  1. "This is an extremely strong beer; it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. In exactly the same manner you woukld enjoy a fine whisky, a Frank Zappa album or a visit froma friendly yet anxious ghost."
  2. Don't call them 'fixies'. And build your own for that money. Second hand track frame and forks, for £150, £80 for a wheelset and £70 for the rest. You'll end up with a pretty nice bike for that money. Much better than an 'off the peg' for the equivalent price.
  3. So I'm the only one left in here riding road bikes? TT bike is done. Brakes are fitted now too. Cyclo cross bike is all up and running with full ultegra groupset(needs a bit of fine tuning). Need a new rear wheel for the Harrrison, as it was using the disc with a track cog. I'm pretty happy with my 'stable' at the moment. All pretty much exactly how I want them (the harrison will be when I get a new rear wheel atleast!). I can't believe everyone else who posted in this thread has just lost interest or stopped riding?
  4. Building up a geared time trial bike now too (another LoPro). The Harrison is awesome for hacking around and into town, but I want to compete. The new frame haas very similar Geo to the Harrison, but a larger front wheel. I'm sticking gears on it, and a single front ring. Should be an absolute flying machine when it's finished. Thje Zipp is going on a dura ace front hub, and the ambrosio disc wheel is going on the back. Loads of carbon fibre parts to go on it. Rest of the photos here I'm going to put a spoked rear wheel and a clincher on the harrison and get rid of the brake again to make it a more practical everyday bike. It should still be shit-quick (I managed to overtake the 'Suffolk Safe Cam' speed-camera van on it yesterday!).
  5. http://www.freeproxyserver.net/ Just put the address of the site you want to use into the address bar on the page.
  6. Christmas is okay, but it definitely shouldn't start in October.
  7. I also remember plazmatic making rubber disc brake pads for aluminium rotors? Surely similar pads would work well on a carbon rotor for a digital brake?
  8. I used to use a carbon fibre front hub, years ago. It was made by woodman, and took the abuse of trials fine, even built radial.
  9. A lot of touring bikes and cyclocross bikes are starting to use disc brakes now, namely Avid cable disc, but I have seena couple of long distance TT bikes fitted with similar 'prototype' disc brake systems, especially on the front. By the looks of the bike in OP's post, it isn't for the aero advantage, because the tripple clamp forks would instantly out-weigh any benefit there, and compact road brakes aren't a massive aerodynamic issue, especially on modern tt bikes where the frame/fork is designed to improve airflow over this area of the bike, and it isn't for the weight advantage, as there are brake setups on the market which are going to weigh a fraction of this disc setup. I think this is probably just for the bike tarts, and perhaps just because they can. Ultimately pointless on the road.
  10. 99% certain I've broken my 2nd toe on my left foot. excruciating and it properly made a 'snap' sound. it's gone huge and purple too.
  11. I have a brand new, unfitted crown race that came out of a syncross headset years ago. Does it llok like it might fit your one?
  12. Devo-Whip it. Having a private devo revival in my bedroom at the moment.
  13. ride down a big hill, pedalling with the brake held gently on. Rinse and repeat until pads are worn back in.

So it's a potato cannon, without potatoes, powered by brazing eqipment? I might have to make an oxy-acetylene potato cannon now...
  15. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....0&start=160 What are you going to be using the bike for?
  16. Was it minced beef? You'll be fine if it was. Oh well, maybe next time...
  17. Just out of interest, does anyone else have dreams with themselves in, but from the perspective of a third person? It's really weird.
  18. I can\'t be bothered with photo shop, and the only example I can find is a track LoPro, but this shows that the riding position on one of these isn\'t really any more extreme than being on the drops on a standard bike.
  19. What's happened to all the road riders on here?! Did 45 miles today, and it's awesome. Such a natural, efficient riding position. Love it! Sorry for the black and white. It looked really strange in colour, I think it was because the light was so flat and it's a green frame agsainst a green background. I'm happy with it though
