  1. At least it isn't Haldex. Could have been worse, I could have actually bought this A3 that is totally f**ked upon closer inspection. Not to mention you buying something off me and then selling it to somebody I wouldn't feed my own shit to if they were starving. You'll just be upset when I have the fastest car again lol
  2. Just within budget; owned by a good friend of mine. No niggles, no problems, just needs MOT'ing and taxing because it's been off the road a year being restored and having the engine built.
  3. Meh, I want boost. And that's all that matters at the moment.
  4. I'm going to look at a 330BHP JDM imported V3 WRX STI tomorrow. Lots and lots of goodies, forged engine etc.
  5. Has anybody on here got a Scooby? I've got £1500 and the BMW to buy myself something quick; thinking a scooby is the most powerful thing I can get for £2000/2500.
  6. But dude, without sounding like an arse hole...Everybody knows that and that's what everybody has said?
  7. Dude, everybody is more than aware what a broker is. Especially Tic who basically works for DVLA haha And as we have said, not a problem if it is declared. Insurance compaines like Brenacre are the best for that, I rang them up to get a quote on my A3 and the guy had been following my build thread on ASN and knew all about the car lol
  8. Is that if it is declared or if it is undeclared that you have removed the rear seats?
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA REMEMBER WHEN PRAWN USED TO DELIVER PIZZA IN THE A3! LOLZ
  10. As a total aside, because I'm done arguing about/with/over Dan. Would you not say there are only two ways to get respect by the automotive community; you either have an AMAZING car or you know a lot. Everybody else is just in the middle and a but meh'. I'm in the middle. But there seem to be two defining stereotypes for "respected" members of the community.
  11. Have had a rad morning playing about in a Mk5. I hated them, assumed they would be soft and rubbish. Read internet opinions from forum hero's and all that lark; turns out they are epic. Lad at work bought one with some inheritance and has basically said to me "I can justify spending £1200 on it, I need to keep this for 2 years so make it so good I can't sell it" and told me to write a list of things to be done to it. We fitted coilovers last week, I plastidipped his wheels black and tinted his head lights with bits I had laying about. It's booked in for stage 1 mapping at R-Tech, and if it is quick enough for him the rest of the money is going on a set of Falken FK452's and a Miltek cat back. If not then we'll take it to stage 2. Gave it a PROPER clean today, spent a good 4 hours on it. Used Iron-X for the first time, that shit's amazing! Here's the afters; Instagraaaam - Had a play with the BM as well early this morning, I am pretty sure I can see blackening along the downpipe join which would be my exhaust blow - The manifold looks fine at the head, and all nuts are tight and free to take off too - Weirdly there is a blob of weld on the downpipe which is where the gasket has blown - So I can only presume the weld penetration has caused a spike which has deformed the gasket. So might have to remove that and knock it off. The downpipe to back box was new last year so it has all been off recently.
  12. I never outwardly say something about somebody though do I Sam? I never make a comment specifically at somebody to cause them offense. Because believe it or not I'm not an offensive person; I might be blunt but I never go out to cause offense. Dan just seems to constantly make a dig in every post that he makes to me, and IMO it's unjustified. To clear up your opinion that I make retarded decision; the BMW being old and shite is your opinion, and I'd be inclined to agree with you, the Clio being better than the BMW is in your opinion. But that doesn't really matter to me, what matters is if it gets me to work, how it gets me there (sideways or very fast; I don't mind) and if it will make me money. I sold the Clio because it was the right time for it to go, and I bought the BMW because I can easily double my money on it whenever I want. The entire thing owes me just over £650; I was offered £1200 for it at the SOS meet I went to the other week when I was putting feelers out and I was offered a swap for a SAAB 9-3 track car the other day, which I said no to because I want something I can make money on again and part of the terms of me purchasing cars from work is I need to sit on them for 3 months before selling. Remember three years ago when I bought this 1.8t Sport Passat which was immaculate and only had 80K on it for £750; whilst everything else on the market was £1000 more - And I swapped it for this and everybody thought I was a hero - Which I swapped for this, and everybody thought I was a retard - Which I swapped for this - Which was worth this - What you guys didn't see was the £4500 profit I made within the space of 3 months. I do not make retarded decisions at all, I see the bigger picture and enjoy owning cars. I've made thousands buying and selling my cars over the past 5 years. From selling the Clio and buying the BMW even after the wheels and coilovers I have banked £500, and now have a car that is worth as much as the Clio as well as that cash. The only retarded decision I think I have made is letting some of the cars that I have had go. I want them all.
