I do have acces to alu, and a metal lathe, but that's a lot of hassle to be honest, would be a lot easier in wood, and they should do the job fine in theory!

I'm making a set of extenders for Biddle, and if they're a succes would anyone else be interested in having a pair made? I'll get photo's of the pair I'm making up when they're done, I can realisticaly add upto 40mm per side. (80mm total) I reckon. They will be turned by hand from hardwood and simply wedge into the end of the bars (nice and snug) and have the grips over the top. Basically this is a topic to see how much interest there would be in them, I could probably knock them out for around £4 posted per pair... watch this space!

if you want an inch and a half on each side, I could turn you some out of wood that just wedge in the end? Should be strong enough, got a wood lathe in my shed and some nice mahogany. If they're a snug enough fit and enough material slots inside the bars they'll more than do the job! Shouldnt be too heavy either Edit: I reckon you should just extend one side of your bars to save weight

My brakes have always been rather mediocre, never really affected my riding because I've never known any different and you just learn to be smoother to compensate for it! (and get better at bailing)
