Strange, looks like it's got the twin cam badges behind the vents and I thought I could see 4 wheel disc brakes in the pictures. Has your dad put discs on the back? Looks like he's done quite a lot to it from the pictures, hence the confusion over it being a twin cam. Meh, my bad. Your dad might like what my old man is building, he's been working on an MG Magnette for the last 4 years that he's totally restoring and doing all the bodywork himself. Underneath it has got full ex works MGA suspension with a shortened Ford atlas LSD axle, and the engine is a supercharged B series with a lairy cam, bored out to 1.9 and a load of head work done. From the outside it just looks like a standard MG Magnette that's been lowered and had a set of steels put on it. I can't wait for him to get it back together and running again. Either way, I like the MGA a lot. - I'm fed up arguing with you over this George lol, it's all personal preference and I don't agree with you or Prawn. In the time it's taken me to reply the postman has delivered the new boost gauge I ordered, so I went out and fitted it and went for a spin. I put my foot down and it's all lairy and the wheels spin up immediately and I think "wow this things so fasssssst!" but I can never actually do any damage because I can't go quick enough due to awesome wheel spin and how much of a girl pants I am. If I had a K04 and loads of power up top I'd have exactly the same feeling, but I'd be going much much faster and putting myself in much more danger. How can you not agree that for me, a K03s is perfect. The postman also had my Milltek pipe Where can I get the mega awesome clamps that Milltek send out? They've got no branding on them, but they weigh a ton and look fricking awesome. New boost gauge is so much better than the last one I purchased...

Trials Forum does make me laugh, they stopped making the MG A in 1962! That's a twin cam anyway, so it has to be 1958-1960 And George, you know that's blates 280bhp! Good old AMD. Which would make your Leon the same power to weight as my old A3, I can't see how it can be so much better. Fair enough I can't argue with the area under the graph further up the rev range; but it's not the night and day comparison people are making it out to be.

LOL Seamons, that's because K03's are shit. If you had of had my A3 you wouldn't have thought the jump to K04 quite so amazing. What power is your Leon at the moment?

No better turbos Everybody is going k04/bt now and it makes me sad.

They drive pretty similar by all accounts Robin, have a quick google and you won't find any K03s plots that don't make a significant dive after 5K. I don't see the benefit to having a build up of less power to a short peak at 5500rpm, why not have all the power and torque where you would normally drive and then not bad figures top end. One of the reasons that drop looks so dramatic is because Niki took it to 7300RPM, where as most 1.8t dyno plots stop at 6K because by then they've made peak figures and had a short tun down in power to prove and smooth the graph. Duty cycle on that turbo is 84% mid range and 90% for peak power, without the WMI Niki says it drops 60lbft and 20bhp. A graph for a 230bhp K03s looks pretty similar -

Nahh not really, pretty much all 1.8t graphs are like that. It's a characteristic of the engine and tiny turbo. You tend to drive them like a diesel, changing gear at 5k in pretty much all 1.8t's that are on their stock turbo.

Wahoo! Friend of ours just came back from R Tech getting his map improved with the latest generation of map for his car. 256.5BHP out of a K03s; unholy and also unheard of.

Honestly I don't think any bike shop employees should be able to touch a customers bike until they have a Cytech level 1 as a minimum qualification. Too many people see bike shops as a quick fix and an easy job, not many people see it as a profession. Those sorts of uncaring and uneducated muppets have no place working on any mode of transport and should be weeded out of the industry to regain the trust and respect people used to expect from their local bike shop.

Great post Andeeeeeeeeeeee, however: I've been running the £30 eBay special ones for years, as has Prawn, as has Seamons, as has my girlfriend and as have probably 40 of our friends. Never had a single problem with any of them, personally I haven't, I know Prawn hasn't and I've never head any issues from our friends with them. I'm not categorically saying that the eBay kits are perfect and you're talking out your arse; but you are only telling half of the story. Personally if I was going out to buy another set (not that I need to because my £30 ebay kit is still perfect after 4 years) then I would just buy the cheapest "slimline" kit I could. Worth noting (although tempting fate) that none of us have ever been pulled over for them either; so money doesn't necessarily buy quality or safety in this case. If you do a bit of research you will see that pretty much all of these kits are the exact same product, just with different names and levels of pricing. All of these kits are the same, regardless of price. There are two kits available, a slim and standard kit. Regardless how much money you spend they're all made in the same place just with different boxes and names on them. If the OP wants to buy one, I suggest he doesn't waste his money on a £100 kit, just buy the cheapest one you can.
