Weight Training... Thread Number 2...
Fish-Finger-er replied to downhill_rob2@hotmail.com's topic in Chit Chat
same here, but has to be used on stuff like leg press.occasionally use the bench press with the bar in a guide with the ratchet thing on it, but thats purely due to going some nights and feeling like you want to push more than your comfortable with, and theres no one you know to spot you. i dont get it though, no matter what i do, im useless on tricep based exercises. tricep dips, french tricep curls, bench press etc, all super low when compared to my bicep/pec strength. -
does anyone remember islandstyle, or islandtrials. or something, the vids from vancouver island, canada, they wer the ones which i used to love, will try and find links to them if i can.

yea ive had that thought before too, it used to be done in the 1800's with great big rotary treadmills(imagine a water wheel).well i remember seeing a drawing of it in a history book back in yr9, could either be done the same way again, or with just individual bikes, hell if really needed could be done with weight machines.using a gearing system to make it harder to lift weights, but creating more power. would be reasonably economically viable too i would have thought, as the cost of the kind of weight machines used in proffessional gyms, and most likely prisons, is astronomical anyway.

i thought id raise this in here,as it is something i thought of a few months back. were all aware of obesity correct?? and ways that the governments trying to create a greener britain(the £1500windmills in b&q being a prime example). now say we could do our bit to solve both at once. the way i see it, exercise bikes fitted with dynamos. the average person can cycle out about 120 watts comfortably. now if the government were to supply every household in britain with one of these at a low price(oap's etc excluded, as are those on disability, providing it isnt disability through obesity). cost to the government would be fairly low i should imagine, due to mass buying(much less than the £1100 it costs b&q to purchase a wind turbine) and would be subsidized as it would be both a green issue, and help with the health and fitness of the nation. everyone would be cuttin energy usage(4 person household, each on it for an hour a day 1/2kwh) admittedly itd be a small percentage of energy usage, but it would be something, would also encourage exercise, combating obesity, and possibly creating some future cycling stars in britain(Road and time trial obiviously). also we all know diesel cars will run happily all year round on 50%diesel,50%cooking oil. its around half the price of diesel, now excluding the loss in tax of a couple of pence a litre to the government, why arent they placing just 10% cooking oil in directly at the pumps, low cost to the government, (in fact if they still charged the same price per litre, government would be losing nothing) would be cutting our fossil fuel use in that area by 10% reducing harmful emissions as well by a decent chunk. and generally doing our bit for the kyoto agreement. so whys it not done..... cos the worlds run by oil tycoons, thats why. depends, id like to know the official stats on this, we all know the bigger the production scale, generally the more efficient it is(per unit), now is a company such as iolo, producing small numbers of frames, all one off's more efficient per unit than say deng after shipping, would like to know.because i think it would be relatively close. yes obiviously it would be better if the frames were made on a large scale in the uk, but there isnt enough market for that to become economically viable, without exporting. which really puts us back to square one.

my next car will have lexus lights on it. so personally im gunna have to say, lexus lights can look good, altho chances are im not in my right mind. and the m3 mirrors, are m3 copies, and base plates are used to adapt them to fit the corsa. note: my next car will be a lexus is200, so i think its got a just reason to have lexus lights, although it will look like every other is200 in the world, but thats kinda the way standard cars go these days.

ive thought about the damage were doing as regards buildings/structures etc. but never really thought of how eco friendly we are. because i know this sounds stupid, as if everyone didnt say it, it would make a difference, but me quitting trials, and taking up horticulture or another more eco friendly sport would have bugger all impact. only a few of those points seem to hold any water with me. the shipping one for example, its not like for every frame builds, he sends a cargo ship to britain, the ship would already be going, deng just adds a crate onto it, so its having more of the ship used. which kinda makes it more enviro friendly on the numbers game(95% of its load space being used each trip, as opposed to 90%).

