My Bottom Braket Thread Is Broke...........
gianttrials replied to Mod Man Leo's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Thats true, it would be pointless even attempting to re-tap the thread. Just buy a new BB and an LX should be alright i'd say. What i would reccomend is that you don't get a XT or XTR BB because they're to weak for trials (Because they're XC BB's). Hope this helps mate, Ben g WST -
Why were you persuaded away? Because it snapped? Or the cost perhaps? Cheers mate Ben g WST

Hi there everyone, just started riding my new mod recently and i have to say it's nice to have a thicker stronger chain than what i have on my stock. Well I was just wondering if anyone has used a single link type chain instead of a normal singlespeed or BMX chain. My mate has one on his BMX, but i just wondered what peoples opinions are for using one for trials riding. It looks cool but not sure whether to buy one or not (is it worth it/are they good value?), anyones opinions are much appreciated, Cheers everyone. Ben g WST Anyone?

What Fron Brake Shell I Get?
gianttrials replied to Antilope-Trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
185mm might be abit to big for a mod? Perhaps a 165mm would be better, not entirely sure though, maybe have a look one there website!!! Ben g WST -
What Fron Brake Shell I Get?

I totaly agree. Ben g WST -
It's a good thing you don't live my way because the police wouldn't accept that you can't fit a light on the back and they'd just give you hassle, because there that petty. Although come to think of it more trials riders round my way would be oh so good. Ben g WST

I personally would only run a disc on the rear if you don't prominantly hop to the lefthand side. If you do hop prominantly to the left don't bother with a disc unless your super confident you won't land on it. Hope this helps. Ben g WST

Good call, cheers mate, Ben g WST

Hi there mate, I would recommend you getting a monty 219 frame from tartybikes (approximately £145). They have magura 4-bolt mounts, and look pretty cool. Worth a look. Hope this helps. Ben g WST
-
Yep multi-spline, they were mine but I let him have them as his bashplate was knackered. They're definetly worth a try. Ben g WST

I'm guessing the cranks are something like DMR Chieftain 3-piece cranks. My mate runs them on his Koxx mod and they're really strong. Deffinatly stick with them buddy, and they look different aswell, NICE. Ben g WST

Pashley (Ashton/Tongue 24"), Leeson or a Curtis perhaps. All good frames. Ben g WST

Get an XTR or Avid Arch Rival, they're amazing when set up right. You can't go far wrong with them, wish i had them on my bikes but there so expensive. I use Avid Single Digit 5's and they're good value for money and work really well, especially good if your on a budget. Hope this helps, Ben g WST

What Do U Perfer My Dad Says A 26 Is Better But No!
gianttrials replied to t-liteboy's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
This is a pointless argument, i've seen amazing stuff done on both stocks and mods so no one person can really say. Personally i ride both 20" and 26" and feel they compliment each other. Thats my opinion, doesn't mean i'm right though like some people think they are. Just ride what you want and get on with it. It doesn't really matter aslong as you like it. Hope this helps. Is There Any Makes Of Trials Stuff You Hate
gianttrials replied to Ollie Y's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I strongly disagree because there are advantages to both stocks and mods and there not made for kids (kids run shorter stems anyways). Don't dis till you try. It's a shame people keep having this re-ocurring argument about whats better 'Stock or Mod'. There so different from each other you can't really say. Just ride what you ride and enjoy it. Stop slagging off about it. Some of the Newbury Boys especially like to slag off mods, and I can't understand why because at the end of the day we're all doing the same thing. Sorry to rant but it has to be said. Ben g WST -
It seems quite nice mate, and aslong as you like it, thats all that matters. Enjoy!!! Ben g WST

Lmao. . Another Reason To Hate Trials Shop...
gianttrials replied to trial-biker-ryan's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Yep good idea stick to Tarty, although i ordered some bits to arrive on friday and the delivery driver went straight to my next door neighbours house and gave them my items and didn't put a card through my door or anything and i waited for hours after, and not able to ride my bike. Tartybikes are the best for Trials stuff undoubtedly in this country, but anyone ordering from them be aware of what the delivery drivers are doing, IT'S NOT TARTY'S FAULT THOUGH, THEY'RE AWESOME. Best Place You Have Ever Ridden?
gianttrials replied to peterjamesbailey's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Devon, Bristol, Porthcawl are places i've loved riding before and would like to ride again. France looks to have good riding potential from what i've seen in the leaps and bounds dvd aswell. I hope to ride in Rhyll this year it looks awesome for street, and closer to home will be riding Street at Street in Somerset soonish. Ben g WST -
Well me and my mate made a similar topic the other day, and then 2 nights ago got told of by the old bill for not having lights on, they said we would have to go to the copshop with lights fitted within 7 days or we'd get a £30 fine or court appearence. We went down yesterday with lights atteched to are bags which the officer the night before said was alright, but the cops at the station said it wasnt, so we bodged them on our mods with tape and that still wasn't good enough for them, so in the end we fitted the lights with brackets (rear on seatstays) and they finally signed of our bits of paper. they took our names, addresses and tel numbers. The coppers at the station were really arrogant and ignorant calling our bikes BMX's and saying we shouldn't be riding them anyway because they had no seats. Were now going to use those small L.E.D lights that wrap around. I think the fine amount varies to what region your in by the way. Ben G WST

well after 3 attempts today me an ben j finally managed to get are letters signed of to say we'd fitted lights. the officer that did sign was fine about the whole thing and made a joke out of it, but two of the other officers were really arrogant towards us, like we were proper criminals. it certainly gives you faith in the justice system to know that there like this to people who just keep out of the way and don't cause hassle to anyone!!! obviously the real criminals are laughing because the police spend to much attention on initiatives and petty things!!! instead of sorting out real crime. Ben g

yep zap-taps. i also like 360 bunnyhops from stand still, and really into sidehops at the moment.
-
Police not catching criminals and instead getting at trials riders for petty crap, Bad weather, Old and young people that moan at us, Not making something that i know i can do, Bike repairs, People calling mod bikes BMX's, thats about it!!!

taht looks really trick, nice work

sorry to hear that mate, have you got insurance on your bike? if so you might be able to get a new one, but just say it was locked up. hope you get it back though, good luck mate, ben g

it's all about personal preference, try things out though before shedding out a load of money on bits, and there's always arguments about whats better, JUST RIDE and don't worry too much. gianttrials
