Yea I think a booster is a definate need, I'm also concious about catching the crossover pipe, I've seen many brakes split like that. I think I am getting one off of Matt as a temporary job anyways.

To be quite honest this kind of thing happens a lot, and in most cases the person doesn't get anywhere with trials or gives up. I'm not saying that this is going to happen to you, but it just makes things silly. If you start off on a top range bike, if you was to learn all the stuff, ride trials for a few years and progress, what bike would you progress to?, it takes away all the excitement of one day having a "Dream bike". Secondly, starting off on a cheaper bike will mean you will be less concious about damaging your bike, progressing in trials can be a hard task and the bike does take a beating, so thats why its best to learn on a cheaper bike, then once you have learnt the skills you can switch to a better bike without having to damage it so much. Just stick to Onza, you don't really need a bike much higher than that, its definately the rider not the bike. A T-Bird would get my vote as a good starter bike, or T-Pro, but nothing higher than that. Don't just assume or think, good bike = good riding, I mean maybe I'm being a bit prejudice towards you, but look at some of the people on the forum, Danny Kearns has already been mentioned when he had his Zona Zip its not exactly a top range bike but he is a really good rider. Matt Staples made a video last year [LINK] in which he is riding an almost standard T-Mag, but look how good of a rider he is. Also think of this, £600-£700 is a lot to pay for a bike, especially at your age (and I'm assuming skill level), that could definately be spent on other things or saved for the future (car, moped etc). Like I said, don't go any higher than an Onza and you will be perfect. -Tom

Who The f**k Keeps Buying These Shite Kids 2k Bikes!
Captain Scarlet replied to Davetrials's topic in Trials Chat
I ditto that, I started on a jump bike with brakes that only worked if you used all of your fingers on the brakes. At crimbo I only just managed to persuade my parents to get a T-Vee, which was really scraping the edge of my limit, and that was when it was at £250, lots of kids round my area saw everyone else getting in trials so they bought the best bike they could via the local shops, a T-Comp. They learnt how to pedal hop off of tall things, screwed about with the bash, not exactly getting anywhere, and sold their bikes about 3-4 months after. Its ridiculous in my opinion. -
Nah, the one that came as standard ripped so my dad threw it, the MBUK one wouldn't squeeze all the way round, and the old grip was too thick.
-
Yes there are too many T-Pro's on trials forum, but its such a vast improvement from my T-Vee, I just had to post it up Specification (New bits): 06 T-Pro frame Monty cranks Eno freewheel Echo cog FSA spacers Onza bashplate Tensile mounts Monty rear wheel Creepy Crawler tyres I got the whole list here for just over £200, so I think it was a bargain to get so much of an upgrade.

Ah that sucks man. You ever considered using cable brakes?, perhaps you might be able to get a good set-up out of them mate?
-
Whey I've been waiting for this, is some really amazing and inspirational stuff. Loved that manual, out of all the attempts it took, it looked like it was worth it. Me, Steve and Reece was riding the wall by the phonebox in the morning, and saw the gap and said "I'd like to see someone do that", now thats been done lo. Good job,
-
Yea man I agree, I haven't seen you for a bit either, hope to see you there. Tis looking good, lets hope the weather gets better.
-
I believe you can, my mate bought a Try-All rim in Fluro Green and it had the sidewalls painted. Have you considering a Monty rim Baz?, They come in white too.
-
Yea I wanna see some of Chai's pics, the sidehop and the rail gap. Also because I'm in the backround munching on a Prawn and Mayo Sandwhich. Also Steve get that clip up of your leg falling in the brown glass bin. =D Was an awesome ride.
-
Yea man, I'd be up for that. Cheers for the comments mate.
-
Well okay, as stated we are all meeting at Chelmsford station at 10, so the more the merrier. I got my T-Pro finished so I'm in for definate. Me, Reece, Steve (T-Lite), Jack, Lee, for definate, and then the Benfleet lot if they get there arse's down there.
-
Tried it man, none around this area. =( Ah well I'm working at Autoparts in the summer if you know that shop? so hopefully I'd be able to get a bit out of that. =D
-
That trials is expensive for a 15 year old who is on a fiver a week.
-
Yea that was Charlie and his EST crap. Charlie: "I'm going to Southend tommorow, you coming?" Tom: "Ah dunno mate, bit short notice, who you going with?" Charlie: "Me and you?" He also said the same thing about a London ride. I don't see why it matters to Charlie, he can't ride trials and hasn't tried for months. But yea, me and Reece wouldn't stick anyone up, we would like to ride Southend sometime, so definately consider it in the summer. =D Cheers for the video comments guys.
-
Brilliant, I'm definately there.

Hey guys, I've just been meaning to get this done for sometime, first video featuring the main riders in our area. I edited the intro like an episode of Thunderbirds, so you might find that a bit interesting. Final length, 4:14. Also features Steve denting his frame. Music is "Hundred Mile City High" by "Ocean Colour Scene". Riders: Me Reece Hearn Steve Tiller Comment's, critique, feedback or anything would be appreciated. Enjoy, *Sorry about YouTube, its just as bad for me as its taken shizz loads of the quality out.*

Ride is approaching guys. Meeting at Chelmsford station at 10:00am.

Zona Zipp +crap Parts Or T Lite With Good Parts?
Captain Scarlet replied to rudirudirudirudirudi's topic in Trials Chat
The "T" stands for "Too" in my opinion. (Too-Lite) They are okay bikes, but are a bit dated and weak in my opinion. It all depends on the riding, if he wants a bike that is going to last him then get the Zona, if he's a begginer and won't do nothing too big then get the T-Lite. I mean, my mate has a T-Lite, but he has dented it so easily, I've even got a clip of him denting it. -
As already stated, Vee's are not a down-grade but definately a cheaper alternative. My rear onza Vee brake I had as standard worked as good as my rear Hs33, and the Vee didn't have any special bits, it was completely standard. I think it is a bit of a bad descision, as I was only just able to get the T-Vee, as my parents are not used to the idea of paying so much for a bike. One thing that cheesed me off a bit, and lots of people agree with me, is the fact how Onza make parts in such a way that new ones will need to be bought in the future. An example of this is the V-Brake mounts, why not have 4 bolt mounts?, why have a trials bike with a thin wheel?, etc etc. I think if Onza keeps their Mod bikes at this price or goes higher in the future, then they will lose in the competitive market aimed at beginner trialers.
-
Yea is good stuff for 4 months. I think it would have been 10x better though if you filmed more clips and had them at normal speed, so it fits the music a bit better.
-
I dont really mind, but I'm sure most people would prefer a Sunday as most work on a Saturday. Just wait for more people to respond though.

Its not exactly that fat, more of a pert bottom. I imagine Chris and Jay should be up for it too.

What Are The Best Pads For Non-grinded Rims
Captain Scarlet replied to scottmarks2007's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Any pads will work on a smooth rim, but obviously some will work better than others. I went from standard Magura pads to Onza Citruses' and found it offered a lot more modulation, I could feather the brake a lot more before it bit properly than standard Magura pads, they also didn't eat nearly as much tar as my Magura pads. But yea, a bit of Tar and anything will do. Kool Stop pads are also a good choice of pads as they are good value for money.
