Im after a disc brake but im on a budget, ive seen some riders with a AMAZING front mechanical disc. I know Nail lfrom cardiff had one, i think it might have been avid. Does anyone know what mechanical disc brake works really well? and where i can get one online new?
-
Hmmm, what are the new ones like, I've heard that they are a bit shitty, but have no idea why - anyone got any opinions?
-
Does anyone know anywhere where you can still buy a single rear "old sytle" HS33 either online or by phone order. I found single fronts and pairs, but all the single rears are 05 versions, I want the old one, in a rear, brand new, but i cant find it anywhere, help Dai
-
Ok, but make sure u get open ended gussesets on the top and down tube, even if only one has cracked. cos i dont want it cracking on me again wernt they £150 new for a while - why o why didnt i get one
-
It would be extremely powerful, but also i bet u could get loads of modulation. For the front if u run a v break fron and back, you'd just need to connect the tension springs for each side of each brake somehow, then they would pull out together PS - i'm only in on a sat cos im "revising"
-
Now, theres an intresting idea, wonder if u could set up 2 brakes, one front and one back of the forks or even frame in the rear, so that they come in at the same time, no more brake slipping for sure
-
Me too, love it to bits, can you get a rear cassette that has an 18T cog, cos most have odd numbers
-
tell you what, if you get It welded up with open ended gussets on the underside of both TT and DT like suggested above, and its all nice and black (sprayed professionally where its welded) i'll come and collect and give you £100 cash! Do you have any other parts for sale, pashley forks with 24" mounts for example?
-
Yo rich where are you from, im trying to find out where i can get the ashton welded. If i can would u take £80 since its cracked!?
-
The Ride sounds cool, I dont run gears on my 26, i have single speed, but half the reason i want a 24" is because ive started riding bmx, I'm gonna need gears to ride park and street, some of the stuff i want to do in park needs a bigger gear!
-
For all you mathamatitions if you imagine the wheel going forward and the brakes mounted normally, then the force on the brakes is pulling them off the forks. by mounting the brakes on the back of the forks then the force acting on the brakes forces them into the fork, and so the brakes are stronger. This is why a rear brake is better mounted ontop on the stays rather than underneath (same reason) Did I just answer a question in my own topic? lol PS - john, what width are those bars man, i know its up to prefrence but theres gotta be a nice length to suit 24" style and you must of been tinkering for a while
-
Last Two questions .... Can you still by an ashton ET 24" Frame or does anyone have one for sale? Where can i get mounts modified to 24"
-
Nice one guys, anyone got any ideas what sort of width bars u should be running?
-
Yo John, if your online and not riding Just wondering what your running, gonna be gettin a 24" soon, Just saw TM2 - awsome riding and lush ride! Main query is what forks are you running, what bar and stem ( bar length / cut down ?? ) and what tyres you are using, thankyou DaiTrialz

thats a pretty mint spec, loads of parts i know are good cos i got them on my echo 26" Tell you what my last exams on 25th of this mounth ( final year at uni ) Can we arrange to ride ( you get all ur mates n i'll bring 1 or two of mine ) up your way to southhapton and i can see what it rides like, if its as i axpect then i can get the money together asap and i'l lcome up again and pay you cash. what u think? Dai
-
I will do! By the way, have u got a full spec for me to read, like what forks are they, 24" compatible with rear mounts, look cool. and whats going on in the rear there, will i be able to put a mech on and run gears?
-
Hey, its really nice - but im looking to build something new i think. The other thing is i wont have the money till summer. Theres £100 a mounth been going into a savings account from my pay and the release date is 1st may, so even though i am considering 2nd hand its pointless me saying anything now cos its months away Dai

Hey guys, im looking to build a new 24" Street Trials bike by may. My buget should be up to £1,500 by then. Now essentially i can only see 4 diffrences between it and a 26" and that is frame, fork, rims, tyres. So I thought it best to get some advice off those who've ridden them. I'd like to think im not a weight freak, but every 24" bike i pick up ways a TON so bare weight in mind for me, and give some figures if u got em! What 24" trials frames would you recomend? Ashton ET, Charge, Curtis, Leason? Lightest Are there any 24" specific forks? are there and ones similar to the fattys in both weight and style?I dont like the idea of a 26" fork with movable mounts cos it seems to me the front end would be too high. Advice? What rims should I be going for? I was thinking Sunn Rynos oin a 24", whats good? Finally, what tyres are available for trials use in 24" can you get mitchalin hot's cos red would be cool AM looking to build a nice black 24" Street bike with only one other colour in theme, thanks

well so far people seem to like bristol most, it appears in most peoples list and I love it. Giving everyone time to finnish their exams, what if I say Bristol Thrusday 16th June. By giving it a day well in advance people should be able to get it off. Sounds like a plan!
-
Looks like we're all finishing col/uni/exams soon. Can you all post exactly when you'll be "off for summer" and we can all organize a massive 1st summer ride. Locations that have shown interest are bristol, porthcawl and cardiff from people i've spoke to in Wales. I myself finnish on sat 4th June. Hope we can all go for a mad one together !? This Topic is for everyone, so I hope you ALL reply :) Dai

What would be amazing is if i stripped my new boring silver 05 echo control down and it came out to be that amazing blue toxin colour. However, considering you just did the opposite I think ur quite mad and maybe the badger chikens are coming to get you. 29

:turned: Lush... Excuse my welsh. Mines coming tomorrow, I'll get some pics up when its done, Blue kriss king hubs/headset from the ashton going on, loads of new parts. braided cables, wide blue rims. gumetal and carbon everywhere. should be the best bike ever :) So as one of the 1st to ride it, gotta ask ..... Is that CNC frame shape at the rear as good as a booster, DO the breaks hold well ?? Dai

Thanks for all your help guys. I've just been tolfd that the old Hoffman rythm was a bit on the heavy side at 38lbs, but this years 2005 is only 30lbs, and has a better feel than the wethepeople thrillseeker. Can anyone confirm that the hoffman Rythm PL1 is actually this light ?? Dai
