say, how can you ever know. Also George, you forgot about the red band steering wheel and stone guards for the front brakes that 225's had
  3. I hate you both You have both got your information from exactly the same place as me. There are plenty of stories of parts bin cars just like Georges, and there are also plenty of stories of late BAM engines with 19mm pins. All I am arguing is that people say there are late BAM engines with 19mm pins. You guys are the bluring the argument and being dicks about other things that are irrelevant. So you can hardly shoot me for believing the numerous reputable sources of information that are out there, go google it yourselves and you will see how easy it is to get confused over it. I thought I knew a lot of the things I said and cross checked them mainly against this thread on SCN. I know it is a forum full of retards but I assumed they would at least know as much about their own cars as the guys on ASN do. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=115851&highlight=amk+bam+difference
  4. YOU Mr Prawn are wrong, I know every ounce of you will hate it; but you are. Not all LCR's had 20mm wrist pins, I think all AMK's came with 20mm pins and I've never heard otherwise but there is lots of talk on forums or people stripping down BAM's and them having 19mm pins; rumors started from APY's I believe when APY rods were used in BAM's. Also, Seamons go and compression test your engine. I bet it is lower than Prawns AGU and a BAM. The wheel bearings may well be the same dimensions but Seat keep two different part numbers for them (presumably because they changed suppliers) and people do give a flying f**k about the other things otherwise people like me who have no interest at all in Seats would know about it. I went to a car meet tonight with a load of mates, was pretty cool. This was my fav' car of the night. 490BHP bridgeported (according to my friend) rex. Looked like shit, goes like f**k. Was insane. My friend Chris's Fast Ford cover featured RST - "Datty" which belongs to my mate Scott - And a collection of other cars from the night - 3000GSI Carlton lump in this - I've worked out the BM is doing 27MPG being driven like a grandma; not cool. So to make up for this I kicked the f**k out of the clutch and went for some sideways fun. Now I have a scuff down my side skirt :/
  5. Seamons would never ban me, he loves me far too much. Not to say he wouldn't get another admin or mod to do it, but he wouldn't push the button himself.
  6. That isn't the only difference between the two at all George. Single CD not tape deck, different wheel bearings part no's, 19mm pins not 20 (on some engines), pegs instead of poppers for the mats and retractable cords for the rear parcel shelf. To name just a few.
  7. Highly unlikely, did you fax a couple of pages showing all of your mods to the insurance company? Prawn spent literally ages finding a proper fully comprehensive insurer for his Mini which had every single modification covered and declared. If that quote came from online then expect it to double. If you are the main driver of the vehicle then you are the majority of risk taken by the company, it will not be that cheap for a fully declared Vtec Mini to the spec of yours with agreed fully comprehensive cover. Every day people are talking and posting about paying £2000+ for their first years insurance on the smallest and cheapest of cars. Let alone a Vtec Mini. I know people who are 40+ who pay more than that for similar cars. IMO you have made a mistake somewhere.
  8. In short, very good. Imo one of the best roof bars available.
  9. It can be quite a problem with air forks, I know with Fox forks if the oil isn't thick and doesn't have enough stiction it doesn't offer sufficent protection for the damper seals and causes premature wear. TF are always refusing warranty on Leftys for that, and I once had Mojo refuse a warranty on a 9 month old FIT 36 RLC and Fox Fluid wasn't used when the customer wanted a tune. Unless you have done it before and know what you are doing I would reccomend boxing it up and sending it to the respective service center and getting it tuned whilst you are at it. In theory of cause, this might have nothing to do with forks lol
  10. Don't forget about the cSt of the oil though, that indicates it's viscosity under operating conditions. No point in having a 15w oil if it loses viscosity at temperature.
  11. It is rated in weight and centistrokes like every other oil. 20wt, 30wt, 40wt, 20st, 50st, 100st etc.
  12. Had to google that long word about sensationalsomething, lol.
  13. Saved me about 10%; but most insurance companies don't care about it and don't actually offer a discount for having one. Doing the IAM advanced test helps though, that knocked a further 10% off and most companies register that.
  14. See here - Long and short of it is, that vehicles safety devices are fundamentally unsafe. I would feel happier in my road car having a crash than I would with that cage, seat and harness combination. The seats are steel frames, cheap, nasty, bendy seats which in the event of any real impact will deform and probably break your spine. If the seats didn't kill you then when the floor twisted or moved the harnesses almost certainly would. The harnsesses look like 2.5" to me, and being 6 point even in the smallest bump those bastards would be ready to crush your plums into child prohibiting goo. The seats are Cobra ones, which are REALLY cheap and then retrimmed with the Recaro logo. Prawn should know, he has the next ones up from them in his Mini and I bought a set the same as his for my 306. I would like to know why he didn't mount the harnesses to the cage, probably already bought the bolt mount harnesses and CBA to change them lol
  15. This image literally made me cry.
  16. Is it just me who think he would be lucky to get 20k for that?
  17. Prawn pretty much gave the answer I couldn't be arsed to give because I was on my phone. Pics or it didn't happen George.
  18. I do, there are plenty of cases of people just throwing the land anchors on as insurance jobs etc.
  19. Not to mention that regardless of pretty much any circumstances if you hit somebody from behind it is your fault, which is bollocks.
  20. I took a picture of the BMW yesterday, nobody else on the internet seems to care so I may as well try here. (eh Prawn lol!) Does it need front fog lights?
  21. My favorite piece of music is actually a collection of albums I never listen to, that said I don't need to listen to them because every detail is in my head. My dad is a HUGE Pink Floyd fan and has been since day 1, he had a stoke when I was young and spent an entire 18 months paralyzed on one side to the point where his tissue was degrading and they thought he was going to be seriously disabled. The only enjoyment he had for 18 months was listening to Pink Floyd with me at night when I went to see him. I never realised how much it meant to him, but when he gained a full recovery he told me that he had learnt a new meaning to all the lyrics and that the music spoke to him. He says it was all that made him want to continue, and that the music told him he had to fight. All a bit gay, but I love the music and it means a lot to me. One day when he is gone, I'll probably have quite an attachment to this particular song -
  22. Gay as. Either way, nothing is going to change and we can't do anything about it Just get old and slowly pay less.
  23. Insurance companies are covered by the FSA, the OFT and the CCD. So they shouldn't be able to make extortionate profits from insurance. My own personal view of it is as I say, it's all just opinions. I would like to think that it is due to the safety elements in cars, st least that is what I use to sell GAP policies to customers all day haha
  24. It is proportionate IMO, I don't think insurance companies do it for fun. People underestimate how easy it is to write off a car these days, cars are made to be safe and the only way they can be safe is with sacraficial panels, pre weakened pressure points, airbags and SRS systems etc. A dashboard airbag is a grand to replace and repair if it goes off a modern car will have at least 4 airbags and up to 14. There are more accidents happening, and the risk of motoring has gone up as we are reaching the highest number of vehicles registered on the road in history. Personally I know 4 people who have written their cars off this month alone. I've had two write offs myself. You cannot look at personal circumstances and expect your insurance not to reflect the majority of motorists. It's shit I know, but it is just one of those things.
