Hey, When gapping, try not to aim to much for distance. Aim to get as high as possible. Don't go to the edge of the thing your gapping off. e.g. A Pallet. This gives your more room for a decent take off. When you have kicked the crank try and get your bum to touch the back wheel, and tuck in as far as possible. Extending the bike as far away from you you can to gain more distance on landing. Go and practice Lewis
