  1. Haven't used a 610 but I've used the 750 and it's a great camera. I'm a canon user but my work partner is nikon and he uses the 750. Colours are closer to canon in terms of warmth. Focus system is lovely and the ISO capabilities are amazing. Read the review on the link below and you'll want one. http://petapixel.com/2014/10/14/nikon-d750-review-nikon-youve-created-monster/
  2. A week, take more photos I go through one and a half batteries in about 12 hours at weddings ha.
  3. If you can shoot on a full frame camera, you should. The full frame sensor is so much better than a crop. The quality will be better, bokeh is smoother, everything blurs so much better. I think the blur might be due to getting closer with a 50mm than you would on a crop. If the aim is to progress and upgrade as you do, just go full frame now. Will change everything you see and it will happen sooner or later. I went from a 7d to a mkii and never regretted it. mkiii now and mainly due to the focus being better and low light capabilities. I still use a mkii as back up. In other news, Yorkshire is looking lovely right now.
  4. Get the Canon 135L f2. It's an amazing lens, I love it and it's not a bad price for what it is. Way better than the 100mm.
  5. Quick snap from last weekend, no bikes or mountains involved
  6. Duncy H, are you with a guy called Ant? I've ridden Langsett with him a few times. Know him through another guy called Kenny. Small world and all that if it is.
  7. 3 pages in, let's get some photo sorted. First wedding of the year.
  8. I don't think you'd regret the 85mm, if I didn't have a 135mm I'd have an 85mm. No room in my bag for it though. Forget frame rate and time it right Once you go full frame, you'll never go back.
  9. I'd take the 50mm, 17-55 2.8 and as mentioned pick up a 70-200 f4. Still a fantastic lens and I'd bet you'd get one for £400. Any reason you'd go for the 7d mii and not something full frame? Also a side option would be scrap the 17-55 and the 70-200. Pick up a 35mm 1.8 and the 85mm 1.8. Both a good price and be way better than the 17-55. The 85 is a beast lens.
  10. It's already been said but if I could change one thing about my camera history and that would be get the lens first. I wish I'd bought a second hand full frame camera and some awesome lens but instead I took the long route of 450d, 40d, 7d, 5d mkii and now 5d mkiii. Lens choice followed slowly. Would have been better going 450d, then an old 5d mki and then get the lens I wanted.
  11. Cheers CurtisRider, always good to hear.
  12. We've just uploaded some of our favourite images from 2014 if anyone fancies a gander. http://www.stottandatkinson.com/best-2014-stott-atkinson/
  13. This could depend on what she is using to edit with. -We do a shoot. -Transfer to laptop on the way home. -Once home, put the raws into a lightroom catalog and back up to a g-drive which is daisy chained to another which automatically backs up the raws/catalog. -One drive stays at mine, the other goes to photography partners house. -We use lightroom so you work on the raws within a catalog which can be closed and re-opened, the edits are always there as long as you don't delete the catalog. Once edited, we update the catalog file onto the drives, no need to transfer raws again as they are always there. -Exports jpegs for couples, back these up. -We delete the raws and catalog off laptops and the job is done. -6 months later, delete the raws keeping the jpegs.
  14. Get something Full Frame if you can afford it.
  15. Search "Buy, trade, Sell anything Apple in UK." On Facebook. I see loads of MBP's on there cheap. People seem to buy them and then randomly change there mind. You'll easily save a lot of cash. Also, After using pc's for a long time I can say buying a MBP, you won't regret it. I churn through thousands of images a week in lightroom and everything runs smoothly. When the battery says it will last 9 hours, it actually will. Even running lightroom. I shot a wedding in Ascot last week, then culled it down for the 5 hour drive home without any issues. My old laptop would have last a few hours just.
  16. I'd say anyone at around £1200+ should be really good and reliable in all situations. Safe back ups etc. If they offer a book at that price I'd be worried. Tell them to make sure they get on with the photographer(s), you'll always get better images. Check they like the images on the photographers blog plus it's always good to ask to see a full wedding or two so they can see the boring images that might not make it on to a blog. Even the formals, guest shots etc need to be sharp and edited well and above timeless. We charge £1400 for a USB package, pre-wedding shoot to get couples relaxed with us, full day without time restrictions so they get all the party shots etc. Rights to print with the USB. We back up to two G-tech drives and another drive off site. Each image edited individually. Then images delivered to couples within 4 weeks. I'd recommend taking there time until they find someone the click with. Hope that helps.
  17. Pockets wizards can trigger camera, I'm 99% sure the old ones can too so you could probably find some quite cheap. Never used them so don't know all they ins and outs sorry.
