  1. Do you even know what a carburettor is?
  2. Old school carb talk wahoooo! I love carbs; I've been rebuilding them since I was 4. I haven't in recent years, but it was something I used to pride myself in. My first ever jobs as a kid was rebuilding carburettors on old flymo lawn mowers and on old British bikes. Later building webers and delortos as well as balancing just about everything. SU's are by far my fav carbs; I used to love them. So with that in mind I can safely say that the piston design on a Pierberg, Stromberg, and almost all other side draft carbs which aren't of the butterfly design is actually referred to as a slide and as such Sam isn't that far off the mark. I think we can let him off as almost all bike carbs which he will have come in contact with are a flat or piston slide design. So whilst his term wasn't exactly modern he is right...just not within this context. I would bet a lot of money that there are more slide type Mikuni carbs out there than butterfly type More talk of carbs please; they remind me of happy times with old cars.
  3. Thanks guys. I like the R-tech sticker, it breaks is up a bit. I might change it for a black one. I like that it sounds boosty and raspy rather than chavy and boomy. I also like that there is no smoke on boost/spool up, which makes me happy. You all watching Top Gear?
  4. You all know what this is.
  5. Sr20 E36? I like. - Got bored. Took pictures. Now I'm posting them here.
  6. My car is still alive and well, driving really well now that the head has been done and the new turbo gasket. Just need to find some time to fit the last couple of polybushes.
  7. Remember when you had to give 20 votes for validation?
  8. I love Civic Type R's, shame they are slow
  9. The FR is a diesel variant of the Cupra, not quite on par with an LCR but still a lovely car. Mapped up to 200bhp they are a bit of a beast, depends how many miles you do. You can get a decent R private for the same price as an FR, I'd hold out for an R personally.
  10. It's more that they have become very cheap and are a lot of car for the money. Within the last 12 months they have dropped by a good £2000, but they still look modern and are great cars.
  11. No you aren't, it's almost a grand too much.
  12. He hasn't posted any dyno print outs or even guestimates I don't think? I love Audi 90's as you know, I hope it is fast.
  13. "The kind of power you have now" Explain?
  14. Was it a towing a trailer with 743,000 persian cats in it?
  15. You know Dan on VT who is building the turbo R32? He has been posting some rather special stuff lately. Did you see the TFSI K04 on a 1.8t that Issam posted too? Could open new avenues for us In what sense is it a waste of time, you think it will spin the wheels? Maybe if you drive like a fanny in second, but past there where it counts you'll be flying. And with the torque of a turbo VR for any real driving you'll never need to go below third anyway. Do it I say
  16. Power to weight I am the same as those two though, 200bh/ton was always the rough "it will just spin the wheels" limit. Youtube VR6 Turbo. Say no more
  17. I disagree hugely; to the extent that I feel I could make a huge post that nobody would read. FWD is good and if you are a competent driver (insert comment about me not being one) there is no reason for FWD to be a disadvantage below the 230/240ish bh/ton mark (as a very rough figure), so long as you have supporting modifications. For a daily driver my car is within the "too powerful for FWD" stereotype that people of the internet have, but in reality once you get the hang of the different driving style needed for a powerful FWD it isn't hard to drive and it is actually quite hard to spin the wheels up unless you drive like an idiot. And more importantly a VR6 Corrado is cooler than every single car posted in this thread, and that's got to count for something.
  18. Yeah man I had a 262C and a 240GLE back in the day too. - It's pretty high spec, fully polybushed, diff, BC coilovers, Hi-Spec floating brakes front and rear, some silly titanium race exhaust cams, omex, buckets, half cage and jazz. Goes well and handles great, not too stiff. It will be great on track.
  19. I am going to sell up and buy an MX5; the one my friend has bought is pretty rad.
  20. The last person to sit in the back of my car was Prawn on New Years eve 2012. The last person to sit in the back of my car before that was Prawn on the 7th of November 2009 when Lou came to Basingstoke and we went to the cinema. Before that the last person to sit in the back seat of one of my cars was my dad on the 25th of April 2008 when I passed my driving test. I don't use back seats for people; but I need the space for convenience and so that nothing has to clutter my line of sight when in the drivers seat.
  21. Keep up TB! Since then I have had a Volvo 740, a Clio 172 and an E36 BMW.
  22. They weigh SO much! What do CR seats weigh? Any idea? The cloth S3 Recaros weighed a ton too.
  23. Prawn couldn't even afford full leather?!
