  1. Fingers crossed the A3 will be fixed today. #optimistic.
  2. A good friend of mine in work has just bought an MX5 track car, has said I can used it for airfield days and shit whenever I want. I'll get some pics up on Monday
  3. I find it impossible to type on my S3 too; my S2 was undeniably a more usable phone. I wish I still had my S2
  4. Why make a post about 3DSM's and then post a picture of OE Merc wheels? *edit. Am I going blind? He clearly wrote about putting the DSM's on the Alfa, but I didn't see it because I'm a fag.
  5. They're Mercedes Alphards...
  6. I think I should have been left with my own thread
  7. Are we doing this car profile doodjamaflip then?
  8. Profile thing is a rad idea, like a recap for the new members. 3 pictures, one exterior one engine and one interior. Short sentence on what we love about the car. Short sentence about the spec. Short sentence about the future plans.
  9. Well f**k the lot of you to put it bluntly. Maybe if you pulled your fingers out of your arse and actually did something with your cars maybe you could post stuff in here instead of just seeing me post and then moaning about it. I have done more to my car in the last two months than I have seen from you lot for years; so instead of getting on my back about my weekly updates why don't you guys do the same so we can all share a common interest. I'm not bragging, I'm not saying I am better than you. I am saying this is a car thread for talking about cars, not bitching at me for talking about cars. This thread used to be awesome, the likes of Sam, Fred, Steve, Alex, Prawn, Simon, Bucky, Andy, hell even Seamons posting proper meaty updates on an almost daily basis. I used to be amazed at the quality of cars in this thread, better than most proper car forums! That seems to have fizzled out now, the only people left are Prawn posting properly meaty updates, Robin posting cool stuff and Seamons moaning. There are people on this forum who haven't a f**king clue about motors who only come in this thread to take the piss out of me, if those types could kindly foxtrot oscar and leave us proper petrol heads to chat about cars it would be awesome. We're all guilty of it, myself included. But lets all quit being c**ts and post some car stuff.... #sledgehammertocrackanut. X - Hot hatch test on Top Gear, what would you pick?
  10. It is free. It hasn't cost me and won't cost me a penny. I should set up my own drive through car wash, but I think I would end up being pissed off at not being able to work to the standards I want to.
  11. So the head is warped and the head gasket has blown on the A3, but in such a way that at idle it doesn't over heat or over pressurize. But as soon as you start driving the pressure goes through the roof and the water in the head boils and the block/radiators/temp sensor stay at perfect running temp. It's all a bit weird. This much mayo from 10 mins of idling at running temps - Last night I picked up potentially the best freebie known to man. A complete, brand spanking new head. Which was fully rebuilt using genuine parts, skimmed and pressure tested. All the guy wants in return is my old head which is f**ked anyway to swap over the timing gear to his new AGU head. And for me to clean his car for him... This head was on an AUM Golf which had a water pump failure like mine and needed a new head. Then a week after the head was fitted it was rear ended and written off. So fingers crossed, Audi will be fixed soon and better than ever
  12. It's more the other way round...^
  13. Honda S2000 cone filter, available from any auto factors for £14, 84mmOD and 80mmID, they're huge and are good enough for 600bhp turbo S2000's and offer better filtration than an oiled foam filter.
  14. Nothing to do with the mapping Ron is dead thanks to something shit, and mine is dead due to a faulty water pump
  15. Nope, Ron is the same spec as Prawns car engine wise (just without rods) but with a standard K04 not a hybrid. But Ron is otherwise totally standard, 288mm brakes, standard wheels and suspension, Phil has literally thrown everything at the engine haba.
  16. So after having a big joke the other day about breaking Simons car, Jesus has caught up with me... The water pump has sheered and come off it's drive shaft, the engine has got super hot but the gauge never moved. I got home yesterday and this is the post I put on ASN - This morning I took the car to Phils, the idea was that we were going to change my bushes and the car would be awesome again. But with my over-heating issue it wasn't going to happen. Drove to Phils with the heater on full, and after a mile it was SO hot that I couldn't hold my hand over it. Pulled over and the head was so hot, I could smell it before even opening the bonnet. The top rad hose was boiling and the bottom hose was stone cold. There was still no flow across the header tank. Limped it to Phils and the first thing he did was pull off the return pipe and blow through it, it wasn't blocked. Started it up and the return pipe started gushing out water, and the water pump was working. Properly properly weird. So the car is in at Phils having the cambelt, tensioners and water pump done. I've been offered a free large port AGU head so I'll probably be fitting that along with S3 injectors and a large port inlet, which will give me a bit more power. Poor poor car I did clean it at Phils this morning though haha! And if it looks this good broken, imagine how awesome it is working - Then Phil took Joe out to show him Ron (290bhp A3 which is otherwise totally standard...) And Ron's just blown up, hydraulic locked and bent a valve and or a rod.
