  1. i think top gear proved this: jet powered minis = amazing. now i need to find a road going version
  2. in which case i take it back
  3. 1)trials pads are soft 2)soft pads wear quickly 3)grinds increase friction meaning pads wear down more quickly than usual 4)dragging brakes wears pads down really quickly do the maths. if u ride a trials bike u expect the pads to wear down quickly. no way round it im afraid.
  4. so long as u buy the more expensive ones like the shadow conspiracy one then they are fine. the cheap 9.99 half link chains tend to be pretty poo in my experience
  5. id have thought they would weigh a poop load. and u can get steel discs to bite pretty well anyway so i guess its not worth the effort to make. maybe in the next few years
  6. if youve been up writing essays or cramming its always good to have a break and browse the forum before finishing/going to bed.
  7. cheers man thats awesome, ive been meaning to find that calculator for ages. wont have to ring up my local bike shop for spoke lengths now.
  8. Roughly how often do you buy a new frame B)7-12 months How much do you spend on a frame e)£251-300 Is a custom geometry important c)Undecided Do you prefer frames to be handmade a)Yes Which of the following is most important to you when buying a frame Quality of build Would you buy from a newly started company a)Yes Would you prefer a frame to be cheaper or have added extras(I.E different drop-outs, integral booster) b)Extras there you go.
  9. well i have three bikes (bmx dh and trials) so i think two is reasonable. if your going to ride them then why not?
  10. nothin, give me a buzz if u wanna do somting ayyyye

  11. nah didnt win it, gonna keep looking for stuff though

  12. oh bananas bananas bananas

  13. larry! you always wear shorts, never seen u in anything else (apart from pants and a lab coat, but thats between me you and the uni bike club haha) i wear a pair of cheap trous. tesco do jeans for £3 which is pretty good as i get them caught in my freewheel once a week. gonna get the shorts out soon though as the weather seems to be clearing up
  14. phwoar! im glad noone put a bid on that, its sketchier than a drunk artists impression of a picasso. for sure its not theirs if they even have it.
  15. basically if you arent a kid dont ride on the pavement and you wont get a fine, its pretty simple. if you want to take the risk then dont complain if you get caught. its like speeding, ive never understood people who argue about it with the officer. if youve done wrong be man aenough to admit it. its not like pedalling makes u go much faster on a trials bike anyway, might as well get off and walk to be honest. and simons right, if your hopping about on walls and leaving marks etc then its a fair cop.
  16. Its never worth arguing with police they WILL win. after all they have been trained and taught about all those kind of laws, purely so that they can fine people and not get sued later on. If you cant leg it away then just be very meek and apologetic and say u didnt realise. usually they let u off. at the end of the day we all know we are being illegal so its a fair cop really. i agree that getting a fine sucks gooch though.
  17. MATALAN!!!!! you must be rich! i go for tesco value jeans, £3! I can rip a pair a week and its not a problem, even on a student budget.
  18. its nearly summer so y not just wear shorts.....
  19. For prices you would have to email him, depends on surface area/size/colour and many other factors. i seem to remember a dh frame was 100 quid to anodise
  20. i bet your really popular with skaters and bmxers if you put tar on their grind rails. i got an image of a skater trying to slide a rail and suddenly hitting a bit of tar and stopping dead.
  21. trials bmx and downhill. i ride all of them about equally. photos of my bikes in the link below if anyone cares
  22. ok hes now back and answering emails so if anyone wants something anodised then send an email.
  23. quick update, he is currently on holiday snowboarding for a few weeks so probably wont reply to emails for a while. but here is his address anyway; stevebarry1978@hotmail.com as soon as i get my linkages back ill stick a photo up so u can see some more of his work.
  24. hey, i am getting some shock linkages done for my dh bike with this guy, ive spoken to people i know who have used him and apparently he is the nuts! heres a link to his website: http://anodising.blogspot.com/ he does some seriously cool stuff in pretty much any colour you could ever want. basically so long as its aluminium he can anodise it. few things to remeber if you decide to use him are that; - he can strip existing anodising off but NOT exisiting paint so that is your job - ONLY aluminium, no ti, steel or iron - he needs the parts ready to anodise ie. free of bearings or anything steel/ti/iron as they will all be killed when he sticks it in the vats of acid. hope this is helpful to people. i know lots of trials riders who would love this kind of thing.
