Im surprised that one has mentioned FiveTen Impact shoes(checkout ChainReaction cycles). Fiveten are the grippiest shoes out on the biking market today period ...unfortunately, they are ugly looking.

The Tensile headset sounds good on paper, but how throughly tested has Danny Butler put it through its paces in terms of stress and tolerance? would tensile put a 10yr warranty on it , or is it just a Chris King look-a-like with a load of tech jargon attached to it? Ps, Chain Reaction cycles are selling King no thread headsets on sale for £65 . that is where my money is going on a headset this year.

Gezz chai, you must be bored to enquire about such a tricky topic. personally, i reckon your focus should be on promoting trials on a large public/commercial scale, rather than pro status via reaching out to a handful of people from doing demos. in my view, your best chance to make trials a bigger and more noticeable sport to the public eye, is via publicity stunts and via commercial interests with events like this summer UrbanGames and london 2012 olympics. sign yourself up as bicycle stunt rider could help brake certain barriers to ride virtually anywhere to promote trials via possible filming projects ie; jump london style documentary on bikes, or some publicity stunt like that french dude whom calls himself the Real Spiderman by scaling very tall buildings unaided and no ropes.

How about this for the level in trials. A FIXED FREEWHEEL ON 2OIN MOD WITH NO BRAKES! Maybe someone could design/build a freewheel with some kinda gear/cable attachment enabling the rider to switch from freewheel to fixedwheel. imagine the possiblities. ok, ok it will feel weird to ride at first, but who knows, someone might try it. another idea is for a 20in mod rider using a bmx freecoaster if the pick up was good enough for trials use. though cant think what benefit running one would have except to roll backwards without pedalling.

I was wondering if anyone has been watching that tv talent show on bbc1 "When will i be famous"(every saturday around 7:30pm). i just wondering if anyone with bike skills, has been screened yet? because the way this talent show is conducted, there has to be two acts of a simular discipline/skill which is judged by a panel of judges before the final public vote of which act/skill goes through to the next/final round. the two guys flexing and twisting their bodies/(limbs was mind blowing. the female martial artist was pretty cool. be good to see two bike riders (either bmx or trials) doing some skills on national tv.

London (can We Change It To Saturday?)sunday 18th
Rusevelt replied to Fixed Pants™'s topic in Member Organised Rides
im down if i can say awake after getting back from work . i guess tim wont be down with yet another cracked frame. -
Cool pics. hopefully there will be alot more pics if sunday 18th, london ride goes down. Personally, id like to get chai and company down south east greater london.

Nice. but how about doing a wall tap to 180 on the backwheel. the only logical way to nail this move is tap the wall at an angle instead of dead straight like a regular wall tap, then hopefully the momentum and compression will twist you and bike 180 as you surge up the wall, hopefully landing 180 on the backwheel.

:$ yeah, silly me 4 not looking at the date of the post, though generally most of us type in the date on the topic title. never mind Chai and co are expected to be down london this sunday 18th. usually time and place. dry weather permitting.

I remember the 1st time when Chai attempted that sidehop-2-hopup-2-wheelswap-2-drop, chai took over 15mins to balance and set himself up, that myself and matt staples, tim and co tried to pressure chai to hurry up and nail that line. then staples attempted the same line and stacked badly. by then we realised how hard that line was to nail.

London (can We Change It To Saturday?)sunday 18th

i think you fail to grasp why london rides are conducted on sundays. less hassle from on duty police/security, less people/tourists getting in your way. some of us work! -
A tailwhip gapjump from a backhop! damn that seems even harder than attempting the same trick going forwards. just goes to show with a little imagination and a hell of lot of dedication, virtually anything is possible on a bike. id like to see someone attempt a bunnyhop bikeflip on bike(weather it on a bmx, or trials bike). ok, ok, maybe that trick is a few yrs away because you need a light bike and powerful rider to flick the bike around in midair.
-
Chris Smith has been running his trouble free for years. No more worrying about stacking your bike from a drop, and helplessly watching your bars spin out of control and rip your hose out (regardless how long you run your cable). as for progression of trials trickery, triple tailwhip drops would be possible, someone on a 20in mod can now consider attempting a gapjump tailwhip, or bunnyhop tailwhip. sidehop barspin, pinky squeakers, if you dont mind mixing some flatland to trials. Or how about doing Decade trials drop (for those of you whom know of the decade, aka vertical boomerang, from flatland bmx). love the idea or hate it, someone will eventually bring these tricks and more to trials mainstream, in the same way Chris Akrigg, and Eddie Tongue, brought flowy bmx style to the traditional hoppy style. its gonna happen, its just a matter of time.

