  1. But you don't care about twisty stuff, you drive motorway miles? If it's motorway miles you want then my car > your car in every single possible way. As would a Megane. That video shows utterly uncontrolled and irresponsible willy wanging, not my cup of tea. I'm not sure if you understand why you have purchased this car; you seem confused. To confirm I'm not reading this all wrong; it is him that KEEPS making reference to my car in relation to his car? And it was him who first made reference?
  2. According to the Met Office it rains on average 53% of days each years, that's a whole lot of disappointment.
  3. Pretty much. Take your "this happens every time" argument and direct it at this - He piped up; basically said his car is better than mine and then listed the reason why he chose that car - But actually; his car is no better than mine within those terms. Post hoc ergo propter hoc in its simplest form.
  4. I care; and I am not having some jumped up chav in a Focus RS dick me. In the same way I wouldn't have him dick me in the traffic light grand prix.
  5. As Robin says. If you don't care about corners and you just want as much torque as possible and a good "base to tune with" then really your car isn't any better than mine at all I could lose 15kg's and be just as quick, in fact probably quicker to 100. Whilst my car would be no match for an RS in the corners we don't need to worry about that because 99% of the time it is dangerous as you say. I enjoy a subtle and unpretentious car that I can unassumingly roll around town in, I quite often drive long distance so require comfort. But I still get up the nose of people like yourself on the road; when they presume a Focus RS is an all destroying road machine. Which is why I enjoy the Megane; if I were to buy in the same way you have it would offer me exactly what I want. The Megane could easily be mistaken for a top spec diesel or the like. It was never about my car vs your car, but thanks for bringing it up, you all know how much I love it and it plays perfectly into my hands. It was more about why you would choose the RS over other options. Which you have kind of answered I guess. I can't help but laugh at your initial testing of the the three cars and then ending up with the RS after all you said. Hope you enjoy your new car, keep us updated. Oh and also I call custard; so a picture of your RS in a layby with a pot of ambrosia should see us right
  6. I don't even know where to start, literally just haven't got a clue. I know he isn't wrong as such because his opinion is his own; but I just don't understand how an opinion can differ so much from what I see as reasonable.
  7. Wow, literally lost for words.
  8. Of cause I have driven one; I've driven loads of them. If it is the drive we are talking about then I would have purchased the Megane EVERY time. If it is the image and the "package" then again I would have bought the Megane. Fastest production FWD time round the ring; or a generation of Halfords carpark cars. I know which appeals to me more.
  9. Have you ever driven one Prawn?
  10. You say road presence; personally speaking when I see a Focus RS I think of tiiiiiiiny penis. Probably due to the sort of people that own them around here, I work at a Ford main dealer and have recently seen a huge influx of middle aged chavs changing in their "fast as f**k" Focus RS's for the new ST. So far I've not met one of them that isn't a total tool who thinks they're gods gift to the world. Which has put me off a bit. If you wanted an all out performance machine you could have done a whole lot better for a lot less money, you could have got a better engine and a better chassis. But that's not the point of an RS really is it? The only thing a Focus RS has which other cars don't is a lairy bodykit and a modified image and a big heavy driving feel. So was it the fact that an RS is a brute to drive and feels like a big bruiser, or the flared arches and wide boy body kit that pulled you in? What was your attraction to the RS in the end?
  11. Those wheels are so much less shit than the ATS's. Good work.
  12. I've always preferred mine clean shaven.
  13. I am sure Alex would post them to you for a nominal fee I don't know why you don't just put T1r's or A symetric 2's on.
  14. A friend of mine asked me to sort out an induction kit for him, so I did my research online and phoned my tuner for his opinion. I got all my information first hand from him. Half an hour later I rang my friend to tell him not to buy one and he'd already done it. We fitted it and the EML came on and it started drinking fuel, initially we thought I had done something wrong. But after checking it over there were no leaks and everything was as it should be. Re-fitted the original airbox and it all went back to normal. The next week it went to R-Tech for its mapping and made 253bhp as a totally standard car with a custom map. R-Tech have just (yesterday) got 299.8BHP from a K03 TFSI using their traditional "filter in a heat shield" CAI. Which is a lot more than anybody else ever have with any other setup. I certainly wish you the best of luck with it, I think you've got a Golf R haven't you? Should make good figures with a K04, as long as your tuner knows what they are doing. Who's mapping it for you?
  15. Literally the worst yet one of the most expensive induction kits for a TFSI. Reason being that the filters inside are tiny, and fill up with water and rot them from the inside out. You'll be changing them every 6 months if you want to keep filtration up. The twin intake setup tricks the MAF into thinking that the air is travelling faster than it actually is and causes misfires and EML lights on unmapped cars. When going for a generic "stage" map there is little or no way to account for this. As such you will need a true custom map from somebody who knows what they are doing to see the claimed benefits of this. Niki at R Tech used a Twintake on back to back tests against his own CAI which it just piping, a heat shield and a PiperX filter on the end. On an unmapped car his traditional filter setup/CAI had 2bhp more and 1lbft more torque over the twin take and a smoother graph, custom mapped on the same car he saw EML's and misfires when swapping from the standard filter back to the twintake and he then adjusted the map for the twintake to allow more fueling and whilst he did see a slight raise in peak power the torque curve dipped at high revs because the twin intake cannot supply the constant flow required for high end turbo torque. Another issue is that they wear through against the head, I will find a picture of that for you so you can address it. It is interesting reading online reviews about these, the placebo effect of a £300 carbon twin box intake is strong, but when I hear tuners telling people to ditch them I start to think twice. These regularly pop up on ebay or forums, which for me is quite telling.
  16. It hasn't worked for me for a couple of weeks, I posted in the software updated thread and got no reply.
  17. As Robin says. You need to isolate whether it IS a fueling or a sparking issue. It isn't electronic ignition is it? An over heating condenser can cause the issues you are getting, or worn points sticking.
  18. Have you isolated the symptoms and causes yet?
  19. I love that BM, looks rad! Prawns pretty much explained it, although worth noting that Prawns car was a daily driven road car with that exhaust on it for a LOT longer than it has been a track car. Weird how people forget that A3 was the daily driver. I've just found a great picture of a standard Miltek and my current exhaust on Prawns old car. What makes it heroic is the Miltek is on my old A3. - In a slight change of subject, sleepers. Everybody loves sleepers. My mechanically trained attack badger Phil is about ready to get his A3 mapped. Intercooler pipes are going black, and it will be getting a grille put in it. You'd never think it's a 300bhp capable setup under the bonnet.
  20. I don't care, not about internet peoples opinions of my car. As I said, I think it looks great. I just find the inconsistancy confusing, that annoys me more than somebody not liking what I have done. - Imagine you posted a picture of your beautiful size 8 girlfriend in a dress, person A doesn't comment. I then post a picture of my beautiful size 8 girlfriend in the same dress, person A comments saying the dress isn't a nice cut and then 5 or 6 other people agree. Why didn't person A start the chain of negativity at your original posting of the dress?
