  3. I got my bike!! I like it. its not finished yet, needs front brakes and new cranks but other than that its good. I have to wait till thursday to ride it though cause I dunno how to do anything so it must go to the bike shop!

  5. all very helpful thanks! but what is a crank remove? just asking cause i think the first thing ill need to to is replace the cranks
  6. Hi, Does anyone know of any websites that specialize in the technical and mechanical side of trials? Like how to fix/tune up your bike and fit new parts. I'm getting my first trials bike this week and i don't want to be talking it to my local bike shop every few days. Also is there any site that has a glossary of technical trials... stuff... Like what certain things are for like brake boosters and other stuff that may not be obvious.. Thanks! Phil

  8. awesome im not gonna lie to you, i cant ride trials and i dont have a trials bike, but thats gonna change in a few weeks. just wanted to see if anyone did ride in newcastle. ive seen riders at haymarket and newcastle uni campus, dunno if that was any of you or not.. and in gosforth how do you get to all these places like? you drive there? phil
  9. Hey if you ride trials in Newcastle you should post something here! I'll be getting a new bike soon so will wanna ride with anyone who doesn't ride a road bike
  10. hey thanks for all your advice! im really leaning towards the onza now especially as i have been offered one by a guy on here for cheaper. btw enter shikari are really very good steve
  11. erm... ok... the 'for sale' part was actually a joke... so if you dont think the onza is good what would you recommend? bearing in mind i still want a 26' bike and cant spend more than 400 edit* i didnt actually know i was a member! when did that happen? oh well
  12. Today I went for a ride on my specialized hardrock (house brick edition) and it turned into a 35 mile ride around the North East. All the while I had to try and keep up with my friend who was riding a specialized langster. If anyone doesnt know, that is a very quick road bike that weighs next to nothing and is piss easy to ride. Anyway, the ride was so fun I decided to sell my hardrock and buy a trials bike... anyone wanna buy a hardrock? Im thinking for the Money/Not a shit bike ration id go for the Onze T-rex Spec 1 and wanted to know if anyone had anything to say about this? Id like to know the weight of the bike most of all but if anyone has any other info/opinions or if anyone owns one id love to hear from you about your experiences.. ive seen the bike for £399
  13. My bike wouldn't be able to cope its proper buggered. I'd have a few injury's after for sure.
  14. Dunno about the hub but its an unmodified specialized hardrock. The bike guy said he was doing something in that area so maybe thats it. Thanks for the help
  15. I mean its like they're in the lowest gear suddenly and the slip round a lot faster than your feet are moving, so the foot you have all your weight on suddenly has nothing to rest on and hits the ground. I'm not sure how to explain better than that so hope it helps. Its like the chain jumps over a few notches on the cog... But that sort of answers my own question. But I'd still like to know what others think
  16. Same here, I also like how trials is so skilled. Its more of an art form. I think its the most visually impressive form or biking to non-bike people.
  17. Recently my bike has been un-ridable due to the fact that at random times while riding the pedals suddenly give way and slip round. If you're standing up, you're gonna fall off... If you're on a road, you're gonna get hit by a bus. Anyone know what the problem is? People have told me the chain is too slack or its an alignment problem. The bike shop count fix it the first time so I sent it back again but I'm unsure if they know whats wrong. Just wondering if anyone has has the same or similar problems?
  18. Good question! I got my first decent bike about a year ago and wanted to get into downhill... I didn't really know what I was doing and a few weeks later I was in hospital with some doctors fingers under my skin feeling for fractures in my skull. After stapling my head back together I didn't really feel the urge to do downhill anymore and I saw some trials footage on an MBUK DVD and decided to learn. That is my highly emotional heart wrenching story hope you liked it... I did not. I think trials has taken off a lot in the past year as almost every time I go out I see people on trials bikes hopping around and that. I never see anyone bad at trials though. And it seems everyone in Newcastle rides 26' when most people on this forum seem to like 20'.
  19. Yeah I was looking at the Phase but apart from the frame and some other small bits it doesn't look a lot much better than my Specialized but feel free to tell me otherwise. I'd rather save up for longer and get a better bike that will last me.
  20. Hey thanks for the response! It has helped me a lot but, I don't wanna get 20', I just don't like them. Also, I cant sell my Hardrock for sentimental reasons. SO... You have persuaded me to not upgrade the Specialized and I'm gonna have a look around and see what I can find second hand. Any ideas of where to look other than eBay? I do like the Onza T-Rex but for £200? That sounds like a ridiculously good deal. Seems to be only 1 on eBay now for £500 new so ill keep looking. Thanks again
  21. i liked this video.. you never see videos of people just starting out. did you mean you've only been riding trials for 2 days?? if so then i like it even more... but yeah it was a bit long ...and the music wasn't great
  22. Hi. I'm kind of new to trials but I've been interested for a while. I plan on riding a lot this summer but I cant afford £600 odd for a new bike. I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading my Specialized Hardrock Sport to make it a bit more trials specific? I'm thinking new wheels might be best for a start as id like to shed as much weight as possible. I have about a £200 budget. Also, would it be stupid to put all the Hardrock parts on a trials frame?? Any riders in Newcastle say hi... I have no one to ride with!
  23. That video is mint! I was wondering what trails would be like on a uni cycle!
