Nitro-morse it, wash it down and white spirit it to clean grease and other dirt off, then you could sand it if needed, but it'll be fine just spraying onto it. Put some primer down if you want a quality finish, otherwise spray away.

Alpine or Pioneer are usually a good choice. The new alpines do everything you want, but you might want to check specs, but not sure about control from ipod rather than HU. Need an older model to do this, as most the newer ones are HU control, as this is something I wanted, but couldn't get. Control from the HU is alright though.
