Hi there, Right so, I used to DJ, had some decks, did all the vinyl and stuff and decided that vinyl is rubbish and cd decks were too expensive, so I gave up and sold the decks. So recently I decided to try Virtual DJ and have made some mixes with it... One can be downloaded here - MIXY I was just wondering what peoples views are on this kind of DJ'ing. Back when I had decks I thought that Virtual DJ didnt really count as you don't need to beatmatch anything, but now after trying it, I find a lot of it is actually finding songs to fit together and being creative with the mix. I dont see it much differently from modern CD decks as some can automatically beatmatch too. So, do you think that Virtual DJ doesn't count as being a DJ? Do you think someone would just get laughed at if they tried to DJ at a club turning up with only a laptop?

thats just you opinion. you get paid for doing these, so if someone has free time, i don't think doing the surveys is a waste of it.

Right, first of all, hopefully this wont get locked or be seen as spamming or anything... I usually think these online survey things are rubbish but this one is not bad. Site looks pretty good and I've been doing surveys for a while now. There is no signup fee, you just put in a few details and start doing surveys. Get paid like, 50p - 1pound for each survey and they e-mail you when suitable ones appear. Surveys are kind of annoying but only take like 3/4 mins so not too bad. One good thing about it is that they use a referral thing, so if you get someone else to join, you get any money they make for the first 3 months (as well as them of course). Well i dunno about that but i just bought a mac mini off the education store and they just asked for my college name and city.. seemed to work ok

so basically if i can format the drive as fat 32, then put all my crap on it, it can be read and written but macs and pcs?

i have a PC, and im gonna switch to mac... BUT.. i have a 500gb external hard drive with all my stuff on it, formatted as NTFS. will i need to do anything when i plug the hdd into the new mac? or will it be fine with my files? PHIL

id assume its just standard nus discount?

there is a place near mine that sells the 2ghz mini for ~£450 reckon thats better than off apple with a student discount?

great, thanks for the advice guys. im not fully new to macs as ive been using them at college but i just wanted to know what i was getting into, just incase i sold my pc, got a mac, and thought, oh.. i cant do that really important thing i need to do anymore... i also decided a few hours ago that a mac was a stupid idea and i just needed to format windows and go back to the nice secure 64-bit version. then 30 mins ago i was pissed of with all the error messages i got on a clean install and decided i hate windows. brand new mini mac it is then phil also.. what do mac users do about virus stuff? like, is there some avg alternative? or are there just no viruses?

There doesn't seem to be many 'problems' in this thread. Which is good for me cause im thinking of buying a mac. Sick of windows and my noisy 3m square PC case... Anyone got any advice regarding switching from a PC to a Mac? I do have one major question and that is.. Can I install basic programs onto a Mac? Such as winzip/azureus/firefox etc? or is it dependant on the program every time? Also, is there anything major I should know about Mac Mini's? Also what are macs like for playing videos? like mpegs and avis etc..? you still ned loads of codecs or can i use divx or what? THANKS!!

My question is, if i have a Point of View Geforce 7900GS, do I need to buy an identical Point of View Geforce 7900GS to use SLI? Or can I use any 7900GS?

not worth it, i think its one of the geekyest games ever, i know someone who has it, and for the amount of time effort and money he put into play GH he could have learned to play guitar properly.