  17. I literally just asked Simon; he's done 8K on it and it's never had a fault yet. It gets ruined daily and has done two drag weekends at pod. I don't know what Prawns/anybody elses problem is. This turbo has been more reliable than his £1000+ CR Hybrid was. Yeah that could work well Robin, but don't forget we've got Dan who can rebuild anything you need very well and cheaply. I'd also look at a K03 hybrid then, I've got two spare K03's is you want one?
  18. I don't really care if he's an engineer or how immaculate and perfect his build is in his eyes, I preferred it when it was a daily driver anyway. I just wish he'd stop whining on about it, he's obviously just a bit gutted he wasted his money on a K04. - You need a go in my car, I saw your comment about Phils car and my car not having enough top end power. But in your Scirocco it's going to be so fast with a K03s anyway you won't need that top end power, the immediate punch of a K03s is pretty awesome and my car makes more torque than most K04 builds do. Otherwise you could go for a K04001, which is K03 fitment and quite readily makes 250bhp, highest I've seen is 268bhp at R Tech. Or, you could just be a man and fit an ebay GT28. It'd cost you less than £800 with what you've already got. How is the Scirocco anyway?
  19. You're just pissy because it's faster than yours and cost £5. Go whine about it elsewhere, preferably ASN where other "engineers" might value your opinion.
  20. I don't need to; this one makes more power than all the other GT28 based builds and it isn't just my opinion that this one offers more drivability than ones with 100bhp less. I've driven it as it sits today, nobody else here has. I've been in Pauls S3, by far one of the most expensive and 'perfect' GT 1.8t builds out there, it is hero worshipped for being so perfect and uncompromised wherever it goes. Simons drives better. Niki at R Tech has driven more big turbo 1.8t's than we will see in a lifetime. His opinion is exactly the same.
  21. This. Simon made the 'pikey' adapter in the time we have spent typing our replies, and his car is more powerful than all of ours. Less arguments and theory, more doing - I am fitting all my polybushes on Sunday. Can't wait.
  22. LOL Seamons, how do you have a clue what I have or haven't been in? How has Prawn for that matter? Regardless of what I have or haven't driven I am the only one out of us who has actually driven this thing, and I am saying it is awesome and I don't care about a slightly pikey downpipe and adapter flange because the car is epic to drive. It hasn't broken yet, and when it does break I think the downpipe and adapter flange will be the least of Si's worries. Niki made an interesting point yesterday which made huge sense to me; people are USED to seeing super expensive and well marketed products being sold at high prices. So when they see something like a piece of box section with some flanges pidgeon shit'd onto the ends they expect it to be shit because it isn't what they are expecting it to be. Based on this initial reaction like myself people will discard it as a total mess and expect it to be turd. But some how it has made an amazing result, so given that same logic this car MUST be epic because it is better than any other GT28 build it terms of drivability and performance. Nobody has any idea about the setup on the car because it has just been thrown together on the lads driveway. So we all have nothing to go on with regards to how efficient this setup is, or how or why it could be made better. Because it is already the best, so why bother making it better. I love it. Like properly love it. All of this is a total 180* for me because I HATED the car and thought Simon was an idiot. Met him yesterday, and he is the polar opposite of everything I expected him to be, his attitude is great and he is a do'er not a thinker. Again, good work I say. 427bhp or whatever it is now for less than a grand...
  23. I am not sure how much better it can be, it really is great. It is a GT28 based turbo and happily makes 30/40bhp more than other GT28 builds. If it isn't broken don't fix it, IMO. Prawn thinks I am fickle, and that Simon has paid me to say this shit. But seriously it is by far the best driving 1.8t I have ever seen, nobody can be prepared for how great it drives based on the build.
