Lots of pad life left, I've only had the brake since July/August and that was brand new from Hope. I will try some of the options that have been posted, but I just want to know an explanation as to how my brake could become that bad just like that.

If your meaning the TV.isg.si account then it twas me Mr. Turd.

Well I've always complained that my Hope Mono trials front brake hasn't been up to scratch, it never has been 100%, but it worked good enough (say 80%). A few weeks back, times where my brake held like a beast on a front wheel gap, it just slipped. And then yesterday when I went out riding my front brake didn't work hardly at all, its crap as a normal brake it barely endo's me when riding in a straight line (I'd say 20% brake working). I have cleaned up the rotor, and sanded down the pads a bit (they were a tad glazed), I have also checked for leaks at both ends of the brake and have found none, it also feels fine at the lever. Is there anything else I could do, check or improve? Thanks, Tom

This Is My Zona Zip As It Currently Stands
Captain Scarlet replied to Steve Tiller's topic in Bike Pictures
jersey rider, the T-Pro is mine old one not Steve's. I personally think that the handlebars are waaaay too tilted forwards, and the forks make the bike a tad bit high, but Steve rides it like a beast so its obviously doing him good. -
Thanks for the comments again. Its a long frame and am loving it. Its a lot easier to gap to front wheel due to the length and height of the bike, it naturally endo's you over the front. [borat]Great success!!![/borat]

Get a bike box from Halfords or somewhere, ask nicely and you should give you one as its handy to give it away. Take off your handlebars, and front wheel, zip tying them to your frame which will be neatly covered in cardboard. Take off your pedals and other accessories put them into a box to put inside your bike box. Turn forks and stem inwards if neccessary. Put bike in box, cut down the box if needed. Make sure its a tight fit and pack out areas with cardboard, where sharp components point (e.g ends of axles, cranks, etc) Hold the lid shut with a few rolls of tape, then go around the whole box with tape. Weigh the boxed bike. Give City Link a call and ask how much it would cost to collect and deliver your box weighing "X" amount. Shouldn't be anymore than £20.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have solved the problem with the headset, the steerer tube was about a few millimetres too big, so the top cap hit the top of the steerer before it was anywhere near tight, so it wouldn't clamp down on the spacers properly. Just a bit of filing and jobs a good'un. I'm not going to cut the steerer tube down just yet, as there is currently only about 20mm poking out of the stem, and some of this may be taken up if I change my headset. But if it becomes a problem then I will do.

I too have been ignored countless times by police officers on foot or in car when riding my bike on the pavement. I think that they generally see that stopping one kid at a slowish pace on a bike is pedantic nonsense, and is not worth the trouble. Thats what PCSO's are for, the little jobs.

Petrol, just about good for cleaning crap off nearly anything on a bike. Surely if the petrol hasn't been mixed with oil, then there is no oily residue? I have some petrol from my old Minimoto, thats 50:1, Petrol:two stroke ratio, and brakes still work fine after that.

Cup holder?

Many thanks to Chris (Zhi) for getting this frame for me, here it is. All good apart from a slight movement in the headset that needs sorting. Comments?

Woah, where we meeting and when? Someone give a ring.

Yeah Wheeler! Decent video and had a nice pace to it. I take it those rocks that look unfamiliar to me are Sheringham? Nice one man.

Well Steve and Me are definately getting the 9 train so we will be at the station at 10:30ish. Completely up to you if you want to meet at station or pier Ash?
-
I think value for money, the older T-Pro is your best choice, Magura's would set you back about £100 new, and the wheelset is worth over £100 as well. Go for it mate, it will be better in the long run.

Whilst you can be done in for riding on the pavement, its not really a full legislation in my opinion. Because at the end of the day its down to the officer. Imagine it like this, if you smashed a window on purpose it is almost definate that a copper will nick you, but riding on the path is only seen to be a nuisance if in a busy public place. Most police officers don't mind if your riding on the path if the road is busy, or if your on an empty path around a local housing estate. But however you will get the one odd, power mad, pedantic, jobsworth who will stop you in any circumstance, so watch out. Just don't argue against what they say, as afterall, jobsworth or not, they are the law.

Come along man, lots of lines to ride, and plenty of sea walls and street to ride. Especially now that all the cafe's down the front are closed at this time of year. Steve and I are going to be in Clacton a bit later, as Steve can't make the 8 o clock train. We are getting the 9, so will be at the station around 10:30ish. Can either meet at station at that time, or pier at around 10:45?

No-one has cancelled it nobhead, I'm riding, I got my frame today. Just need to put my brake on and sort the headset out.
-
Well Ash will be there either way as he kinda lives there. I'll post on here Friday afternoon/evening to comfirm if I am going or not.
-
Oh btw the way, I'm not going to go if my frame doesn't turn up by Friday, would really like to ride without worrying if my frame is gonna snap or not. I'll post on here Friday if it does or doesn't turn up.

Should Cycle Helmets Be Made Compulsory?
Captain Scarlet replied to Captain Scarlet's topic in Chit Chat
I think they should be compulsory to all though, I can think of countless times where families go out riding their bikes, they make their children wear helmets but don't necessarily do so themselves. Now what kind of message as a parent is that?