  13. If that's the case then cool and I'll open up too, just seems a bit odd that a lad with a diesel focus that most people wouldn't use as a taxi who asks simple questions on a daily basis and seems to have vast gaps in his basic knowledge would have such an attitude in a thread about cars full of people who live and breathe them and are only trying to help each other out and share their experiences. I wouldn't go into a climbing thread and start telling you how to do your sport having only ever climbed one 30 foot wall once as a child. - Pete, am I right in thinking anything above 1V is considered irregular and that a duff sensor will read 0.9v all the time? That's what Hilliers says.
  14. What the f**k is your problem kid? I am fed up seeing a back handed comment, or some shitty reference from you in every post you make. I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed it, because it is literally every post you make. What are you trying to prove? I can guarentee you that if you crashed having not told them they would have a different opinion, it is changing a 4 seat car to a 2 seat. It might be a small thing but unless you tell them your insurance could and should be invalid. I think Robin will know for sure the in's and out of it but if you change anything on your car, you need to tell insurance. Simples.
  15. And could technically invalidate insurance, so probably not an amazing idea to tell him to just "remove the rear seats". Just fold them flat and remove the bars and front wheel. Removing the seats all together is not a great option.
  16. I'm taking the Abarth race car to SOS next month; see you there. x
  17. Don't join the ranks of the smart arse c**ts on here that pick holes in everything, you're better than that Robin and it doesn't suit you. With the MAF unplugged the car was better on fuel and rev'd freer at the top end. I can only presume the unplugged maf was countering the conflict of signals from the o2 sensor and leveling it all out with a solid if not spot on AFR. With the MAF plugged back in the symptoms return stronger; from logging the car it is reading the right g/ps based on load and RPM.
  18. Maf works fine. Manifold is tight and uncracked, it is the downpipe gasket or o2 sensor. The fluctuating o2 levels are upsetting the sensor and making it run rich and have in turn ruined the o2 sensor, hence the BMW going from being ok on fuel to being shite within a week. Drove it back today with the scanner on and the o2 sensor is constantly fluctuating from 0 to 0.9v even at idle; so either the downpipe is upsetting it or the o2 sensor is shagged.
  19. Yeah, it is running rich. Just wasn't sure if the slight blow would make it THAT bad, or wether it could be the CPS/O2/MAF/whatever other shit they have. No fault codes so I presume it is the exhaust leak and the 02 sensor doing it's job.
  20. I am getting SHOCKING MPG, like 20mpg driving so carefully. No fault codes, disconnected the maf and it didn't improve. Any suggestions? Could a ticking manifold send the 02 sensor out and make it run that rich?
  21. Bucky, have you ever done a manifold on a 318is? Mine is blowing and I am worried it is cracked, I have read that with the washer bottle and coil pack out it isn't too hard and comes from the top. Is that right?
  22. Chances are you will get 25/30mpg combined on an M50, it is difficult not to open them up because they sound so good. Looks a nice car though, I am all for going older. Give it a go. I have had loads of old cars and never had a mechanical failure, buy it right and look after it and there is no reason why it should be unreliable.
  23. The catch is poor fuel economy and that it is £500 too much. Looks good though.
  24. Do your tires scrub the inner arch Bucky? Mine are ruining my inner arch/chassis leg bit.
  25. That looks bang tidy. Love it!
