MX5's look great in isolation. When you see them in the flesh, they look gay as f**k. Part of me loves them and part of me hates the fact that you need to destroy the handling to make them look good; dunno. I've probably driven 40/50 standard MX5's in my job, and not one of them has ever driven badly. I know it's like the first image on google, but this one looks great! If they are lowered a little bit and proper go faster spec then they are awesome, slammed or standard they are just a bit shit. The one I went to look at earlier was rotten, release bearing was gone, sounded like a bag of spanners for the first 20 seconds after I started it, was no less than 7 shades of pink and needed new bumpers and a wing. No thanks.

Well that was a piece of shit lol.

Right, going to look at one this afternoon. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mazda-MX5-Eunos-1-6-A-C-PAS-T-T-/130753294116?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e7180ef24#ht_1138wt_984 Never going to pay a grand for it, but it's less than a mile away.

Having spent all last week playing in high power MX5's, watching your video's, reading your post, looking at them on driftworks and driving them on a daily basis for the last year. I really want a Mk1. So smooth in the middle of that video Adam, properly good. What spec is the car? I know you hold your cards close; which is why I never asked you about the thing I knew you had.

Tarty! Good work man, I am impressed.

You need to buy a B3 platform Audi 90.
-
1.8t for the massive win. I googled it, Passat engine drops straight in on factory mounts. So that blows Rich's theory out the water
-
I never said anything about 20V; just listed what engines come in 80's and 90's because lets face it he'll buy the cheapest straight one he can and try and put a V8 in it. I know that the 2.3's are 10V and I'm 99.9% sure that Allen does too. Pretty sure that Allen knows the difference between a B3 80 and a 90 too. I prefer the 90's, especially with a before front end. It's just the VAG B platform; so B5 A4's and B3/4 Passats should share the majority of components. I haven't had one for a while but I was pretty certain when I had mine that there was a fair few things you could do and "in house" upgrades were quite easy. Anyway, LOL at your hatred for anything VAG and 8V; you suck Rich. 8V ***. I'd have a 2L 8V or the 2.6V6 over a 5 pot NA as a daily driver. You've just driven shit ones, my old 2.6 V6 twin turbo estate was f**king awesome for 4000 miles. And my awesome Coupe which was the best sub 500 quid car known to man and I wish I never sold! Such an awesome dash-board. I wonder if you could 1.8t an 80 coupe...
-
S2 Avant is on my list of cars to own. Such a handsome car, proper manly and square jawed.
-
Yep you can get that car. The best 80's are the 2L 8V or the 2.6 V6's. The non turbo 5 pots are a bit shite. You could get 1.6 and 1.9TD, 1.4 8V, 1.6 8V, 1.8 8V, 2L 8V, 2L 16V, 2.2 turbo and non turbo and 2.3 non turbo, 2.6 and 2.8V6. They are Mk3 under the shell, super easy to mod. Lots of fans on E38. Basically any engine from the Corrado/Passat/Mk2/Mk3 Golf was available in the B3/before 80 of which you speak. A nice car to have would be an 80 Quattro Competition. 2L 16V 140bhp goodness. I've had a turbo's 2.6 sport estate and my old Coupe; both of which have been f**king epic.

oh my god bro. Just seen this on another forum. All this work in 4 months... I want an awesome E36 project now

