  1. Very good read, I had this at work too, finally good to know what all the little numbers mean on the side of the tyres.
  2. It's HD but hasn't been rendered properly its all squashed. Pretty good from what I can see but I can't judge any distances or heights as it is all long and skinny, your bike look like it has a 800mm wheelbase.
  3. I've always thought of something like that, imagine that your front wheel is yours hands, and rear wheel is your feet. Going by that, I'm much more confident and comfortable on my bike, but things like side to rear I'd do much bigger than if I did it without my bike static without using my hands.
  4. Its a weird ol' topic, Male or Female, something we cannot determine or choose to be. Think about it, everyone in this thread could have easily been a girl at birth. I think about it in the same respect that people would change themselves to be a different style or culture, and for most the people in the documentary it is a massive step or change, so kudos to them for having the balls (yea bit of pun I suppose) to come out do what they feel is right.
  5. Monstrous stuff, that side to rear was ridiculous! Tom has improved loads as well. What bar and stem are you running Danny?
  6. Such an inspiring style, it has it all; TGS, street, lines, everything! I am in awe of the line at 1:44. Absolutely love it!
  7. Knowing what size filter thread you need is a good start.
  8. LOL! Get a helmet, Get a better camera and get someone who can compose your shots a bit better. I couldn't get into watching something where I have no idea how big the gaps or sidehops were, and not wearing a helmet is just plain stupid.
  9. Absolute beast, that last gap is mental!
  10. I think Derren is a brilliant performer and showman, I understand that you take all of this in a sceptical nature Dave but he is merely performing his feats in such a way to maximise effect. In Derren's books he states that he doesn't want to be just a mentalist, so therefore incorporates magic (and therefore the bullshit patter that follows) to maximise the potential reaction of the effect. (See Absolute Magic) Yes, to a learned man like yourself, of course the triangulation method of calculating speed is bullshit, it is just how Derren chooses to present it. It would be a completely different effect if he just said; "Yea I'm gonna guess the speed of that car!". He does this with every effect he performs, from this series, to his older Mind Control stuff. In his book "Tricks of the Mind" he starts off teaching you a basic coin vanish, as most magic books would teach you, then he breaks down the trick and pretty much gives you the perspective of a spectator, so he adds various subtle extras to make the trick more; logical, natural and of course more believable for the spectator, which then naturally can determine how amazing the audience see the trick. In this case he takes a normal boring coin vanish, and spices it up into believable work of art. Just the way he talks and the words he uses can influence the spectator that the trick is more magical than what it actually is. If you want to slate any other performer, move onto someone like David Blaine, his presentation is gash, it's pretty much; "Hey do you wanna see a trick?, here I take this card, I wave and it vanishes!".
  11. Vimeo Video -> Original Video
  12. Only within advertising. It's still not known if it works or not.
  13. Danny Mac seems to do it fine. You can't ever blame a bike for not being able to do a style of riding, afterall the trials scene in the UK was started on 26" cross country bikes. A bmxer I know got into trials, bought himself a T-Pro, he could air quarters like a beast, flowed it into sidehops and other bits like that, so never is a bike non versatile, it just depends how much of a poof the rider is.
  14. I understand that everyone has styles and such, but if you could combine your style with some iconic static trials moves then you would be an absolute nuts of a rider. You've got the power, the control and the bike for it, why not do it?
  15. Ah cheers for that, I was wondering if it was possible to transfer my bike no claims over, some do some don't apparently. I'll ring up nearer to the time once I've passed my car test, the only way I could do it online was to say that I was 19 and had 2 years cars no claims, but that brought a small engine Clio down to £600 fully comp which I was well chuffed with. Actually can't wait to do it, I'll be the envy of all my mates, the last one in our group of friends to pass but the cheapest on insurance. Oh a tip if your going for an expensive policy, my mate's 1.25 Fiesta was cheaper fully comp than TPFT, he also saved £250 by doing payment in one go rather than monthly, to achieve this he went for an interest free credit card.
