Can Anyone Here Tailwhip There Mod?
mettam1988 replied to Mod Man Leo's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i can whip my bmx but my cables arent long enough on my trials bike. also i dont see much point, if i want to do that kind of thing then ill ride my bmx. i ride my trials bike when i want to be more precise and smooth (which is utterly pointless if i try to do tailwhip drops). having said that i am now tempted to route my front brake through my top cap and try it out. -
my girl knows where she stands, she comes to the skatepark with me and drinks tea and takes pictures. then i take her home and make her a meal. that way im happy and she is happy. its a fine balance. hahahahahahaha. girls are more multi purpose though, you can do lots of different things with them also she drives my car down the hill and takes me back to the top when i go downhilling, which is awesome. its like being at an uplift day!

when i stick my brake on one side doesnt return. this means it rubs a quite a lot. any suggestions on how to fix this?

i think its mostly down to technique, if you look at the top guys they arent built heavy, they are just lean and have really good technique. the problem with being heavily built is you then have extra weight to move, its not like weightlifting where your mass stays on the ground. in trials you have to get yourself up to the ledge as well as your bike. id say youd be better off getting lean and increasing your strength to weight ratio rather than bulking up bodybuilder style.

they work really well on a bmx as you tend to run them at a really high pressure meaning that you dont suffer from any flat spots or anything because the high pressure evens them out. i think they would be great as a temporary measure, something to get you home (just cut out old tube and replace with a cobra). but if run at low pressures they might not be so evenlyinflated, also they are designed for small volume tyres (which almost all bmx tyres are) so again might not be great on the back of a mod. has anyone tried it though? ive never thought of doing it despite running them in my bmx.

i got my first bike on wednesday (a old megamo), problem is im not sure what the gear ratio should be, im used to playing onmy freinds zoot and my mod feels like the ratio is waaaay to low. i find it really hard to lunge onto anything higher than knees as i cant get the power to cover the distance and go up (even when im as close to the wall as possible when i start). ive resorted to having my left foot really high when i start so that i have more pedal rotation. is this normal, am i being a spaz and what gear ratios do most people run? im currently running 16 at the front and 13 at the back using a front freewheel.

backwards manuals. i saw chris ackrigg (pretty sure it was him) 180 onto a ledge, backwards manual round in an arc and then half cab back off the ledge. looks so cool if you can do it smoothly.

not a trials injury, he hit a tree whilst riding some downhill. but still pretty impressive as he was wearing a full face helmet at the time. Needed som stitches and got knocked out and concussed. was ok though.

ive been on two rides and can do controlled kick hops, lunges, sidehops from rear wheel, and drops up to about a foot and a half, i can also up to rear wheel on 3 pallets. i have an advantage though as ive been riding bmx for about 5 years so a lot of it comes pretty quickly.

Whats Your Worst Hit In The Shins?
mettam1988 replied to Onza-Trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i wear shin pads now because i took a small piece of bone off my shin when i fell off at the skatepark. has left me with a nice scar and a hole. -
for going clubbing or gigs, spirits every time, possibly mixed with redbull. for nice summer days, magners with ice or a bottle of ice cold coors (so damn refreshing) for watching the rugby (or similar), a pint of the local bitter or whatever beer is cheap in the student union. for evenings after a cold ride, coffee with whiskey and cream in it i like to mix it up, variety is the spice of life etc.etc.

i reckon you will get trials competitions where you get marked on style and tricks as well as completeing the course, kind of like the slopestyle scene but trials not jumps, start seeing barspin drops due to the use of hydraulic gyros and things. i think that would be pretty cool to watch, would probably get a lot more people interested.

i live in discovery heights (big red tiled place between uni and sainsburys) and willl be living on mutley plain next year. Plymouth is the reason i took up trials, theres so much street to ride and loads of people to ride with. made sense to get into it. you should leave a message on here if you come back, go for a street or play on the hoe.

Do You Get Hassle Whilst Riding Street?
mettam1988 replied to ridelife's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
yeah the best one i had was some guy who said he wanted to buy my bike. asked me to meet him in a sketchy back street in 30minutes where we could 'negotiate' for the bike with his 'mate who knows about this kind of thing'. needless to say i didnt go. -
fair enough question answered. what advantages do isis have then? cos i always thought they were stronger and that was why they cost more and were therefore better
