  1. i have a really good scar in the back of my ankle (where the skin is really thin) from cage pedals... dont ever use them if you value your skin below your knees!!
  2. i never thought i'd say it but i prefer the look of the control! I would normally pick a leeson every time but it doesnt look quite right some how? the control looks pretty sweet though! nice
  3. yeah... my mate had a t.pro that snapped in exactly the same place as this! apparently its where they weld that gusset on under the frame...the weld weakens it and there is a stiff part next to the thinner part of metal if you see what i mean?...so it's a definite weak point! sam
  4. yeh, a light sand and maybe a coat of primer...should be fine!!!
  5. if my bikes built by then i might come along if thats ok with you guys? i've not ridden trials for nearly a year though so im going to be well rusty but yeah, if my bikes done...
  6. there is a little thing in ipswich skate park made out of railway sleepers and stuff for trials. it's small...and it's crap but it's something at least!
  7. If you think this is splitting the trials community, wait for the rest of my build!!! ...I've only posted about my rear wheel build so far!!! There's probably much more debate and controversy to come!
  8. yeah, but surely a wider rim makes it harder to get pinch punctures??
  9. Right, cheers for all the help with choosing between the pro2 and and the king! I reckon I'm going to go for the Hope ProII now, thanks for that guys! The only thing now is me and my mate are having a dispute about which rim to build onto it? *I really like the look of the new Revell rear rims with the hexagonal hole and apparently the eyelets make them loads stronger?? *My mates a bit old school and he reckons I should get a DX32 *The other two options im considering are the try all and the echo! views and opinions please! Cheers sam
  10. wow! i didnt realise so many people had such strong views on king and hope hubs! thanks very much, from what i've heard the hope sounds more reliable and lower maintenance?...which i reckon is going to suit me! cheers
  11. ok, now im really unsure! does anyone know how much is a reasonable price for a 2nd hand king? is it ok to buy hubs 2nd hand or is it a bad idea?
  12. ok,safe. does anyone have anything to say against the pro2 hub? Any first hand experience of them skipping or breaking? cheers
  13. ok, i reckon i'll go for the pro2 then... probably the 07 model because im bound to absolutely kill a hub that already has a reputation or reviews for breaking! cheers guys, loadsof help! just wondered if anyone knows how many engagement points the pro2 trials hub has? the king has 72 i think?
  14. really? on tartybikes they said hope had problems with the hub bodys breaking on the 06 models? but theyre £20 cheaper!
  15. ok, cheers guys. cheap 06 or new 07 model?
  16. I'm looking at a new rear wheel at the moment and i wondered whether i should go for a brand new hope pro2 hub or a second hand chris king? obviously the king is a plusher hub, but does anyone have any views on buying hubs second hand? any advice is more than welcome!! cheers sam
  17. I dont have a complete trials bike built at the moment but if a ride happens, I'll definitely be there on my bmx with jonny shoe! Howabout a ride this sunday? Sam
  18. If you want a really cheap, but still reasonably good(ish) freewheel; I had an ACS claw for about a year on my monty 220 and it took abuse really well and the engagement was pretty good for the ridiculously low price! A tip though: if you're going to run it on the front (screwed onto you cranks) get the welded version http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=314 Sam
  19. If you live in suffolk, i could bleed your brake for you if you want and if you can bring you bike to me? I live in martlesham heath near kesgrave/ipswich. sam p.s. when i've got my new bike built up do you want to ride ipswich or somewhere?
  20. Yeah, good effort on making a video, but like everyone else said, maybe keep it a bit shorter. You might find it slightly easier to learn new stuff if perhaps your back tyre wasnt quite so soft as it looked like it was rimming alot? It would also make it easier to lunge further too, and just build up on what you've already got, which is quite a lot from 2 days riding by the way! nice one sam
  21. i started on a monty 220 which i found perfect as a first bike and its really tough, i was well harsh when i started because i went straight into doing big droppy stuff and gap drops before i learnt to be smooth (not adviseable) i really damaged my ankle quite badly but i broke before the bike even showed any signs of failing which shows how good they are!
  22. no ski plate or bashring? apart from that it looks pretty banging and i bet at rides sweet as!
  23. i ride bmx too, so i wear orchid bmx shoes which are designed especially for riding so all the padding, thick and thin bits of sole and stuff are all perfect and they grip the pedals really ridiculously well because they were designed with pedals in mind, not like vans etnies or DCs! buy a pair because theyre well cheap too for what you get. 24. is it a cable or hydraulic disc? do you know the model, because different disc brakes have different ways of adjusting the pads and how close they are to the disc etc. if its a constant rubbing it might be to do with pad alignment and if its one rub per revolution it may be a slightly bent or off-true disc, these can be very carefully bent or spaced with very thin washers where it bolts onto the hub. cheers sam
