What Safety Gear Do You Wear?
Captain Scarlet replied to trialsr lee's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Lol, since when have you worn a helmet Lee, do you even wear pads? Ah well it would be nice to see you wear a helmet, you never know when you might need it. I wear a helmet, a big black one. I also wear gloves, which are fingerless (I get cold in the winter ) I've worn pads, but they aren't really for me, I might try some football shin pads sometime, probably more comfortable and most of them have ankle support. -
MySpaz It was ages ago since I last edited my profile, and I can't really be arsed to add anything to it.

Yeah nice one Jack, seems like the easiest option to getting ahold of Tar. I'll have to order some at another time.

Wich Lucky People Are Getting For Christmas..?
Captain Scarlet replied to bennyb's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I should be getting my first trials, an Onza T-vee. And with my money from christmas I'm going to get some hs33's for it. -
I'm not much of a trials critic, seeing as how I don't have exactly much experience. But of all of my mates mod bikes I have riden, I like the T-Mag the most, it just feels comfortable and safe. So obviously I don't know about any long term problems about the frame snapping etc, but it has a nice balance point, I like the size and geometry of the frame, and overall is a nice bike. From what I have ridden of it anyway.

Callin All Riders From Ipswich Or The Area!
Captain Scarlet replied to Sucram's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I would come, but I'm tight on cash for the train. As well as the fact that it is cold, and I would rather wait until my bike is ready to go with Magura's. Perhaps in the new year. -
I'm just going out riding and practicing the stuff I know. Just like pedal hopping off of ledges, and getting onto them. etc.
-
Hmmn, I'd be interested in this answer also, after finding out that a 19" rim will not fit my T-vee. Although I have recently found out that the 07 T-vee has a 2.4 rear tyre, so I should be fine with standard.

I wasn't, I told him as soon as he asked me. I mean there was another abandoned building we went in, a proper police officer stopped us and said; "I don't mind you playing, but being in a building like that is very dangerous, if you get hurt or damaged I have to pick up the pieces, just don't do it around here." See now thats alright, but with the other incidence with the PCSO, my friend did the best possible option and apologized, and didn't recieve a positive acceptance from the Community Support Officer. Was there really any need to call me a "dumb sack of crap"?

What Does Everyone Think About V-brakes
Captain Scarlet replied to twokn6's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
To be honest I feel more confident when using a bike that has a HS33 set-up. But my friend has a standard Tektro V-brake on the back of his bike, works very well rarely slips, and with a bit of tar it works like a dream. I just prefer the feel of Magura's though. -
I just hate the guy around your area, me and a few friends went in an abandoned building, when we came out we had a few outside waiting for us. The PCSO said "Was you in that building?, mate says "No". Later on some local comfirmed that he was inside, my mate said "Sorry mate" to the PCSO, and he replyed "Don't call me mate!, My name is Will!". I've said it before and I'll say it again, he just rips your head off about it. There wasn't any need to speak to him like that, he may be a PCSO but he isn't the proper authority figure.

Hehe I got loads of favourites, but at the moment I am liking: Trivium - Anthem (We are the fire) Hard Fi - Cash Machine Marilyn Manson - Coma White Crystal Method - Roll it up Audiobody - You gotta tap Eric B and Rakim - Don't sweat the technique
-
Yep, and its why I always wear one now. My mate did something similar (in fact he is on this forum), when we was all into jumping and stuff he had his keys in his front pocket, he stacked it over a jump and he cut his leg open, blood went everywhere, and he broke his leg from the impact of falling (I think). I'm glad I can't remember my accident.
-
Fractured skull and a blood clot that had to removed (obviously ) I guess the worst I have done trials related is slipping on the pedal and cutting my shin, nothing major, only a little graze.
-
I think trials bikes look much better without a seat. Most trials bikes that do have seats are really hard to pedal whilst sitting down, so it defies the object of it. I would only have a mini seat in, if I was going for a long ride to somewhere, and you can sit down and relax when you go down hills.

Nice to see how many people do wear helmets lol. Well a helmet could have saved my life much easier, in 2004 I fell went up a quarter on my jump bike, didn't make it to the top and fell back down again, then hitting my head hard against the pavement. At the time, I didn't know that I had fractured my skull, and a blood clot was building up inside. There wasn't a mark on my head. I went home, couldn't get to sleep, my parents found that one of my eyes was pointing the wrong way. I got rushed to Great Ormond Street in London, to have the blood clot removed, doc said that another hour and I would have died. But the thing is, I see people who only wear helmets when trying big gaps or moves, but an accident like mine could happen whilst doing anything on a bike, you could be manualling and fall off the back (I did it, this time I remembered my lid ), and even though I was wearing a helmet, I had a really bad headache for the rest of the day. Imagine if I wasn;t wearing one. I was reading about a kid who had a similar injury to me, he was speeding down an alleyway on his bike, he came out onto what he thought would be an empty road, but a car passed in front of him, so he slammed on his brakes, went over the handle bars and went into the car head first. You may be doing the most simplest of tricks, but any little slip could knock you on the floor and hit your head. How about slipping from the bars or pedals and hitting your head on your handlebars? I don't care about the comments that come my way from wearing a lid, its the right thing and I'm sticking by it. Heres a quick picture of my head after my accident: Thats 40 staples.

I just don't see the point in them, like I said, there is one in my town that thinks he is the man because he walks round a fluorescent jacket that comes down to his knees, saying "Community Support Officer". I really don't mind the proper police compared to these, the real police may be a stronger force and have more control, but they usually do talk nicer to you.
-
Yep I hate them. Theres one in my town who acts like a hard nut because he can stop us, but you wont see him stopping any drunken louts on the street. The Pussy Policemans Apprentice, what happens if there is a real crime, where is the police officer?
-
Heres a quick question for everyone here. When you ride, do you wear a helmet?, and also do you wear it everytime you go out on your bike? or just when you go out for a long ride? I wear mine everytime I'm on my bike, never ride a bike without one. But also I really dislike seeing good riders without one. Over the years, silly comments like "Take out the helmet you pussy!", have just become a second nature to me. I wear mine all the time, because I have had a biking related head injury, that almost cost me my life. What is everyone elses opinion on this?

I don't really mind if people are watching, It doesn't put me off. I like the old guys who come along and are amazed by it and are smiling at you as you do it, some nice people about. Then again there are the Chavs who sit there and laugh at you if you fall off, I mean I'd like to see them do Trials, and jump back on the bike and do the trick again successfully.
-
I don't really mind if it is wet or raining a tad bit, I just go out and ride. Its not like the same as BMX or Dirt Jumping, where you can't ride beacuse the ramps or jumps are wet and slippy. Thats what I love about Trials

What’s Your Favourite Mod Frame?
Captain Scarlet replied to Sam Moore's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I can't really add much to this as I haven't ridden many Mod frames, well at least nothing like the kind of expense that everyone is going into. I quite like the look of the Ashton Justice myself. Definately gotta get that someday. -
Hmn, I guess like Natural country side and stuff is better for less police and people getting in your way. But I like street, as riding in a built up place holds lots of possbilites, plus I'm close to shops to go and buy some food or drink. Also I sometimes bump into people and friends, as well as random people watching you with awe.
-
Hmn, I've bent more stuff than snapped. The pedals that came standard on my X-Ray snapped, and then I snapped the Spindel. Bought a new spindel which bent in the space of a week, and my bars bent.
-
Same as my mates T-Bird, his is a Red/Grey colour, and he bought it for £30. Nice bike, but his Vee's are unreliable (like most), I landed on my back again today.
