  1. tandem chopper?!? seen them before, might be cool!
  2. wow, this sounds like it might work, judging by initial responses/enthusiasm! if theres atleast a few people serious about this we can get it properly organised and stuff!
  3. cycle kind, pedal powered!
  4. I'm building some sort of chopper/longbike at some point (when I have time!) and I reckon it would be quite cool if a few people on here tried to make their own?! If a few TF members built choppers we could do some sort of charity ride on them in the summer, like a coast to coast on homebuilt choppers or maybe a slightly less ambitious distance?! We could also have custom sigs probably a really stupid idea, but what do you all think?

    Tires?

and i find skidding a lot helps reduce tyre weight
  6. i guess so... I put a link in the post above. by the way, the frames all been welded up now, cheers for sorting it out
  7. Mike singleton edit: LINK
  8. RB lever is the best ever (if you can get hold of one!) stick a wanted up in classifieds if/when you get validated, a few people have them kicking about and they are infinitely better!
  9. No, not at-all! I was only joking, it just seems that you make a lot of new topics asking for advice on making decisions! If you're happy building wheels, keep your rim and then you can spend more on abetter quality hub. I'd recomend the tryall rear fixed hub, my girlfriend uses one and it seems pretty stiff. The bearings are good too! The new ones look really nice, but I'm not sure whether I'd trust the flanges! I'd also recomend buying new spokes. Re-using spokes is never a good move (especially if they're already starting to snap!)!
  10. I think it should be fine... But I wouldnt listen to me!
  11. yeah, the more they weigh the more power theyre going to have behind them, so I reckon it will pretty much be balanced out. hard to say though really, I reckon theres an optimum body type for trials riders: 100% ectomorph with high percentage fast twitch muscle... and I reckon around the 11stone mark, 6ft tall ish... This size would suit the geometry of most modern frames too.
  12. Are you incapable of making decisions? You seem to ask the forum to make every single decision regarding your bike for you!
  13. I bet you'll find the power to weight ratio of most riders is pretty similar: The bigger guys are proportionatly more powerful (?)

    Tires?

2.1inch continental explorer on the front at around 30psi, only weighs 598g! 2.35 inch single wall maxxis high roller on the back at around 20-25 psi. much lighter than a dopuble wall 2.5 inch! I also run a tioga ultralight tube in the front to save a few more grams and a schwalbe downhill tube in the back because i was getting a lot of pinch punctures witjh the single wall tyre.
  15. you need 9 quarter inch bearings per side (18 in total) put them in with medium density grease (purple grease or lithium grease is will be perfect) don't over-tighten the cones.
  16. left hand drive and disc? i reckon that could work if you spaced it right...would need to get some bmx cranks with lefthand nano drive. but then you couldnt use ffw. are there and lhd ffw cranks?
  17. You're in the sausage business?
  18. I've never ridden a competition before and I might try this one, anyone local to me going down so i could get a lift? How do you go about entering the EBTC comps? do you have to enter in advanced? Might ride the frame i built at school, would look good in the folder-work if i get photos of me riding it at a competition!
  19. If they had a disc mount I'd almost certainly buy one
  20. looks like his handlebars are about to wipe his feet out?
  21. I think it' all sorted now between Tom and myself hopefully be out riding it on the 9th of March
