White rims, black spokes and white hubs would look pretty damn good i reckon. you could just spray your hubs, provided you're careful when you build the wheel back up it should be ok.

I found a flaw with the ol thicker sidewall idea. Instead of a small dent in my rim after a bodged drop gap i now have a fecking great flat spot!

Don't dismiss square taper just yet, ISIS is supposedly stiffer but i cant tell the difference. Bearings will last a lot lot longer in a square taper bb and i've seen an equal amount of both types with snapped axles etc

If its an hd axle you will need a 3/32 allen key. you will find that the bearings will wear in and become slightly loose over the first few weeks. all you have to do is undo the bolt and tighten up the collar, then nip up the bolt again.

I found the best way is to build up the wheel first, then mask up the nipples and use newspaper to cover the rest of the spokes and hub. insert into old frame or forks, spin the wheel then spray away. its time consuming but it gives an amazing finish