Without a doubt, the most dynamic 20in mod rider ive seen to date Where the hell does he find the power to do that Double Fakie wallride (from a static trackstand position) to static 360 flick at such warp speed? For such an old vid, id hate to think what he can do now! assuming he still rides.

Martyn Ashton was secretly working on the idea of a Backflip drop via learning the backflip jump. if you followed the HipHop articles years ago, Martyn 1st mentioned the idea of a backflip drop to bring something new and original to trials. martyn even stated (again in mbuk/hiphop) that learning the backflip jump was only the 1st part of his new trick. so you have to be a total retard in not figuring out what martyn was really up to. So unless martyn has suddenly got cold feet, i reckon he has abandoned the backflip drop possibly due to commitments with his demo & company work, after all, he is a family man and a pro rider that cant afford to take too many risks with new dynamic tricks. but im sure he hopes sometime in the near future, that someone will take up the challenge of learning it (Frontflip drop has already been dialled by that trialster on the monty). On the issue progression, no one is gonna backwheel 6ft via front bump/bunnyhop anytime soon. the same goes for sidehops as a 60in hop by someone is years away(checkout the 66in hop without a bike on youtube). Gapjumps, ive only seen Akrigg, Neil.T, reach 10ft from a static position. Nobody has tried to vamp up the main trials moves like doing a Sidehop with an X-up, or barspin, or bmx invert in midair. or throw a Neil.T style gapjump and tweak an X-up, barspin, tailwhip, or moto whip in midair(except the akrigg gapjump whip in Earthed4). or do a regular gapjump but cross-footed (right foot on left pedal, left foot on right pedal). this generation of trialsters just dont have that unique vision, or interest of doing such stuff. lets face it guys, how many unique original known riders are out there apart from Akrigg & leech? the UCI trialsters are just gonna go bigger, higher and more tech lines. Unique riding lines, and multiple combo moves are the only way forward for trials at the mo...

Is There Any Info On The New Ashton Justice Yet?
Rusevelt replied to trialsguru's topic in Trials Chat
Never mind about 07 justice frame, when is Martyn Ashton gonna get his new site up and running? Its been months since mbuk magazine informed us about the rebuild of the original site which was lame anyway. and with the team up with Orange bikes, you would have figured they would have used their experience to bling-up the look of the site as a sister company. Maybe the support of trials from orange isnt as genuine as they make out. The Orange Zero, was an awesome frame for its time, but those days are long since gone -
Nice little vid Loved the tune, and the last ride sequence at the end. i guess the snow wasnt powder enough to get the effect you wanted for the camera. Nice try though.

You guys are pure comedy
-
Which is the lighter custom Ti bike out of you and your friend? i guess both bikes weigh around 22-24lb.
-
Its a pity the snow coverage wasnt heavy enough to build a snowjump, or mould trials sized rocks to hop about on (providing the cold nights, freezes them hard). Guess we can all forget about any riding plans this weekend.

Style43.com - Karl Poynter + Bram Verhallen Interviews
Rusevelt replied to Mark W's topic in Website Updates
Cool website and Youtube clips(that Asian girl on the unicycle was jaw-dropping). Personally, i hope this website covers a wider range on the urban theme. id like to see some coverage of original Parkour, mtb street, mtb trials, and any other extreme skills, or disciplines, us urbanites do on the streets. Fat chance that will happen.. -
Yeah it be should at Begjing 2008, but not for London 2012. Why? your guess is as good as mine, but i bet it is something political, commercial, and involves money. The size of a sport shouldnt apply anymore because society and attitude has changed, hense london hosting the first Para-olympics (spelt wrong i know). If a dedicated sport like trials, which has an international fan-base following with competition events, that should be reason enough to be promoted to olympic status. but of course, this is THE REAL WORLD were dealing with here and there is alot more to it. Commercial issues are a big key factor when it comes down putting money into a tech sport like trials. still, weve got 4-5yrs to prove our worth before we give up for ghost.
-
Which is why an an olympic sized bmx stadium is gonna be built in Lee Valley/east london, to host all the main competition events of flatland, vert ramp, dirt jump, and street course. for a fraction of that money, a uci trials course and Redbull bike-battle style trials course could easily be built. I dont know why bmx finally got accepted to olympic status, but i dont buy the idea about how much money the sport makes, which trials still has a chance to promote itself. its just a matter of time...Maybe we need a JUMP LONDON style tv documentary on bikes or something.

Would A 29in Trials Bike Be An Advantage?