  16. We still riding tomorrow mate? I can come down afternoon?
  17. No Derren didn't influence them to right any specific number down, he just simply asked them to let themselves go, their instincts be instincts. You could see in the clip that a couple of the subjects had the right idea, by essentially letting their hand be dragged subconciously with the pen, creating a scribble which they would then convert to a number.
  18. No as explained in the show it is the Ideomotor effect, where a subject's subconscious mind makes a physical motions, in the case of Derrens work this very subtle motions made. Mentalists, Psychics, Swammi's and other performing artists have used the Ideomotor effect for centuries, best example I can give is the classic pendulum swing, the subject would hold a pendulum and subconciously wills it to move, and can then cast it into different directions, just by thought processes alone. While the subject only has subconcious thoughts of it moving, the Ideomotor effect gives the subject a subtle physical motion to make it swing. This all ties back in with suggestion and will-power, depending on how suggestive the artist is (in this case we are talking Derren Brown so incredibly good) and how suggestible the subject is the possibilities become endless. In fact there is a whole book covering different effects that can be used with the Ideomotor movement, Muscle reading, and other techniques used by famous mentalists. Psychophysiological Thought Reading by Banachek. EDIT: Oh the Ouija board is another example of the Ideomotor movement.
  19. I think flat bars will eventually fade and die out, riser bars seem to have taken over, just props you up in a position where you can really exert yourself. I also found that flats give me terrible wrist cramp. But on the other hand, didn't Hermance used to run flats (or maybe he still does), and he's world champion!
  20. I took my ears to 19mm, but I'm at the point where I think "bloody hell too big", then other times "Christ I want them bigger". Just shrunk them down to 16mm in both ears, not overly massive or too small. Sorted. =D
  21. Quite possibly one of the finest and most explorable mentalist in modern magic. I was on the ball with some of his old work and shows, able to spot what suggestion he was using and such, but now it is flawless as it has become so routine in his performing repertoire. Not fake.
  22. Indeed, she is 15. She's not too young in the sense of maturity, or even looks. It's just socially where it complicates.
  23. It won't be long until everything in life will be networked, like on the internet where your Msn messenger displays your Hotmail, the way that Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and such are all interlinked. My bosses new Peugeot Partner van instantly synchronises with his contacts on his phone when he gets in the van, he has a nice clear display of all the names and numbers on his phone on the dashboard, and can cycle through them with the stalk controls. And all this is completely standard with the van. Slowly the majority of cars on the road are being replaced with newer ones, what was an old car will be really old, and current new will become old. Of course its respective technology that comes with it will be gone and replaced. Computers aren't even needed for internet anymore, the technology is all useable from a mobile phone, what other devices will be able to harness it in the future? How long will it be until we as humans have the internet built into us? Every unknown answer could be searched on the internet just by thinking about it, never will someone have to ask for the time, last bus, directions, or shop closing times again. What about controlling everyday items such as lights and doors without lifting a finger, well its been done. http://www.kevinwarwick.com/Cyborg1.htm Teleportation. Will revolutionise the world once over, its already been successful to separate light particles, send them as data and reassemble once received at the other end. Just think, there will be no delay of days waiting for a package to arrive, no jet-lag travelling to a foreign country. Teleportation will eradicate many jobs, establishments, companies and organisations in the same way that the internet has killed normal aspects of everyday life. Newtons first law of motion.
  24. As I usually do, I get bored not having any girls in my life, the second I get with one and it starts to shape up serious, I lose motivation in the relationship. The girl I'm with is perfect in the sense that she is good looking and has good tastes, my only problem is that she is 2/3 years below me and lives on the other side of town. The age usually doesn't bother me, but I'm at the point now where I've had enough of younger girls and really want someone my own age, as its awkward socially, and personally I don't think I have the motivation to see her, which of course is not nice for her. My only trouble is that she is set on me, this relationship has only been about a week, but we've done it already (apparently she waits much longer but it felt right for her). I just don't want to leave her and get the jipe that I used her for sex.
