No more chrome grill - So nearly what I want it to be on the outside!
-
Soooo, went on the works night out last night. f**k me did I get munted. You know you've had a good night when at 7:24 you haven't been home yet and are sobering up in Goodbodies having a breakfast and tea. The company put in £600, and the woman they gave the money too is the biggest piss head I have ever met. She went home around 2 on a booty call so I was designated money master and immediatly put in a £200 bar order and booked us the VIP lounge in Oceana so we could pull munters all night. Actually cannot wait to get to work on Saturday, so many stories flying around.

Do you really love the lamp or are you just saying it because you saw it?
-
I'm totally free for Friday, and you're all welcome at mine
-
Welllll bad news about Thursday is that I have to work. But I am free all day Friday. If you want to take the DV amd then pay when you are sorted that's cool. Clocks look f**king radical.

If you want a 007p instead of OEM I have got one you can have for £50 Robin, has a green yellow and blue spring as well as shims. Leaks a little with the green spring but is fine with the yellow spring+. If you want it I can deliver it to you on Friday and pimp the Scirocco at the same time.

I haver personally only owned one alfa, a 155. It was a sack of turd and I sold it within two days, I was given it for free and knew it was broken so I cannot really count that. However my mum has had Alfas for the last 10 years, she had a 156 first, then a 156JTD Turismo and then two 159JTDM Turismo's. Her current 159JTDM Turismo is being handed down to me next year when she gets her next company car allowance. The first 156 kept having wiring faults, the indicators would flash with the horn and the hazard lights would make the headlights and interior light flash. The second 156 had a terrible gearbox whine after 11,000 miles and had a new one under warranty. The next year the rear calipers seized on at 75mph on the motorway. The first 159 however was epic and she still owns it today (it is the one I will be getting) it has faultlessly done 140,000 miles however last month she lost 4th gear and it is going to a specialist in Oxford for a clutch and gearbox in January. The only other issues is at 4 years old she had never ever had one person sit in the back of the car once (Prawn when she gave us a lift back from the beer festival) and the stitching on the seats rotted and the box pleating went flat. The last 159 she had was a good car, but she used a halves and thirds term to end the finance early and return the car because Alfa service refused to replace the transmission fluid under warranty after two years and 53,000 miles because they said it was a servicable item and she would need to be charged. Even though the gear lever felt like stiring a bowl of water. Don't forget I actually work at a Fiat/Alfa dealer, so I get the annoyed customer phone calls when their 62 plate cars are driving themselves haha. Cracking cars to drive when they work; but I wouldn't want to own one long term. I love driving my mums 159, it is brilliant as a car. Which is why she has kept paying to fix it, in her mind it is worth it.

And bound to break at least twice a month.

Power to weight is epic. I class anything which is 200/ton+ as a quick car. Scoob looks really good, a friend of mine owns this and I've driven it a couple of times - It's got the Prodrive performance pack, Walbro pump, 3" downpipe and decat, mongoose cat back, Exeddy clutch, HKS induction kit and super BOV as well as some other bits. It's about 330bhp on a local Subaru specialists RR. Boring. As. f**k. But only because it is ruthlessly efficient, the way it dispatches B roads is unholy. It just seems too good, perfect family wagon with proper power.

Exactly. The 1.8t engine in one form or another was fitted to almost every VAG car from 1995 up to around 2008 even. My A3, Rainbirds Leon and some any 1.8t Mk4 Golf GTI all share the same engine; essentially.
-
How many miles do you do a year Danny? I know so many people who are out of touch with running costs, unless you do 10+k a year chances are that a petrol will be economical enough. My 1.8t averages 33.7mpg, and that's stop start traffic on the way to work with it not getting up to temp for more than 2 miles. On longer runs I have seen as much as 55MPG over 120 mile average at 64mph average speed. However usually I see mid to high 40's on a long run. If you like the Mk4 platform I would strongly suggest looking at a 1.8t, unless you do high mileage of above 10K a year.

Should be able to get a really nice Golf or even a Leon for that money. Wouldn't fancy an A3? What sites are you looking on?

The owner of SCN is the most hateful. thoroughbred fanny you will ever meet. It's a long story which goes back over years, I was recently banned for celebrating Niki from R Tech. He regularly closes topics about companies, gives bad reviews of them, slanders individuals and all for his own personal gain. Try and put "R Tech" into a post, or "Niki Gower" and you'll see it is starred out. If you bypass the swear filter by saying N-I-k-I-R-T-E-C-H you will get a very abusive message from Mark and a suspension from the forum. He's a horrible piece of work.

Please don't join SCN Luke, Secret Seat Society will be all you need.

Yeah, what a truly smart car it is. I'm over the moon for you mate, it's such perfect base to start from it seems a shame to do anything to it! It honestly looked great when we were rolling along, looked much more up to date than my A3 My mate Joe came round with his Golf, and Rainbird with the Leon and we gave the two a good pimp up. Luke's missus came along for the shoot - I cleaned Lou's 500 this morning too, so might as well have a cheeky picture of that - And a couple more of Lukes Leon - There's been a bit of ongoing rivalry between Joe (Mk5 GTI) and I about who's car is quicker. His was recently mapped by Niki at 252bhp, and he's been saying his is quicker than mine for ages. And to be honest I was a bit worried, his is fast as f**k. We had a good old play on the way up to the Moors and on the way back. Mines much faster, he's already ordered an S3 intercooler since we left the Moors and an R Tech CAI induction kit haha.

IF you can pull a sickie then yes, 100% come round and we'll drink many cups of tea. The weather is going to be great tomorrow too, cold but clear all day.
-
It's so so so so so so so so so so so so so nice. I'm free tomorrow now; if you cannot wait and want to spend a couple of hours pimping it.

Word. But I enjoy it, and if more people did stuff with their cars these days it would get lost in more awesome posts

I win, unlucky Prawn. VCDS logged 192.2 and Torque logged 191.2g/s. Which makes +/- 240bhp. Very very happy with that, not that I know the car is 100% I am going to book my mapping session with Niki for stage 2. With meth if I can get 250bhp I will be over the moon, 250bhp K03s has been my goal for a couple of years now and I think I am nearly there. win, unlucky Prawn. Because I enjoy it I like having a nice car and I like something which is quite fast. But I don't think it is safe to drive fast on the roads, when this car is up to the spec I want I will track it and use it for long GT style trips if funds allow. But I don't have any desire to take my car out and drive it fast for fun; I have driven cars unbelievably quick on the road and still live to tell the tale luckily, but one small thing which is out of your control could ruin it all. Who am I kidding, I love hooning the tits out of my car. But my limits of what I class as responsible are getting lower and lower as I get older. A quick boot full for a few seconds on an A road is more than enough for me to start worrying these days haha What could happen far outweighs the feeling of having a good hoon now so I just don't do it.
-
Nope. There is little to no enjoyment to be had driving cars on the road, it just gets me to work and back. I enjoy cleaning it and making it better.
-
I did have 191.2, but no pics so it didn't happen.
-
I'll get more than 190

I love doing data logs. Did a data log today and got my highest peak airflow ever, 186g/s. Which translates to 232bhp. If it made 232bhp on a set of rollers (which is probably,g/s logs are proven to be accurate) it could potentially be one the most powerful stage 1 1.8t's out there. It's certainly as quick as my old one was with stage 2. I'm happy That's with a maximum air intake temp of 36*, I can only imagine what it would be like with WMI bringing that down as well as the octane boost. Whoop whoop for cold weather.
