  1. Yea it takes about 20mins to ride from the top of Les gets to Morzine, its a fun ride too. Make sure you visit Les Crossets on the swiss side, the view on a good day is f**king spectacular!!! Heres a good simple map http://mappery.com/maps/Portes-Du-Soleil-Map.jpg As for tyres, 2.5 Highroller single ply 42a with medium weight tube on the front is what I'm running. Probably 2.35 60a minion on the back, again with freeride tube. Im going in august
  2. Uh, regular lubrication and replacement does the trick fine. I voted no, i prefer freedom.
  3. Not really making the most your skills here but is it ok to have a bit of plate, 100x30x10mm. Pm me your price or summit
  4. Wonder where that idea came from Hopefully the weather is nice for you. As a hardcore trials rider you're probably most qualified to take a hardtail to the alps in terms of leg strength and knowing exactly what your back wheel is doing, just let go of the brakes and fly past all the full sussers, its awesome!
  5. You gotta put a lot of air in this tyre to stop it squirming on rocks, as Bigman says it is a lightweight tyre and its got nothing on a der kaiser for stability. Even with a higher pressure you can still preload it on flat ground so its all good so far. The lack of weight makes my normal lines smoother because everything is easier. Havn't tried pushing limits on it so no flats yet!
  6. Cheers for the heads up about OEM stuff, I'll avoid any, "these came with my bike" type auctions then. Getting a better idea about forks now just not gonna rush into it. I didn't have the Boxxers on for long, just a few weeks to try it out for a laugh. Has anyone ever tried that type of set up? Im not saying its great but Its pretty funny when your younger Doing manuals and big drop-offs are a breeze, its real comfy in the air and it still turns in OK You gotta remember, the travel isn't always at full extention, when your pumping round a berm or just pulling G's with front tyre grip, its gonna squash. Uberlong travel hardtails are definitely suited to trials riders methinks, just not as extreme as 200mm on a trials frame
  7. You're pretty much spot on with your 1st guess mate we should be around there at about 4:30. My no is 07860404295 if your nearby.
  8. Im going down devonport to ride the new council estate this evening. Should be out satday too.
  9. Between 11 and 12 is the usual time.
  10. Yea was wondering if I could make such long travel work on a hardtail, if I point it downhill with my weight over the back holding onto wide bars I recon it could handle anything. I used to run boxxers on an orange zero for a while, pretty fun but mabey a bit too much. The 2006 Marzocchi Z1 Light RC2s sound damn good but cant find any just yet. I managed to find the 2009 version going cheap http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260601471109&fromMakeTrack=true cant go wrong with coil I guess or have Marzocchi really lost the plot since 07.
  11. Yea they sound good, I'll have a word with him. Totems and Lyriks are awesome but may be a bit out of my price range. I'll keep checking ebay though. 66 ETA's sound good but from what I've read, any model with an ATA cartridge sounds like a major let down.
  12. Yea the downtube is like a big sail in a sidewind. Pretty scary riding dirt. Still a great frame I thought.
  13. Ah, I think I rode with him once years ago, is he older with curly hair? I remember this guy wedging and wodging his way across some tiny rocks sticking out of a water section, incredible balance.
  14. Is he? No ones ever mentioned him before, does he ride in Plym at all?
  15. I've been getting up to date with bike parts again, trying to bring my old Revell back to life. Im probably going to get the '09 Revell 450r frame http://www.revellbicycles.com/pages/frame.htm because my last one rode so nice. For me a steep headangle with 130mm forks = The headtube has been beefed up nicely so I'm looking to get some longer single crown forks like 160mm+ to handle the end of season braking bumps. Would love some 08 fox van r's but there havn't been any on ebay so far, budget is £350 tops as I'm changing everything but wheels, bars, pedals and rear brake. Anybody rode the rockshox domains? Or is there anything out there you think may be suitable? Any suggestions welcome. I never realised how Marzocchi have lost their awesome reputation since moving to Taiwan, shame.
  16. Im rockin the rock'R now Yet to properly abuse it but so far enjoying the lack of weight, good dry grip and also the higher TPI, hopefully I can wear down the tread before the sidewalls rip open like I've found with the rubber queens.
  17. Really enjoyed that, you ride amazing, would have loved to see more of your perfect frenchies though, specially now you can go so big.