Fish-Finger-er replied to downhill_rob2@hotmail.com's topic in Chit Chat
okay, was big into me training over the summer, but let it slip an got big into me drinkin, but now trying to get back into it. current stats sit at. 225lbs (hopin to be back down to 215 by new year, then 205 by the end of jan. or stay the same but lose the fat) 18% body fat (was 14% in august, and rose to 23% mid to late october) 6"5 37inch waist, unsure on the rest. current weights after having 3 months off, and being back on for the last 2 weeks. Bench press : 130lb (freeweights, and it suck i know) EZ bar bicep curls : 55lb(freeweights,not includin EZ bar) individual dumb bar curls : 32lb(freeweights) pectoral fly : 84kg(machine) leg press: 180kg+++( machine goes up to 168kg,can add 30lb of weight to it, still push 20 reps out-go thunder thighs) note all weights, except leg press are for 10-12 set reps. trying to lay off the legs, let the upper body catch up. -
yea the stereos got a set of pre outs, so will be fine to wire up to your amp. seems fairly good value, but then aint had no interest in car audio for like 15-18 months, so prices have probably dropped loads in that time.

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread

depends how good mates you are with her(stevie), ultimately after hearing this, K may want nothing do to do with you"doesnt want you as a pervy mate seeing her drunk and being in her house etc(who knows wat goes through womens heads, ive had real good female mates, then once they learn im interested, they dont even want to be friends) and stevie and K are close, ultimately bloods thicker than water an all that crap. may lose both there friendships. is talkin to her about her sister gunna possibly jeopardize your relationship with her. -
mines still going strong on my bike, from 2002,and its had plenty of abuse. also altho they wer supposedly 02 limited editions, magura made way too many of them to appear limited/rare. im sure i remember seeing some white ones at the bike show 04 for £80 full set or summit. so wont neccessarily be 4 years old

it was indeed 2002 if i remember correctly, which im sure i do.

Front Free Wheel Make Me Hop Further?
Fish-Finger-er replied to _Owen.'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
can run front freewheel cranks without front freewheels, just use a screw on cog, same as i do on me echo's. and wouldnt say a 22-18's any good for speed really, 'specially not on a mod. stock its about right, -

my honest opinion, right now, just wait. If K is on the rebound, and shes with a new guy, and you say this, will mess her head up even more.(which surely isnt what you want if your her friend). at the end of the day its her life, u cant expect her to have every feeling you have for her mirrored. and jumping in now really wouldnt be to wise i wouldnt think. Also in the last 4 weeks, ive ended up in another girls bed twice, but didnt sleep with them either time, because i generally wanted a place to sleep, rather than my hole. just because he went up there doesnt mean he even slept in that bed, never mind slept with her. if there mates, there probably more than happy to share there bed. and bear this in mind, if K is mates with this guy, and he did go up there to try and get on her.if you get into a relationship with her right about now, then chances are this guy, who wanted his chance, may well be not to happy with you(bearing in mind he only met you last night, same as you met him), and having one of her good male friends wanting yo kick you up and down the street isnt a wise move, cos itll be extremely awkward. -
wanna rethink that, mate supposedly had the fastest starlet in the uk, at 317bhp. think thatd give most cars on the road today a pasting. its not that there hugely powerful in standard form, its the fact there light, and extremely easy to get more out of them, same as the renault 5 gt turbo's EDIT: just noticed this(Was looking at 3 car related topics at once at the time), mike you sure you aint put this in the wrong thread??

oooo....another one, 270/360 drop offs.

early members from trials scene. planet X cling ons. £12 a pair at the bikeshow, butonly ever had them in luminous green or orange. 24 point engagement hubs LX levers with H-L settings. the orange zero being the sex. dmr steel rigid forks being the bomb. trials comps being added onto the end of dh/xc events and everyone putting there seats down and having a go. canti brakes, and how cool V's were when they came out Fat ass maggie levers- racelines, frogs etc. Scott dommit. tricks and stunts. bunnyhops where both wheels lift at the same time. 7 speed 11-28t cassettes. Gears(remember them) underbar shifters being the in thing. Standard maggie boosters. setting up 2 bolt evo mounts. being the lad, cos i owned a DS2. azonic double wall risers. wheel building being black magic. 3 piece cranks coming in and taking over power pros(like we didnt care about the 35lb bike weight)