Prawns Mk1 Escort.
-
Cool BMW shit happened this weekend at Prawns. Found out 100% it has a small case diff fitted; Andy P goaded me into lighting up the tires on Prawns dads driveway and it left a mini 11. So we went for a quick spin to show Prawn. Clutch is on it's way out and started slipping but when it cooled it was fine again, so I was a bit narked about tht. Asked Prawn to drive it back because I was a bit pissed off with it. So Prawn took me up to the church which has an almighty great grass car park for some hooligan antics. Big spin, bit of sliding about and some clutch abuse. It was fun. Thinking about keeping the BM as a bit of an ongoing project again now; after having a few conversations this weekend about people spending money to save money and general retarded car buying stories I have realised that maybe I should do stuff to this instead of spending more on something I am going to do more work on. Lots of low boost/6pot/other things talk. Who knows, but I quite like it again. Thinking of starting by putting a decent size set of tires on it and properly decking it. Also on Saturday I went to a local festival of speed, I took Jota Sports own MX5 GT Prototype race car there. Omex 710, lairy cams, throttle bodies, 2.5" exhaust. It is 200bhp, but has £6000 worth of suspension mods; was a great thing to drive! I hope that Mazda make it production. Also gave Robins Passat a half arsed clean, I will post some pictures later. - Every year Prawns mum throws a three day drink-a-thon in the back garden with a proper marquee, tents, awesome food, a fridge and the best group of friends ever to celebrate my girlfriend, Prawn and Bigman's birthday (which all fall without a couple of weeks of each other). That was this weekend; I would say between us we probably consumed 150 pints, 4/5 bottles of wine, a couple of bottles of gin and over 100 cigarettes without much problem. Certainly enough booze and nicotine to kill a heard of cows. The Mangane. For anybody wanting to put a face to Prawn; he looks incredeibly northern for a southern fairy in this photo - We spent a lot of the weekend being utterly flawed by Robins knowledge of just about everything; the kid's amazing. The thought process that goes on in his head is just 10x anything I have ever known. He REALLY knows his shit and has the ability to justify and back it up with well explained logical facts. His Mini looks incredible as does the work he is doing for his portfolio, proper talent. Which is weird because last year he was just a nerdy vegetarian that we all loved dearly; now he's a motorsport super god. One for Adam - And a couple of shots of the MX-5; also for Adam - [imghttps://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/533142_10151353444005130_29582502_n.jpg Mazda have approved production and marketing of that car, for 30K inclusive of two sets of wheels for road and track as well as a choice of brake pads. Not bad when you think it's only 6K more than a Sport-Tech Mx5 anyway. I also had a spin in an ITR on Saturday, which is owned by the guy who used to own my A3. Not sure how to take it; didn't seem fast or all that great. But it needed a fair bit of work by the sounds of it. Looked good though Also I necked the BMW earlier; with an 8th of a tank of fuel left it took 87 quid's worth of V-Power!
-
Not far behind the Mini! Probably went round corners better too.
-
Surely it just means everything needs a type approval? Seems like a pretty unenforcable law to me. Just like cars needing cat's, there's always a way round.
-
Nahh, owned by a mate. Just felt slow and lifeless. To make it fun you had to drive it so stupidly fast you'd never enjoy it.
-
Adam "pie fingerer" Read.
-
Doooooo it. Go on, hybrid time. Set of rods, fmic, hybrid, injectors and an actuator. 320bhp'z!!!
-
Reeet thats even better then, so G60 golf brake upgrades, Mk3 VR6 hubs for wide track, all the shit I know from Mk2's? I briefly looked at them when I bought the A3 because at the time I had enough money to buy a half decent K03s one but then the A3 just had to be bought. Not so sure about the Yellow but we'll see. Scooby tonight and Ibiza on Wednesday. Polar much! I am also thinking I might wait until October, because if I have a good September then I can double my budget. How's the LCR?
-
Yup! The one I am going to look at on Wednesday is cheap cheap cheap, intermitant starting problem, owned by a guy who hasn't got a clue. It was advertised in car and classic as a project ffs. It's Omni Yellow and the roof has peeled; I'd just flat it back and plastidip it black. Pretty sure you can fit LCR lower arms and all the usual tricks to them. They're the same as the Leon just a foot shorter and a tiny engine bay?
-
If it makes you happy George I've also got an Ibiza Cupra to go and look at lol
-
Sounds spot on Robin, I love willy waving lol
-
I too wanna see me rollin' in another mucus green saab soon. Honestly, given the choice I'd have one over a Scooby, BM, whatever. Love them. And yeah I could have a 328, or for the money I could put an M3 engine in my E36. But I CBA and I want 330bhp.