yea, on the leisure lakes site, didnt say the b line was a kids bike, just thought it was a 24" wheeled freeride bike(old skool big hit style). however just spotted this new big hit. would this be a better bet than the norco's?? want something falling just a bit more hardcore than the hardcore xc bikes. and ultimately a frame that will handle a lot more abuse than its going to be bought for, just in case i decide to start getting more into the northshore esque freeride style of stuff, hence why i looked at the shore. and you say it wont go uphill for shit, but its only 6lb heavier than the sixtwo, wouldnt of thought the difference between the 2 would of been that great once id got used to it.
-
norco's been looking at the B Line, the Six 2, and the shore 3. although may go for summit totally different, kinda the area i was lookin in, Real tough bikes thatll still do xc, but wont mind when i act like an idiot an try a few feet high huck,or a couple of jumps (note dnt intend doing freeride on it, just feel an xc rig, would break to easy, with me being of the "excess baggage clan" and liking a bit of mess around fun now an then)
-
just been on the leisure lakes site, lookin at a freeride/heavyweight xc machine. are the norco bikes super good value for money, or is there some catch with them. full sus canadian freeride frame, with semi decent wheelset, hayes hydro discs, marzocchi forks etc, and some start at sub £900 for the 24" freeride one. super good value, or have i missed something, or are norco no longer the prime brand they used to be??? EDIT : note: put it in here, because its not exactly trials related, so wouldnt fit in trials chat i dont think

kinda pales into insignificance compared to mine, shooting in the garage before with the fuji note both the fluoro tubes in me garage are shot, so i have a phone, or a flash for light. both at the other end of the garage, heard tripod fall over as i climbed over shit, heard a bang/crack/whallop, thought it was the end of the camera. however happy days, camera landed on some bin bags, however the plastic plant pot under the piece of wood i was standing on(and the tripod was leaning on) is well and truly knackered. but yea, seems kinda stupid to worry about the £100 camera compared to your slight issue then. *note to any oblivious/ignorant/blind members of tf, poopipes missus is pregnant with a kid(well what else shed be pregnant with, who knows) and poopipes been told it came from his spam dagger. as a precaution for future incidents, really think you should just wrap her in bubblewrap, and have a straw for her to breathe through, that, and i think itd just look plain amusing, and u cud pop it when you got bored.

trouble is he wouldnt be having a car that looked like a shed, cos itll look done up. remember when my mate had a 2.08v lump in his nov, beats redtops to about a ton, still had it totally standard on steelies, 1.2 badge on the back, now that had shock factor. as for the whole doing this to a car, seriously suggest not paying 3k to get it done, do it yourself, for a few hundred.youll learn more, save money, and ultimately get more respect. dont really think all these people who send there cars to midas, carisma, mynheer, calder coach works etc are anything at all, so what there rich, end of it, and theyve chose to blow 20k on a corsa. whereas, yes i drive and always have driven none standard cars, but all the work, excluding paint(i did prep myself), is all done by me,means that for the money, its not as bad(my whole car, including the car itself, kit, wheels, interior, private plates, paint, materials etc has cost me £200 more than its gunna cost you for an engine transplant). but at the end of the day, its my car, worked on, maintained, and done up by me. also ive learnt skills that may come in handy elsewhere, its occupied time which id of wasted down the boozer, and i can look back and think, ive done that, rather than the people who use companies to do it all,who look back and think"i had 20,000 pound coins there" by all means go and blow 3k on an engine transplant, its your cash, but dont think its the wisest way to do it. also, your asking for advice on interiors etc, would be better of asking elsewhere on a lot of car matters, yes theres some car enthusiasts on this forum, but i should imagine 90% of them have little time for people who appear to be boy racers in chavved up 1200 cc motors(not saying you are, but modding a 12 yr old corsa, makes you sounds like every other burberry wearing ned). if you want tf opinions, youve pretty much had it, which is either do it yourself - few of tf, or dont do it all - rest of tf. if you want info etc on interior retrims, best off using forums such as corsasport.co.uk, or your local cruise/krooz/kroozin/kruizin forum for local people wholl do it.

someone once again reading the whole wiring up a sub thing.and hearing that and thinking its the issue here. its the same problem, but it may not be down to the RCA leads. reason it happens in sub wiring is most idiots run the positive feed and the RCA cables down to there amp in the same area, which with the voltage change down the positive feed causes interference in the (often) poorly insulated RCA cables. dont see how crap RCA cable would be effecting this set up(unless his ipod charger is in a close proximity to these RCA leads. and they are of poor quality, but would of thought hed of noticed it anyway when there was a current flowing through his cigarrette lighter.
-
kinda, but not quite, your onabout a distributor, which most cars dont have no more. as its all ecu controlled an distributorless ignition. whats happening if its increasing with engine revs, is in fact the voltage changes from the alternator. may be worth buying a ready made alternator suppressor, from the likes of motor world etc. for the £2 or so itll cost, see if it rectifies it.
